I had a terrible experience with DC Carpet. I asked for 3 rugs to be picked up and cleaned. Simple…read morerequest, right? It started out alright when they picked them up but everything else was terrible. It took 3 appointments to get them back. The first time they wanted to reschedule because it might rain. OK, fine. The second time they were supposed to come drop them off at 1pm but showed up at 9:30 in the morning, literally banging on my door and sending texts saying they were outside, after I specifically told them I was not available (I work later in the day and was sleeping). When I asked what happened, I was told the appointment text thread was "deleted" and since it was not entered into their appointment book they decided to just show up when they wanted, I guess. When I finally got them back, one was an OK job. Didn't feel deep cleaned but acceptable. The second had things on it like it hadn't been vacuumed but smelled as if it had been lightly shampooed. So I don't know what happened there. The third, however, hadn't been touched. When I told the owner David this he continued to repeat that he had personally cleaned my rug 3 times and vacuumed it. I said he must be mistaken because the rug is definitely untouched and he absolutely wouldn't concede that he might have made a mistake. Imagine going in circles about a darn rug. "David, it's not clean." "I cleaned it." "David, you've made a mistake, the rug is not clean. "I cleaned it." "I'm sorry but this rug is in the same condition I gave it to you." "I cleaned it." This went on for like 10 minutes. I told him that if this were true then there wouldn't have been my cat's claws, hair, fuzz, etc on it that was there when I gave it to you. When walking on it your feet get dirty and it smells like dust! He said nothing but continued to assert that he himself had cleaned the rug three times. It got to the point where he started gaslighting me. He said his staff told him that I was rude, didn't want to pay, and shut the door in their face. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Imagine someone arguing with you about things that occurred that they were not present for. Imagine this person telling you that you did things that you did not do. Repeatedly. I can only surmise that these accusations were twisting the truth: the staff was walking on my living room rug with dirty street shoes and I asked them to not do that = "rude". I was asked to pay with Venmo, I said I didn't have it and could I call David and pay with my credit card (to which they said yes) = "didn't want to pay". After they finished bringing the rugs in they politely said goodbye so I closed the door = "they said you shut the door in their face". David agreed to come look at the rug that was not cleaned but I ended up canceling because I was so uncomfortable after the phone call I didn't want any further contact with this company. I asked for a refund for the rug that was not touched and it was sent. Thank goodness because I didn't want to escalate this. I just wanted to forget about the experience and move on.

Had this company clean an area rug at their shop. They said they cleaned it three times but the end…read moreresult was I couldn't tell any difference from when they picked it up. I can understand if not all stains are removable but this rug looked like it was never cleaned at all. In fact there were still xmas tree needles on the underside of the rug from months before so how thorough could they have been? I used a steamer vac on it afterwards and the water came out BROWN. That's just wrong.
