The first time I went into Aklys was back when, under prior management, things had just gone horribly wrong. Plenty of ink has been spilled about this and it's not worth rehashing here ... but what is worth mentioning is that even in their lowest days, their people were still determined to put their game faces on, and they walked me through the shop and convinced me that they were (and still are) trying to run an honest business. I've patronized them a few times since, and all of my transactions with them have been solid. That, and the process of buying something that the federal government makes deliberately difficult was made incredibly simple by the good folks at Aklys. I see a few negative reviews here and I'm not doubting what they say, but their experiences are entirely inconsistent with mine. read more

As much as it pains me to write this bad review, it has merited nothing other than this... Aklys Defense is an untrustworthy online business that will take your money and pretend in all sincerity to deliver their product and doesn't fulfill their promises. After several attempts by phone and emails to reach this merchant 3 months worth, it hasn't produced any possible results. They haven't made any attempts of shipping the merchandise or have made any attempts of refunding my money. If you are thinking of purchasing anything from Aklys Defense... buyer beware! read more

Aklys Defense - Aklys Defense…Buyer Beware! - Guns & Ammo Near Me - Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Should have read the reviews. A month later and no product and no communication. At first they said they would ship it but then no response. I finally filed a claim with my bank and got my money back. read more

The one star rating is only because there are no minus option ratings I can check regarding this company. BEFORE you do business with Aklys Defense, read the BBB reviews and other reviews on this company. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. THEY WILL LIE TO YOU. Unfortunately, I did not check into this company before placing an order with them. If you do place an order, expect to get a run around from them and don't expect them to be honest with you. Fortunately for me I caught on to their deception quickly and moved forward in a timely manner with taking action against them regarding being reimbursed. DOCUMENT..... DOCUMENT..... DOCUMENT. For the record, Aklys still hasn't reimbursed me. Was told repeatedly that my order would be shipped within a few days with no results or updates. After they stopped responding to my email I threatened to start fraud proceedings and got a quick reply saying my order would be shipped that week. Two weeks later I called and was told I would have tracking the next day but has been weeks and still no delivery or response, filing a chargeback with Visa, sad to say don't waste your time... read more

Ok.... I'm confused. I had posted a review back in November 2019 and coming back to check this site, I now see my review was deleted. How did it get deleted? I didn't delete it. Bottom line is my review was very negative. I would give them a minus rating if I had that option. Aklys Defense CANNOT be trusted when they take your money or tell you something. I had to go through my bank to get my money back from them. BE WARNED.... They WILL lie to you repeatedly leading you on about your order hoping you will go past the 90 day window with the credit card companies regarding getting your money back. If you do order with them, and, if you haven't received your order as promised, you best get with your bank ASAP and get the process going on being reimbursed. Now.... let's see if this post somehow also gets deleted I'm actually going to take a picture of my post for future reference. read more

Ok so this is partially my fault because I live in California and I've been trying to get around all the Cali laws. I found this company online trying to buy a silencer and from the website I was able to buy the silencer and they took my money no problem. Then like 4 months later I had not heard from them nor had I revived a product. I then emailed a few times and got no response which led to calling the store over 10 times to get this company to do anything but lie. Every time I called they said we've sent out a check you'll get your refund soon. Another 4 months roll by with nothing. I finally call and demand to speak with the owner. I still don't get to speak with him but they finally put a check in the mail that day and I receive check but now my check is more then $100 less then what I paid. I called in again to trying get the full refund and they gave me some bs answer of restocking fee and I demanded to talk to the owner again and of course he was out. Like he was always out. This company has been the worst to deal with and I recommend you stay away from them read more

I dropped my gun off 06/22/19 to be repaired, simple fix, I called and called the operations manager Dennis, never ONE returned call, I stopped in on 08/14/19 since I was passing by, spoke with Dennis and Joe Meaux, paid for my repair and was told they'll contact me when it's ready. Not one Call, not one reply from messages, and they STILL have my gun. WARNING, NEVER NEVER NEVER do business with this company. I checked their rating on BBB site, they had 8 complaints and a D- rating...I wish I had checked the BBB sight first, because I've found all their stories to be legit, because I got the same run around!!! Price gouging on ammo. Tripled the price. Will not return for ammo. Did not expect this from someone who seemed so honest

I ordered my butstock in MAY and 6 months later have still not responded. I have emailed them 3 times with no response. I have called and Gotten no response as well. I attempted to file a complaint with the better business bureau and they stated they were ALREADY under investigation. I paid 300$ and unfortunately I might need to contact my bank and get a refund. read more

How long does it take a package mailed from mammoth drive to Bunkie? well my part has been mailed three times by Joe and Dennis 31 days later still nothing. Dennis and Joe each use different excuses. Dennis lies to me and Joe lies to my wife, who is friends with him...Buyer beware. read more

I was initially impressed with the great pricing but my enthusiasm was quickly diminished. I dropped off a striped down Mosin barrel and chamber on 3/18/20 to have a little bit of machine work and 1 color Cerakote performed (machine work consisted of boring the muzzle brake to the correct caliber, tapering the muzzle brake to the barrel, and little clean up where 3 holes were drilled and tapped in the receiver). I was told initially that they were backed up and it would take 4 to 6 weeks which was no problem. They told me it would be $175.00 for everything and I immediately paid $180 (due to lack of change) and I was happy with doing so. Fast forward 4 weeks, I called on 4/17/20 to see if it was too late to change the color of the Cerakote in which they informed me that it wouldn't be a problem because they had to put in an order anyway. I inquired about the progress of their work load and they informed me that it should be at the end of the 6 week period for completion. I completely understood and was ok with it due that I scheduled not to have it before 6 weeks anyway. I called again on 5/3/20 to inquire about the progress and they said that they were just getting to the backlog and it should be a few more days to get it done. I completely understood because I understand how shops can get backed up and deadlines sometimes cannot be met. I went by the shop on 5/23/20 because I haven't heard a thing. I wanted to get a refund because they have not touched it. They told me that if I left it with them 1 more week they would complete it. We came to an agreement that if they did the machine work that day, so I could pick it up, they could keep the price I paid to have the Cerakote done and not coat it. I got a call that afternoon and they told me that all they had left was to taper the muzzle brake but the machinist left for the day. They informed me that my barrel was chucked in the lathe and will be complete before noon on Monday 5/25/20. I agreed I would pick it up then. Monday 5/25/20, I swung by the shop at 12:30 to pick up my Mosin and I was informed that THEY HAVE NOT TOUCHED IT YET. He brought the barrel to me and it wasn't even in the lathe. He told me that I can leave it with them a few more days to get it done or get a refund. I got the refund. This is some of the worst customer service I have ever seen. I would have much more respect for the business if they would be completely honest and quit the lying. In my experience, they are great if you want to store your weapon at their location for 10 1/2 weeks but I can't comment on the quality of the work because I have yet to see any work. read more
