Food wasn't bad at all. I had the tacos and they were a good size and quite filling. I'd go back

Downtown Dadeland Food Truck Invasion

Downtown Dadeland Food Truck Invasion

I went to the coffee shop Passion Del Cielo one Thursday and happened upon the very first Downtown…read moreDadeland Food Truck Invasion. For its inauguration, the line up was pretty good - though i admit for me anything involving Ms Cheezious is a win. Other names I recognize include Jefe's, HipPOPs, Jersey Dawg and Sugar Yummy Mama. Admittedly this is a first so there's plenty of room for improvement. For starter, there were not enough tables and hardly any chairs. The event was in the middle of the street, near World of Beer, Lime Fresh, Which Wich and Passion Del Cielo, among other businesses. So there's no tree for shades, and the heat from all the food trucks kind of got trapped in, it just felt rather hot to be eating outdoors. Parking is plentiful as there is a garage nearby. Usually you get free parking via validation at one of the businesses, but I didn't notice a booth offering validation, so I am not sure how it works, not sure if the brick and mortar restaurants will be glad to validate non customers, or have them use the business's al fresco tables and chairs. Honestly, the venue is less than ideal, compared to Hollywood Young Circle, Tropical Park, or other venues where people can bring the whole family, sit on the grass, under the tree, by the fountain, and linger for a good time. Here it's more like grab your food and go. Also it seems to be bringing competition, not business, to the neighboring tenants. So while I love seeing more food trucks, and may stop by occasionally to get some food, I am not loving it yet. Hopefully it will improve and grow in the future. The first event happened on Sept 3, the next one is Oct 8, so I guess it's happening the first or second Thursday of the month. Ok ok so I went three times during my stay and I will say the food did not disappoint. Always…read moreremember to ask if they have a daily special because they do!! The wings (on wing Wednesday) were on point I was so satisfied with the flavor and the coffee does not overpower them at all. Cornbread was just right. They sprinkle a little salt on it which is not necessary and you can shake it off. And the tacos (on taco Tuesday) were soooo flavorful. The vibes and music are really nice. It's simply decorated and cute and rustic. Don't really know what to expect when you're walking towards a white building. So the employees are really nice. First time I sat at the bar and this blonde gal along with Jean helped me out. Jean was super nice and engaging. He was very attentive and interested that I was there. Customer service from him needs to be taught to others. That same night I returned because they were so nice I needed to return. I sat at the bar and ordered my wine, wings and cornbread and it was a whole different experience than before. The brunette gal helped me. Her friends were sitting at the bar next to me and she was super nice distracted. I never got my cornbread and had to ask her to pa knit when I was ready to go because she forgot. Praise God I saw Jean who helped me get out of there. I get her homies were there and they were working on something on the computer but she could've tried to at least ask me if I was ok or needed anything. Still not going to rate down cause Jean saved her. My last night staying here I went back and asked for a table cause I was scared to run into the brunette gal again. My server was Julez, another great experience. He was so attentive and nice. He told me all the specials. Came back a few times to ask if I was good and checked me out fast. He was so helpful, even him being patient with the table next to me and giving them the history of the restaurant was everything. That's how it's done!! Good job Jean and Jules and the blonde gal at the bar for being so awesome. This place is a must go to!! Don't forget to ask for the specials and make sure to go with an empty belly.
