At the worst of times, I was in a situation where I required very strategic negotiation handled by a top notch defense attorney. Seeing as there was only one chance to rectify this situation, I made sure to do my due diligence and contacted 5 attorneys on Yelp. With each we discussed their approach to the case, and compensation. I will not bore you with the details of these conversations, but I will summarize with this. Of the 5 attorneys I spoke Alanna was the ONLY attorney who suggested a highly pro-active approach, without immediately pursuing litigation. Each other lawyer promoted an identical plan of action, involving taking the case to trial, and continuing with a lengthy and costly process to have the case eventually acquitted months later. It was almost shocking to me that no other attorneys that I spoke with had any desire to pro-actively approach the D.A.s office and find a faster and less costly resolution. The prevailing attitude being that going to trial was the standard approach, and there was no need to be aggressive nor creative. Needless to say, it quickly became apparent that Alanna was the natural selection for this case, and the only attorney committed to putting her client's needs first and foremost. Even BEFORE signing any client agreement, Alanna contacted the D.A.s office the same day as our initial interview and was able to retrieve some crucial information, as well as plant a few seeds with the prosecutor assigned to my case. She was able to have the case re-evaluated by the prosecutor, and set the ball rolling to have the charges completely dismissed two days later. Given the prior proposals from the other 4 attorneys I was stunned at the outcome and swiftness of this dismissal... Alanna seemed like a fierce attorney at our first meeting. I thought that my defense would be vigorous and well prepared. However, the investigator did very little, even failed to photograph exonerating evidence which I had specifically explained. Basically, she will take your money, do nothing until it's time to show up at your arraignment hearing and then negotiate a settlement with the DA based on police evidence. I hired an attorney to represent my son for very serious felony charges that could put him away for a very, very long time. My experience with Alanna started in the face of some very serious charges. After taking medication prescribed by my doctor, I ended up sleepwalking in my apartment building. I ended up in someone else's apartment and took stuff out. My neighbors called the police. That's what happened to me. I was ultimately arrested and subsequently brought up on felony burglary charges, which set me at $55,000 bail and the possibility of prison!!
