If you live in the CDA area, you've driven past Alani on Appleway and Fourth at least 100 times and have never seen it. It's in the rear parking lot behind Hometown Chiropractic, next to Surf Shack Burgers. Alani Bakery is fantastic! Husband and wife owned, specialty in custom cakes (which I have not tried) and pastries (which I have). Their pastries are amazing, fresh, and perhaps the best I've had in all of Kootenai County. Sitting area is small, with a total of three two-seater tables and a sofa. Certainly not a place for a gathering. But if you want a quiet, comfortable hidden getaway to enjoy some quiet time without a loud blender, grinder, or coffee shop noises every 45 seconds, this is the place! Limited breakfast menu, but the croissant sandwiches and crepe options are wonderful. Croissant is warm, buttery, flakey, fresh and filled with goodness. Owners are super friendly and knowledgeable and offer great service. Excellent espresso (no drip coffee, so order an Americano or latte). You must try this place! P.S. there is one negative 1-star review on this site. Anytime I see someone post a 1-star review on any place, I check out their profile and almost always every one of their reviews are 1-star. So happy to have stumbled upon Alani Bakery soon after their opening! My friend recently hosted her bachelorette party in Coeur d'Alene, so we visited a wine bar nearby. We drove past Alani and decided to stop in to grab some goodies for our Airbnb later. It was late in the day, so they didn't have too many options, but we were lucky to get our hands on the last of their monthly mini cake! This month was a beautiful little lemon cake with strawberry buttercream. So delicious, and split with 8 people, the perfect small bite of cake after a day of rich foods. Service was excellent. The man working at the counter was very knowledgeable in explaining each available item to us. The place was very clean, though small. I will definitely be back if I find myself in Coeur d'Alene! read more

I ordered a cake and when I got it I was absolutely disappointed at how it turned out. It looked nothing like the picture I gave them. They put absolutely no effort or detail into the cake at all and it cost $60. I am super disappointed in this bakery and I will not be returning and I will warn others of how awful my experience has been. Don't tell someone you can make the design they ask for if you lack talent. You are misleading & scamming. My 3 year old could have made a better cake than the one they made. Absolutely ridiculous. I highly recommend people stay away from them when needing a custom cake. Pastry's and more is a way better option and can give you the design you ask for. read more
