Clara Dermatology was founded in 2020 by Dr. Rebecca Bialas and Dr. Joanna Hooten who are both board-certified dermatologists. Their office is clean, minimalistic, and modern with a variety of their top recommended products on display for purchase including Supergoop! sunscreens, sheet masks, and other trusted skincare products. It's a beautiful space! They're located in a building with a large parking lot, just behind the All Starz Academy, near the Parkside Town Commons shopping center off O'Kelly Chapel Road. They specialize in treatments of the face, body, nails and hair. Can't make it to the office for a visit? No worries, make an appointment for a virtual consultation. Additionally, they offer treatments including chemical peels, Kybella, vitamin injections, microneedling, laser hair reduction, and many more. They even offer ear piercing! Pricing is all very clearly listed on their website, too. Clara Dermatology visits and services can be paid for with an HSA/FSA card, cash, check, or credit card. However, they do not work with or bill any insurance plans. That being said, they can provide a coded receipt which you can submit to your insurance plan for out-of-pocket reimbursement. Note that Medicare and other government insurance programs will not reimburse for these services. Pro tip: you can pay for sunscreens with your HSA card! And my skin was still covered in acne. My mom took pity on me and sent me here to get a facial, a special treat. I believe I got a lactic acid peel and a hydrating mask. I don't remember entirely. The lady I saw recommended products to me, and wow, I saw SUCH a big result. I will say that I DID start taking oral acne medicine around the same time, but it wasn't really doing much until after this facial. Of course it took a little bit before my acne really went away but it's soooo much better than it was before. Without asking me first, they had assigned her assistant, a less experienced provider, to perform the procedure in her place, including on my eye area. While I waited, I noticed the owner in the office filming content for social media rather than stepping in to perform the treatment herself. No one called or texted to give me a heads up about any of this beforehand, despite this office usually communicating by text. I paid a $500 deposit and don't think it's acceptable to swap in a less experienced provider for a treatment near the eyes without getting the patient's consent first. I've since heard similar complaints from others about last-minute changes and poor communication here. Ask detailed questions about who's actually treating you, and get their consent process for provider changes, before booking.

Unfortunately, I believe the medical practice over books appointments because the wait time is excessive. I don't think there are many or any dermatology emergencies that need attention before seeing a scheduled patient so there is no excuse for long waits. Waiting 30 minutes is not unusual and if one calls in advance to check if they are running behind, the scheduler is less than helpful. If the patient is over 15 minutes late, they won't be seen and a late/no show fee is billed, but if the practice runs over 15 minutes late, that's ok.
