Patches and Stitches is a classic quilt shop for a town the size of Huntsville. It is neither the…read morelargest nor the smallest quilt fabric store I have ever been in, but it has a niche, caters to its customers, and serves them well. They have a good Civil War reproduction fabric area, and they usually have a pretty decent 1930s-repro area, too. Much of the store is devoted to classic fabrics: blenders, overall prints, batiks. They have a small selection of wide backing fabrics. They also have a lot of cross-stitching materials, which take up half the store. I know nothing of cross-stitching, so someone else should speak about that part of their merchandise. Pros: they've got a little bit of everything. Tools, stencils, fat quarters, thread, fabric. Cons: they've only got a little bit of everything. They're not going to carry specific designers or get in the designer du jour you're craving. If your tastes run to Amy Butler, Anna Maria Horner, Denyse Schmidt etc., they are not going to have your fabrics -- you will need to look outside for them. Good, reputable basics, though? They've got them, and the fabrics from the bigger companies are the higher-quality versions that only dedicated quilt shops carry. You'll pay more, but you'll get the GOOD stuff. They do have a person who takes in longarm quilting projects (for a fee, obviously) so if you're looking for a quilter, they can point you to one. Sales are rare, maybe once or twice a year. They announce it to their mailing list first. Typically it's a good discount but purchases have a 1/2-yard minimum to get the discount, so be prepared. They have classes, but I've never taken one. They don't have a ton of thread, which is disappointing to me. My guess is that there's just not much of a market for it. It's a good shop. I try to make as many purchases there as possible, to help keep them in business, but I recognize there are some things they aren't going to carry and will never carry, so I get those elsewhere.

The store had quite a few rocker recliner chairs. I spent time trying out several before picking one. The owner is very nice and accommodating. She set my delivery up for a minimal fee and the delivery was made on time as promised. This store is open Thursday thru Saturday. They sell excellent made furniture and much of it is made here in the USA. They have a loyal fan base, do not advertise and the prices on the furniture are about as low as they are going to be. There is no wheeling or dealing to get 10-15% off the listed price as the owner sets the lowest price to begin with. Due to COVID, there are signs thru the store about furniture not being able to be returned. You can't miss the signs. Pre-COVID the signs weren't up. If you are looking for great quality furniture, please stop by and give this mom and pop business a look see. As long as you are sure of your purchase, you will be happy with your furniture.

My husband and I came here in search of a china cabinet / hutch and found a beautiful hardwood Kincaid at a great price. There were a surprising amount of options and styles, too. They have a discount system based on how long the items have been there, so if you shop on the first day of the month you might get some steals. We happened to be in on the last day of the month near closing time, and negotiated successfully for the lower price the item would have been marked down to the next morning. They can also arrange delivery. The guys who delivered our piece were very polite and careful. It was all around a great experience. I would go there again next time I'm furniture shopping.

When I first contacted them, I spoke with Bryan and I had several questions and he every kindly explained the things I was concerned about. We made an appointment for him to come out and show us the things we had discussed and we went over everything. I wanted to also find fabric that would allow me to make cornice boards as this is something I enjoy doing. We made an appointment to meet with him at the store and he helped us find a fabric we thought would be perfect. During that time he told us that if we wanted to find something else, he actually recommended another fabric shop. This was something that never happened to us in over 50 years. He was more interested in us being completely happy with our windows than selling a piece of fabric. He had found the perfect shades for us and the price was completely reasonable. When they arrived, he called and set up an appointment for the next day to come and install them. The installation was done quickly and very neatly. With each appointment he was so punctual. He genuinely seemed more concern that we were happy with what we were getting than making a sale. There was absolutely no pressure, not ridiculous offers of a discount if we ordered right away, no horrible sales pitches. We met Richard when we were there and there just can't be any two nicer people to work with. There is an assistant to help with the installations when needed, but whoever starts working with you is with you through the whole process which guarantees you that things are going to be done right. This is the only place that we have ever had this happen. All others have separate installers and none have ever done anything to their level of perfection. When we get caught up on all the projects we have going on at our house, we will be calling on them again for more window treatments. You cannot go wrong using Richard Cable Interiors!

Conveniently located off Slaughter Road in the Heritage Plaza near the 72/University Blvd, I quickly headed over before their 5:30pm closing. I needed monogramming services to be done on a few pieces in time for an out of state bridal shower. [Son is getting married!!! :) ] Had less than 5 days before my flight, and Carl & Debbie were able to help me with my rush order at a very reasonable price. Even with a small order like mine, they were able to squeeze me in between the huge ones already in progress. I also must add that Debbie was very patient with me (bless her heart!) as it took me almost an hour to decide on a specific design last week when I first placed my order. With numerous catalogs to thumb thru and designs to choose from, I was undecided but finally locked down on one after changing my mind a couple of times. :) Now with the items in hand on the afternoon promised, I am quite pleased with their work & word! The monogramming and design work looks awesome and is perfect for my son and soon to be daughter in law. I will post pictures of the finished products soon. It's not often I need personalized work to be done on apparel or gifts, but when I do they've gotta be reliable, experienced, and reasonably priced.,,, that is what I found with Alabama Stitchin' Post.
