I started going to Alameda vision 6 to 8 months ago because my old optometrist passed away. I wanted prescription safety glasses for my work and my work only went through Alameda and since my records had been moved there, why not? My first negative was that, even though my old eye exam was less than a year old, Alameda couldn't find the records from my old Dr. Okay, new exam, no big issue. But I did notice that the personalized service I had with my old Dr (Eye Doc Greg) was missing. The desk staff treated me more like an inconvenience and the Doctor (don't remember his name) wasn't interested in listening to me about my eye care needs, basically just get me in and out. Fast forward to now. My wife had set up appointments for both her and my son for February 10th and 24th respectively back in December. She broke her leg at the beginning of January and so, when she received the confirmation text about those appointments she said "no" thinking she'd reschedule later. Today, we received two $25 charges for not showing for those appointments. I never saw those texts but what was the point of saying no if you'd be charged anyway. I'll let her call them, but I'll never go there again. Looks like they just churn through patients with out really caring about them and make their money without mine. read more

Went to pick up my prescription glasses because I received a notification that they were ready to be picked up. I get to the optical center to get them and the girl working goes to retrieve them and comes back with just the lenses... no frames and says to me, "oh, did you want the lenses put in the frames?" I had to come back another day to wait for them to do that. I was dumbfounded. I finally get the glasses with the lenses put in the frames about 4 days later... wrong prescription. I just said screw it and have been eyeglass-less for a year. Yeahhhh not coming back and wasting my time lol. People were nice, so that's why there are 3 stars. read more

Marjorie is priceless! What a kind, funny, helpful person you have in your eyewear department. Moving away from my usual optometry office 7 years ago was hard. They upsell you services you do not need and to compound that, they then will lie to you about the cost.

3 month wait just for my annual. Charged me $135 for glasses (frames free because I picked the correct frames for my insurance). Waited a week (awesome), but Incorrect rx came in. I told them something was wrong. I asked what my old/new rx was and I identified what was wrong immediately (suddenly my right eye after many wearing glasses for 14 years didn't have its astigmatism). They schedule me for an rx check the next week (which I spent an hour in the waiting room, but offices get behind so ok). It gets corrected. Sweet! New glasses come in put them on.....still wrong (suddenly my right eye's vision IMPROVED). I asked for a refund and was told they would look into that if it became a long drawn out process. Told me my eyes were sensitive and to try them for a week. A week of headaches and feeling like my eye is being pulled on later they schedule me for an rx check AGAIN. Go in and it is corrected again. Said it would take two weeks for the new lense to come in...so I guess we will see soon if I like it. I will be a better steward of my health and ask my current rx before and my new rx after, get print outs ect. It's not all on him. Still, I will be finding a different eye doctor for the future and I will be ordering my glasses cheaper online ($65 for the exact same tint and quality lense WITHOUT insurance vs $135 for them WITH insurance and FREE frames). read more

I had such a great experience at this eye care center! All of the workers are so kind, welcoming, and professional -- they really make you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in. Everyone takes their time to explain things clearly and make sure you get the best care possible. You can tell they truly care about their patients and love what they do. My family and I have been patients at Alameda for almost 15 years. I called today to schedule our annual check-ups and was told they have no openings until September! I called another well reviewed (5 star rated) office and scheduled easily for next week. Optometrists at Alameda have been very good, but front desk/sign in options are unfriendly and archaic. read more

I've had great results with Dr. Anderson but the practices and service of the Vision Center is lacking. I had paid in full for my glasses and then the lenses had come in and scheduled an appointment for replacement of the lenses. At the time of the appointment, I was not told of a balance owed for the exam. They switch out my lenses and then tell me I can't leave until I pay the balance and they would not bill me. They wanted my bank information (which I don't give access to) so they could withdraw it later. Though I wasn't prepared to pay an extra $100, I do keep reserve for emergencies. I paid the Bill and left. I had been a patient for over 10 years and recommended the place during that time. I no longer recommend using the vision center. I will get my prescriptions elsewhere. read more

