The Homer Inn and Spa is a total gem. I came with my Mom and got two rooms, both very clean and…read morewith amazing views. I honestly have never felt so relaxed in my life after staying here for 4 days. The massage was top notch, and the sauna was amazing, right on the cliff overlooking the water and eagles of Kachemak Bay. Even in the fog and rain, the setting was incredibly peaceful and lovely, and it the weather actually made it seem even more beautiful and relaxing in my opinion. I will never forget sitting in bed and watching thousands of shorebirds fly by over the course of our stay in early May, or the 5 eagles that flew right above my head as I soaked in the hot tub. It was wonderful to enjoy the beauty and wildness of the Homer Spit from the luxury of such relaxed and wonderful little boutique hotel.

The location is super quaint and an amazing view of the bay. Everyone who we encountered while coming and going was super friendly. As a guest of the Inn you have access to the hot tub. I appreciated how staff asked us to request hot tub times so everyone had the hot tub to themselves making it a more enjoyable experience. The hotel staff use texting as the primary way to communicate. This was nice - when we wanted extra towels we just sent a text.

We went back in to ask…read moreand they said that room didn't exist... then it was said to be down for maintenance and were quick to give us another. Turns out the numbering was weird on the doors and it was nextdoor to the 2nd room we were given. Weird! Nothing spectacular, simple room with the basic necessities and fairly clean. Water pressure was nice and somewhat unexpected. A couple of the towels were stained, which is a bit of a turn off, even though you can see they're laundered. Breakfast is served nextdoor in an old restaurant. Typical hot & cold items for a hotel... waffles, eggs, bacon, cereal, yogurt and plenty of coffee! The young lady tending to the breakfast was very polite and attentive!

It's Motel style, where you park right outside your room. The receptionist at the check in counter was very friendly and suggested I join the Best Western Rewards do I could get points and other promotions. So I did and then I received also some free bottles of water and snacks. The room was simply furnished and our had a private bath. Our room also had a fridge. The room was clean and appeared freshly painted. The free breakfast was in the restaurant across from the parking lot. You need to bring your key and show it to the attendant.

We didn't really get to appreciate and enjoy them to the full extent since we arrived so late, went promptly to bed, and had to get up early in the morning. But based on the amenities and location, this is definitely one place I would return to if I were ever to find myself in Homer again. Check in was a little strange, being that you had to check in in a separate spot outside of town. But other than that, the entire check in process was smooth. The space itself was clean, conveniently located, and the bed was phenomenal! We enjoyed the jetted tub and the clear skies and beautiful views of the water. Walking distance from the harbor, several restaurants, and shops, this is the place to stay in Homer! Just beware, that if you stay here in the off-season, you are pretty much out on the spit by yourself with almost no amenities available. We ended up eating at McDonald's because it was the only thing open in Homer at 8 PM on a Wednesday night.

The property itself was well-kept. The lodges are right on the beach at end of Homer Spit, and there was some maintenance construction happening on two or three lodges while we were there--inside the apartment, it was completely silent, though. The radiant heat flooring was a nice touch, and it was great to have direct beach access through the back door. This place also has incredibly soft, fluffy bath towels--this is one place hotels often scrimp, so I am always appreciative of great towels. The shower was a bit tricky to figure out, but an employee answered the off-hours phone line and walked us through it.
