I trained at this location when I originally got my guard card over 14 years ago and again after accidentally failing to renew my guard card and letting it lapse. But also worked with the trainer Kathy once I started managing a division for an OC security company. Both times I did training with Kathy was a great experience. She went through all the courses in detail and made sure we learned the information well. The process was detailed and easy. Working with her once in my management position was great. She would assist me with new hires I'd send over who didn't have a guard card and be sure they got the training they needed. She'd also send any candidates whom just completed their guard card training with her over to me for possible open positions. Great place for guard card and other similar training! read more

I have done ALL of my security guard training through Security Training Center. I have nothing but good things to say about their courses and their support. If you are serious about a career in security, then look no further for a company that can provide everything you need for this career. From your guard card, to your chemical agents card, baton certification, to exposed firearms permit, and even your CCW! There is no reason to go anywhere else! They offer it all and at great prices! read more

Kathy has a hard time speaking English. The training videos were from 50 years ago. Training is minimal and during the video everyone was on there phone or smoking cigarettes out back during the class. read more

I called AKI Security Training to get information and the lady who answered the phone was so RUDE!! She would not give me information only said"we open at 9 come in take class no appointment needed when you come" I said I would like information please as in how long the class or classes are and she just repeated the same line I was about to ask the cost and she hung up on me. I proceeded to call bac, and she would just hang up on me. She did this a few times. I was recommended in going to this place but with this type of treatment I think they just want your money. Horrible customer service. read more

Kathy is so rude! She talks to people any kind of way and she hangs up in potential customers faces. I don't understand how someone that works in the front office is so rude and lacks customer service, she can barely speak English as well. read more

Went there today, Kathy is a no nonsense instructor. Takes her job very seriously. I will continue using her services for whatever security guards renewal & education. Thank you Kathy see you again soon read more

Kathy is the best in the business! I got my 8 hour guard card certificate, live-scan, DOJ + FBI, Finger print + on-line processing & BSIS application fee all for $220 even. If you listen to exactly what she says, you should have no problem passing. I got my guard card certificate 12/31/25, got my BSIS License # thru email on 1/1/26, got hired for a job on 1/2/26 and start working on 1/6/26. Highly recommend! read more

Kathy is the best and this establishment works quickly with no BS, strait to the point and bang, all done!

AKI Security Training Center was great! Kathy made the process of getting my Guard Card and Exposed Firearm License super fast and easy. All you need to do is listen to what she tells you to do and don't ask stupid questions. She's straight forward so if you're "soft" this isn't the place for you and being a security guard isn't either. read more

Kathy is amazing, efficient, and funny. She was able to get me my guard card within 2 days. The class takes 1 whole day but I think it's worth every penny, definitely recommend if you're getting your guard card! read more

The Asian woman is very rude, and kept yelling at me. I couldn't have a decent discussion w her. Unless you don't mind being treated this way then this review may not matter. All they do is show videos, they don't teach or explain anything to you and if you have a question or concern she gets mad. When I asked for a refund, she yelled at me . What a shame , they should not be open for business. read more

After reading some of the low rating reviews regarding the training center and the instructor. I was a bit skeptical going here for my Baton Training ($180.00 fee by the way (not bad on the pricing)). I went today and I was completely astonished on how great my experience was. Kathy is experienced and does things by the book. Sure, there's a language barrier but with some patience you can understand her. If you're used to having things come easy and if you're emotionally sensitive then I suggest you go to another location for your permits. Overall the "tough love" she gives is for a reason. She wants you to learn without having to cheat (like sharing answers with others) or rushing to complete the course. That being said...you will be there for 3-4hrs. Read the materials because it will come in handy down the line, be patient, respectful, and don't rush. She's a great, hardworking instructor, and she just wants you to learn the right way. read more

DO NOT COME HERE RATS AND ROCHES NEEDS TO CLOSE DOWN I came one morning for a training as I'm sitting down filling out paper work I see a rat , a mouse , a mice jumping and running back in fourth behind something it was a big ol Roach in his mouth . I scream and told her . She said she knows she has been trying to catch it . I told her I'm leaving I'm uncomfortable this is disgusting, inhumane and unsanitary. She got upset and aggressive. She yelled at me , snatch papers out my hand saying I can't leave with the papers I filled out with my social security number on it . She can barely talk or speak English cant't understand a word she is saying looks like she about to die. Very disrespectful very mean old lady . Needs to closed down needs to be reported her and that so called business of hers . read more

If looking to get your guard card I recommend this place easy process and you get everything done that day make sure you clear you schedule takes around 6-8 hours and at reasonable price very worth it read more

