This place is LEGIT. Saw an article from The NY Times that mentioned this place and thought it would be worth a try. They opened at 7:30 and we arrived about 7:45 - a few weeks prior to the season so we didn't make a reservation although it was recommended. The space looks like walking into a grotto - tucked back in an alley and has just 12 tables. What's an amazing place!!!
The waiter immediately asked us if we would like to have an appetizer for the table - either tipico or fruits do mare - we chose tipico as not everyone in our party is a fish lover. The food that came out was AMAZING! We had homemade ricotta (to die for), a local cheese, arancini balls with local onion (cippolini), onion omelets (sounds weird but amazing), grilled vegetables- every piece better than the last.
We all ordered main dishes - I had the tuna Tropea style - delicious - and everyone else had some sort of pasta fish dish and all was beautifully plated and delicious.
We were all pretty stuffed and asked for the check - the waiter quickly came over with complimentary limoncello and the check. All of this - plus we had a bottle of house red and a bottle of house white - the whole dinner was less than €20 per person!!!
Exceptional dining experience- highly recommended! read more