No issues with the optometrists (they do a good job). My issue is with the optical center. I spent nearly two hours trying to pay for my glasses. During that time, I had the privilege of explaining my own insurance, educating the sales person on what Oakley Prism lenses are, being patient while others were helped in front of me, and waiting, waiting, waiting. I was told my order would be ready after 5 weeks. I called after 6 (I never received a call...), and was told they were in. When I picked up my glasses (which were completed by Oakley, no issues there), I was told I would not receive the non-prescription lenses (even though when I ordered I was told I would). So optometrists are great, the product is great, but the sales team left a lot to be desired. I will not be going back there to get glasses in the future. read more

I was told the wrong time for my appointment.. I waited over an hour and a half to see the doctor. Shilo at the front desk should not be allowed to talk to the public. Stay far far away from this place. I will never return, I cannot believe how awful my experience was. read more

Dr. Tucker is a great doctor. However, appointment times are rarely kept as you wind up sitting and waiting even if you are the first patient on the day. The optical store side is a different story. They don't have their act together just like most optical stores I have tried in Pocatello. Walk in one day and buy sunglasses and walk right out with my purchase. The next visit they tell me they may need to order the sunglasses only to call me back to the store an hour later to say oops,we were wrong. The latest trip I ordered and paid for safety lenses for safety glasses. Only to,be called the next day and,be told that they're a mistake and need more money to process my order. The cost of the lenses alone are now as much as the cost of lenses and new frames from other competitors. They are one of the highest priced shops in Pocatello. I gave them a second chance and regret it. read more

Alameda has a GREAT staff! They have online registration forms so that you don't have a ton of paperwork to do there. We have always gotten in within 15 minutes of our appointment. They have affordable glasses and frames so you have options, even if you pay out-of-pocket. read more

When I called to schedule my appt the receptionist told me 9 am. I checked in at 8:45 am and at 8:50 they called me back for the pre screening and informed me to wait in the lounge and Dr. Tucker was not yet in the building! They have a sign hanging that says if you have been waiting longer than 15 min to please inform them. At 9:15, I asked if Dr. Tucker was in the building yet and they replied no, and technically he's not late! Your appt was at 9:15, we just say that to get you here in time to fill out paper work! Well I had already arrived early and no paper work was given to me to fill out. Sorry but my time is just as important as their time! I had to leave as I would have been late for my next appt. Plus they never have my contacts in stock! I have now changed doctors! read more

I have been seeing Dr. Coleman Anderson since he joined Alameda Vision, and I have found him to be knowledgeable and professional. But beyond that, he listens carefully to my concerns, he is respectful and patient, and he is innovative - he's willing to try new things to see if they will improve my situation. The optical shop has a good selection of frames, and the staff is professional, pleasant, and skilled at fitting eyewear. I highly recommend Alameda Vision Center. read more

WORST I'VE EVER SEEN. Treated me like they were so put out by even seeing me for an appointment. Went in because of little black floaters in my eyes I was really worried about and after asking numerous times about them I asked again at the end of my appointment only to find out the dr didn't even look for anything and needed to get to a family appointment so couldn't really help me. Also, they won't do anything without previous prescription. I'm glad my last eye dr did all the hard work so they can just use that information. Too bad he retired. Also, they ordered my prescription in wrong. Wife also went, even after I warned her about it and had a similar experience with rude receptionists and absolutely no help until she could dig through our garbage to find her previous prescription. My experience with Alameda Vision was 50/50 the ladies in reception were very nice. I got in about 15 minutes after my arrival. Dr. Tucker was fantastic, he explained everything he was checking for and his recommendations. My recheck visit was very fast. I got my contacts ordered and they arrived at my home in 3 days. The down side was I also ordered glasses, these are almost all covered by my insurance, i picked my glasses and paid the remaining balance was told my glasses would be in about 2 weeks. So 2 weeks goes by I call and am told no they had no arrived yet. I wait another 10 days and I call i am again told no they had not arrived, so I ask how much longer, I am told by the lady in optical she will call the lab and get back to me. That was 4 days ago. No call, no one is telling me anything. I understand if they forgot to order my glasses, people are human and make mistakes, but I do not understand why people who are in the business of serving the public can not have any decency to just say "hey I made a mistake, it will be a few more days" so I suggest you do not use the optical center, because they won't tell you whats going on. read more
