Akins is a very relaxing little spot- I kept thinking of it as the perfect place for a writing residency. The inn features two rooms (Sunrise and Sunset) which are across the hall from each other. Each features a spacious bedroom, large closet, television, fridge, and bathroom. And every morning, a very tasty breakfast is served downstairs (the highlight for me was the homemade granola!). There is also a communal living room downstairs with ample guide books, magazines, board games, and the like, and there is a screened-in porch where breakfast is served on warmer days (unfortunately, I wasn't there on a warmer day). Do note two things - first, there is a dog and a VERY lovely cat (indeed, Henry made my stay charming). And second, there's very little in walking distance of the Akins (in other words, bring a car). read more
