AKULA KREATIVE... She's the ONE!
When I first met Nikki Li Mihalik, the KREATIVE genius behind this boutique graphic and web design studio, I knew instantly that we clicked. She was contracted as a freelance graphic designer to assist Ceremony Magazine's art department with advertising concepts and magazine layouts. At the time, I was the editor's assistant and liaison between our advertising clients and the graphic design team. It was my job to be the "middle-man" listening to the client's wishes and relaying their vision to the artist who could hopefully make it come alive.
And for me, her work was love at first sight.
Nikki had been assigned to create an ad for an independent wedding gown designer who was so new to the business she did not have a logo, tag line or image yet created for her brand. All we had to work with was a picture of a dress. I remember explaining to Nikki that this ONE photo was it, as the client's website was still in development so there just wasn't much more research that could be done.
Expecting hesitation, Nikki took that photo and started working. I assumed it would take quite some time to come up with an idea, since that pic was not only singular, but a mere snapshot taken by the client and not a professional photographer. Within a few hours, I was presented with THREE...you heard me...THREE totally different but absolutely fabulous ad mockups to choose from!
In a whimsical style, her designs were simple and clean, captioned with such a cleverly written tagline, I was concerned my editorial job could be in jeopardy. She had not only created a logo for the client that perfectly complemented her business but had BRANDED this company completely, and in record time. Nikki brought a fairy tale to life with her Cinderella-inspired ad and when I saw that design, I knew she was THE ONE for me.
Years have passed since I first started working with Nikki and I have yet to connect with a graphic artist the way I do with her. Our aesthetics may be similar but Nikki's insane creativity blows me away every single time we work on a project. She has this way of seeing ONE distinctive detail and transforming it into a masterpiece.
Of course, when it was time to launch my OWN business, Akula Kreative was the ONE call, I knew I had to make FIRST!
Along with their sister company, Pretty Peas Paperie, Akula Kreative has developed my alter ego, the Fairytale Fashionista, into an identity. From the creation of the original blog site, to the fantastically fabulous logo design, to the paper project and illustrations in the very first book within the series, The Adventures of the Fairytale Fashionistas, along with various product/packaging accoutrements, Nikki has been by my side, inspiring every facet of my company's branding. Her expertise and enthusiasm have been instrumental in the success of the Fairytale Fashionista and a partnership I just cannot do without.
Anyone that works with Nikki once, feels the same way I do, and return to her time and time again. I am constantly referring her services, because there is no one that can top her talent. Just check out her portfolio, the work speaks for itself.
I mean she even came up with her own witty tagline... Akula Kreative "Making the world a cleaner place, one design at a time." And that she does!!! read more