I want to begin this review by stating that you will not find a more efficient establishment for obtaining your certifications than this location. Go anywhere else and you will be risking having to perform one or more of the difficult steps of the process by yourself, and you will most likely mess it up in one way or another. You may not be able to find a more efficient certification establishment anywhere else, but that should not prevent people from being honest about the negative aspects of coming here. As anyone being completely honest will tell you, Kathy is so difficult to understand that anyone new to the industry will leave with a plethora of questions that should've been answered by Kathy without them being asked. Granted, you'll learn everything you can't understand from her on the job, but it doesn't change the fact she doesn't speak English well by any standard. Even worse is the way she speaks down to everyone, but I just assume it is a culture barrier that prevents her from realizing she is being disrespectful at unjustifiable levels. My best advice to any prospective patron of this place is to go, pay your fees, expect to take more than an hour, and do your best to not take any dig Kathy takes too seriously. Reading your pamphlet and learning on the job will be enough for you. Get your guard card, then your pepper spray, taser, and baton certifications, then finally do your firearms. Take it from a veteran, and don't waste time and money unnecessarily. read more

I am delighted to get my Guard card quickly. Kathy has been working so dedicated and professional. It is an outstanding service.

Went to get my guard card on the 24th not really knowing what to expect as it was my first experience with AKI Security. Got there right as it opened at 9 and was greeted by Kathy, immediately she got to work on getting all the paperwork we needed filled out. She works fast and is professional, while putting her own humor in. I was with a class of a few other guys and we all had a few laughs and learned alot. Kathy does EVERYTHING same day. You leave after 5-6 hours with guard card, finger printing, live scan all done. Will be returning for further classes, thank you Kathy!!! read more

AKI Security Training Center - Proof of permit - Vocational & Technical School Near Me - Huntington Beach, California

I came in to do fingerprints because she was close and cheap. Mistake. She didn't wear a mask, had no sanitizer for hands or the finger print machine. Wasn't wearing gloves. On top of that, she was very harsh, rude, and (as another review mentioned) talks to you as if you're a child. Would definitely not recommend or come here again. I was doing my best to social distance, and she was complaining that I needed to stand closer. I told her I'm trying to social Distance best I can, especially since she's not wearing a mask. She is also hard to understand, but that's easier to work around. Find somewhere else to go. read more

Ill explain the Armed Guard Permit pricing from my knowledge and what i paid. In total I paid 244 flat. Thats how much you will spend for the firearms class. 160 for the class and 84 for the live fingerprint scan. You will pay 244 but there is one more fee. After you finish and pass the class you have to head to the range at the other location 10 min away. When you pass the instructor will hand you a form and you will add it to the other forms Kathy will hand you. . Those forms you have to send yourself through post office. In that packet of (4) forms you have to send a money order or check of $100 . Starting the class - You will fill out forms basic info of yourself then do the class. Watch a couple videos and 2 tests. One is naming the parts of 2 hand guns. You'll be handed a booklet to study. Then a multiple choice , easy.. Kathy will go over everything not missing anything. She is very smart and will teach you many things. The last thing you will demonstrate you can pick up a blue dummy pistol and hold it correctly. You will load 3 pistols one by one demonstrating you can do it. 1st a Revolver 2nd Glock 19 3rd "Final Test" Beretta M9. If you don't know she will teach you anyway. Regardless if you say you know she will teach you. BE ADVISED- The Range is only open Mondays Thursdays Fridays and Saturdays. Just incase you want to do the one day Course. read more

Kathy is the best in her field and does everything exactly how it should be done. She is upfront, honest, straightforward and most importantly no bs. If you are looking for security training, guard card etc. this is the place to go. You will not find a more efficient and effective training center anywhere else. Disregard the negative reviews here, if you cannot take the way she speaks to you, then you should reconsider the field you are applying for. There will be many more situations you will deal with in the field that will be more pertinent than the way someone speaks to you. Nothing she says should be taken as a personal offense as she is only trying to help you get to where you need to be, whether that be security, law enforcement or military. Thank you Kathy for everything you have provided me in order to get my career started! read more

Instead of having to wait and complete the background and application process step by step Aki Training Center allows you to complete the training and background check in one Fell Swoop - 1 day . In spite of her accent if you listen you can intuitively understand Kathy with ease and see she knows exactly what she's talking about. In addition she has a genius sense of humor! It's clear to see Kathy wants the absolute best for everyone she works with. She walked myself and other trainees at the facility through the process explaining to us everything in detail. She engages everyone in an exciting way and her humor makes the time pass by. Kathy is an amazingly caring and compassionate person who LOVES her work and everyone she works with. read more
