I used the Yelp App to locate a place to recycle a 65" Flat Screen Samsung TV that had quit. I did…read morenot want to just throw it in the landfill. The App sent out two requests under the projects program for responses. Within 24 hours I received two excellent responses that fit my needs. The first was a local nonprofit recycling center with 6 miles. The other was Total Reclaim. Total Reclaim operates a recycling business that accepts on site delivery of recycling products including TV's and other electronics. I consulted their website for details and location and they were 50 miles away. They also have a pickup service in their local area but only rarely in my area. They do charge fees for their services. I choose the local facility because of closeness and smaller fees. It cost me just $7 to recycle the 100 pound TV. I encourage people to use the services of Total Recall when needed. The Anchorage Landfill operates a limited recycling program at the main landfill in Eagle River. It accepts glass which the MatSu Borough Landfill will not. They also accept hazardous materials but I am unsure about electronics. Check the websites for ALL locations to get details and costs concerning their individual operations. I encourage everyone to use the recycling programs to reduce waste, contamination and pollution.

Partner gave me airplane parts and other scrap metal and I found this place. I wasn't expecting any money, just didn't want to toss in the garbage, but this place bought the metal off me and I had enough for lunch. Business will recycle ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Park at the brown building and the gents will take the metal and give you a slip. You go through the line and get money from the person in the white trailer. Boom, money. While there big rigs came in dumping scrap and cars. Will come and scrap again.

A worker was there to kindly hold the door open for me and offer to exchange me quarters when he could hear the machine rejecting some of my bills. I appreciated that. Prices were average - Washers $3, dryers .25/4min. I was there early so I was mostly alone like I prefer, but it's a decently sized laundromat with lots of machines. The second to the last dryer nearest the restroom stayed cold. At .25/4min it wasn't a huge loss for me. I do recommend this laundromat (with dry cleaning offered on the other side).
