I've had many rounds of PT over the last several years, and I can say this place is legit. George and his team are great, and what I like the most about Alamitos Physical Therapy Associates is that they teach you band workouts and bodyweight exercises you can continue to do at home, long after your PT sessions are over, so you can keep up your strength. It is incredibly difficult to make an appointment here. My doctor recommended this place for therapy after an injury. I initially reached out last week via their contact form but got no response. Today I called just after they opened. The person who answered the phone said that the office manager wasn't in but would call me back. Still no response. I tried going to the office during their posted hours (just after 5PM) and they were closed. Maybe they aren't actually accepting new patients. I would be nice if they would just tell me instead of wasting my time. read more

I want to thank George and his team for their great help the last couple of months. I struggled with a painful shoulder for nearly 6 months. George gave me an in-depth consultation that lasted more than an hour. He clearly explained to me his diagnosis. It all made sense. For the next few weeks I was in the capable hands of his team, with George always near and checking in on me. I always looked forward to my therapy sessions. I have only been to physical therapy twice so far. My son went here 7 years ago when he was 14 to rehabilitate a reconstructed ACL and he loved Andy and the whole staff, so I decided this is where I would go for my PT. I have seen Alex, who is very knowledgeable and seemed to really want to help me figure out to manage and get rid of my shoulder pain. My second visit was yesterday and I saw Mike. He was very helpful at correcting the movements I was making with my PT exercises. He also sent me home with exercise bands so I could do the exercises properly. Mike also specializes in massage and whatever he did to my shoulders and neck, it was like magic. It helped me feel "normal" once again. Everyone at this office is very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this group for PT. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting...staff and patients having conversations, joking around, and yet tending to business. My doctor referred me here and so glad he did. I like the fact that George is not only a physical therapist and owner but he's a certified Orthopedic specialist! They customize your therapy based on your injury, body part and dr prescription. George's team are very thorough, watch to make sure we're doing the correct exercises and has several different equipment to help build our strength. Sharon and Riley (cute therapy dog) are super friendly to greet you, Justin and Jessica are the best physical therapy aides, Ellie will help with lymphedema and George is there to help you recover. I have been in physical therapy many, many times with a reoccurring medical issue. I have never before experienced the quality care I received at Alamitos Physical Therapy Associates. The staff is really a team that works together for a winning outcome for you the patient. Dr. George Young is thoroughly professional and current in the latest techniques. His assistants, Justin and Jessica, were well trained and supportive. Riley, their therapy dog, would come and "nose" you on when you thought you just could not do another set. I came here to treat tendonitis in my wrist and it was bittersweet when my condition improved. Don't get me wrong, I love being able to use my hand again - but I actually enjoyed being a patient here! Everyone was very friendly, from Dr. Young to the other therapists to the aides to the front office staff to their dog. I always felt comfortable and welcome. They were also quite professional. They keep a clean, smoothly running office, and before my first visit they confirmed coverage with my insurance company and let me know what payments I was responsible for. As for the medical care, I feel like I received top-notch attention and treatment. My wrist was back to normal within a month. I definitely recommend this practice for those seeking physical therapy. read more

HORRIBLE BILLING PRACTICES - I had treatment with this physical therapy office between late '08 - early '09. Although I asked for a bill multiple times during treatment, it was never given. I received my FIRST and only bill from them in January 2010. That's right!! Between 9-13 months after treatment. I had been told the price would be one amount, but when the bill finally arrived, I was charged between $50-$135 MORE PER VISIT than I had been told. I attempted to work with them on this but got the complete run around. In my case, the physical therapist also treated a condition that she knew NOTHING about... but that's for another edition Additional information 10/20/2014: Comment from George Y. of Alamitos Physical Therapy Associates Business Owner 4/18/2013: We know this "reviewer". A non-paying former patient - sent to collections and small claims court. She lost! The original bill was for $3000+. I tried to work with this office from date that I received the bill and was transferred back and forth between staff. As such, I paid $1800 to cover the portion that matched what I had been originally told the bill would be. Is someone who pays $1800 a non-paying customer? Not exactly. Per Dr. Young's response: - the office never responded to me regarding the discrepancy in the bill. - they sued me without ever contacting me about my questions. Is this the kind of place you want to go to? There are plenty of qualified physical therapists available. Why go to one that treats their customers like this, has no problem suing customers, then gloats about it. read more

This is an awesome, awesome place! I've been going there for physical therapy for over two months and I absolutely love the whole staff and my therapy sessions. Everyone is so nice and helpful I look forward to my treatments and get very happy on the days I get to go in. I use to get super uncomfortable even just thinking about going to a gym, and now it's a pure pleasure for me. Not to mention that I'm getting better so fast and totally unexpectedly! :). read more

This is the second time I've needed therapy. First time was for my neck and the therapists did a great job making it stronger and less painful. I chose to come back for my lower back because of all the great people that work there and the specialized treatment I receive. They make having PT enjoyable and successful. This is the 2nd time I've had a problem that required me to see a physical therapist. I wouldn't go to anybody else than George, at Alamitos Physical Therapy. Approx 10 yrs ago I had a torn rotator cuff..George with rest and therapy kept me from requiring surgery. I now have a problem with my knees and almost couldn't walk without limping and significant pain. After a few short weeks the major pain is almost gone..Still need more work but George and the gang will help will continue their magic to get me walking pain free and without limping. read more

Meh! The people are very nice and the front office seems very efficient. If you are on a schedule don't go here unless it's the only place your insurance will pay for. They get to you when they get to you. It's always seems like happy hour. Lots of joking less physical therapy. I came to get better not to party. read more

George Young, Peggy Zidek, their physical therapy aides and the front office staff were all crucial elements in my recovery and rehabilitation from knee replacement surgery. This was my 7th surgery on that knee and my 9th overall (including hip replacement and a surgery on the other knee). As such, I have been through physical therapy many times previously at other physical therapy clinics. However, my recovery and rehabilitation has never gone as smoothly and been as successful as it has over the course of my visits to Alamitos Physical Therapy. Assuredly, I had to work very hard and it was by no means always pleasant, but Dr. Young, Peggy and the staff knew just how hard to push me while still being empathetic and encouraging. I owe them a debt of gratitude that will be difficult to repay. They are the epitome of physical therapy professionals and people that I now consider my friends...and the "office greeter" (Riley, the Labrador Retriever) will make sure you start your visit with a smile as he couldn't be friendlier! Should anyone ever need the services of a physical therapist and you have the capability to choose one, choose Alamitos Physical Therapy. I really can't imagine anyone being better. read more
