However, everyone here was friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. I arrived early for my 9:40am appointment. I was brought back closer to 10. The dental hygienist got me started on my x-rays. I was a new patient, so I had to go through a lot of extras. Every step of the way, things were explained to me, why they were doing them and what it cost. I was here for a little while. Extra care was taken to make the process as pain free and smooth as possible. Dr. Leigh Klein, DMD came in after my cleaning to go over things. She too, was friendly, clear and thorough. She offered up small words of encouragement through the process and seemed very matter of fact and frank. She leveled with you and at no point in time, did I think I was being mislead or guided into care or procedures I did not need. They were able to make time for the one small filling that I needed, and that process was smooth too. In the end, I left with a much cleaner and healthier smile and that's something to smile about. On both occasions I hand to ask that the hygienist practice proper hand hygiene, and that she respect the sterile field of equipment to be used in my mouth. The first situation ended good with no attitude or pushback. It was actually a pleasant experience. Ffwd to today... Again, I had to ask that proper hand and equipment hygiene be practiced. This resulted in cabinet doors being shut "hard", things being put down on tables "hard"...attitude, denial, justification, and arguments. Anyhow, I requested a different hygienist, because WHY? ...the new one came in with attitude that she evidently picked up from the first...funny she was the hygienist from my first visit. She thrust documents in my face after an impolite review of them. I told her that I had not requested that service be completed. Her response was curt and disrespectful. So, no...I don't want you as a care provider either. Then some lady in blue, have no idea who she was, stepped in to set me straight. She insisted that I perceived all of this. None of it actually happened. I had to tell her several times that I did not want to go back and forth with her, but she stayed in my face. I was seated in the procedure chair with her standing over me. I hardly remember her face...just those teeth in my face. I felt that she was absolutely bent on an escalation, that I refused to give her. She seemed to do everything she could to provoke that. It did not end well. I left, feeling afraid for my safety, without receiving needed care. Bottom line...I should not have to ask you to practice the 5 moments, and I should not have to go back and forth with multiple staff because of it. I don't think they're bad people. I just think they lack training and humility, and they rely on patients not knowing any better. When confronted, they are confused, defensive, and rude. They seem to think they can "bully" a patient to accept whatever. Imagine this...I enter the businesses, they respect the 5 moments of hand hygiene, cover the equipment that's going in my mouth, don't touch around the room after putting on gloves then go for my mouth...problem solved. All of that is just nasty. There would be no reason for complaint, attitude, arguing with patients, or delay in care. I asked for a foundational basic protocol that should exist in every healthcare facility. ***UPDATE*** In reply to the attempt at diversion... IT'S AN HONEST REVIEW. A Caring Dentist was very close to me, and had mostly good reviews... so I made an appointment. I was on time for the appointment, filled out the needed paperwork, and they took me back. The gentleman that took my dental X-rays was very warm, and personable... and we hit it off pretty well. Just a really nice guy! Then Dr. Parasher came and introduced himself, and I was impressed! He really did make me feel welcome, and that he did indeed care! He did his part of the exam, and it was painless and well executed (I have been to several dentists in the past so know the routines!) I was told when I made the appointment that they might not be able to to a cleaning same day... and I was ok with that. They did the initial exam, and found they had time to do the cleaning... but I had to reschedule, since I needed to get back to work (lunch hour and all). So they set up another appt. for the following week. Staff is easy to work with... everyone is friendly, and they are also very professional. I also HIGHLY Recommend Kelly the Hygienist, ( teeth cleaning ) she is truly Outstanding! She and Dr Williams will announce on a mathematical scale tooth by tooth exactly how your gum health is. They probe your tooth-gum and read out the reading so they can be recorded in the computer by the assistant. Actual Example for me; 1 is great, 4 is starting to get issues . ( if you have a #5 that's getting real problems) BTW I could feel on my tooth what they were saying was true. When they call out the tooth name and #1 , feels good, normal, then say on a #4 level my tooth / gum are definitely sore there. I have never had this probing / testing before and it gives you a great feeling to know they are so precise and professional. Also Kelly ( the Hygienist ) will guide you Exactly how to care for your teeth and gums to improve them. Success; I went back for 6 week follow up and had improvement ! thanks to the excellent guidance and exact advice from Kelly. Dr Williams and Kelly ( the hygienist ) are the ONLY Dentist and Hygienist I will be using from now on. The other person in reception is very friendly and accommodating. I drove 35 miles to get there. A lane closure on I-75 caused a delay of 10 minutes. I called 20 minutes before my appointment time to let them know. The receptionist said "thanks, drive safe". As soon as I get there Tina calls and said "we were expecting you 8 minutes ago. We are canceling your appointment. On the other line, another staff member called and said they were awaiting my arrival. I arrive and get a warm greeting from a staff member who proceeds to check me in. Tina interrupts and exclaims "You can't check him in because I just canceled his appointment 2 minutes ago!" Wasted my time. No apology. Just happiness on Tina's face and shock on the other person's. They don't care about people. I'd hate to have billing problem or any other problem.
