Corvallis Farmers' Market - Wed market October

Not as many farmers and producers present on a Wednesday but this is still a great market even with fewer participants. We filled up our cooler with fresh produce including organic salad greens, kira squash, romano beans, multiple kinds of grapes, kumquats (no kidding...the farmer grows these in a hoop house with other citrus), eggplant, and multiple kinds of pears, apples and plums. We also had a chance to talk to quince farmers who make quince paste, a fav of ours with Fall and Spanish cheese selections, and buy a couple of jars to tuck away. And bread selections from Wild Yeast including small rounds of sourdough whole wheat, hazelnut and cinnamon raisin batard all of which were available in whole loaf and smaller half loaf sizes. Wild Yeast mini rye pastry galette with local mixed apples as filling was the perfect breakfast treat and the mini Marguerite fougasse and cranberry Swiss cheese roll were dinner that night at our destination. If we lived in the Corvallis area we would be regular shoppers here and be able to buy the things like a marvelous assortment of microgreens, fresh made cheeses, pollinator plants and all sorts of produce that we didn't have room to bring home. ACCESSIBILITY: Street surfacing which is firm and stable works for shoppers of all abilities and since I was using a wheelchair on this trip I particularly appreciated that. Although the ADA is 33 years old and requires outdoor markets to be on surfaces that allow everyone equal access you would be astounded how many still set up on deep gravel lots or deep grass, neither of which allow disabled shoppers access. Good for the Corvallis organizers for getting this right!

Kim and Erika's crystal stand was great. They had some beautiful pieces and reasonable pricing. They are super nice and I found 4 pieces that went home with me. Will definitely be back just for their stand.

I initially wondered if it was worth hiring them for ag consulting additionally since we are so small. I tend to think of this service as something for large commercial operations. Boy, are we glad we got the consulting part too. We've never had sheep before and this was absolutely worth it's weight in gold (or Amex.) Brian and Michelle came out to our property and identified the types of grass, appropriateness of our fencing and shelter, and recommended an amount of animals based on the lot size. They immediately followed up by email with a written list of specific supplies they recommend. Our ram and ewes were selected based on this meeting and delivered to us. We really felt like all our questions were answered and when our first sheepergency came up, they immediately responded to our anxious questions. So many people I know are trying to add some element of farming to their already busy day job lives, but don't know where to start. I highly recommend Brian and Michelle for even small properties: let them save you the expense and headache reinventing the wheel from their years of learned experience!

I can't say enough about this little market that seems to continue to grow and just gets better and…read morebetter! Some of my favorite vendors are Pablo Munoz farms, the best cherry tomatoes in the market BAR none! They also have a wide variety of veggies(poblanos are insane!, corn, onions, squash, berries and their Jams!) and fruits and they are sooo NICE! Love Christy (and her whole family) who makes the BEST grilled cheese in Newport (we go every Saturday just to get a cup of their soup and a grilled cheese!), they have awesome dog treats by Marc, Henry has the most amazing garlic I have ever used while cooking and his honey is super interesting and flavorful! Gathering together is also a Mecca of veggies and bread! Also love Didi and her breads and don't miss her cinnamon rolls oh MY they are gooey and delicious! I can go in and on. We spend the summer here and never miss a market!!! So many wonderful things! It's a MUST stop for Saturday's!!! This is such a cute local market. It moves from summer to fall for weather purposes so check out their Facebook page for the location. This little market has everything you need! Two bread makers, lots of veggies from Gathering Farms, the tie dye t shorts are cool, several knitters, several photographers and some arts and crafts, an essential oil guy who has beautiful oils and creams and the food... don't forget the food!! We just love the tacos from tic tax taco. The roasted chicken taco with their mixed salsa serious melts in your mouth!! Sooooo good and the hubby had the chorizo and egg taco which he loved! They grill the tortillas so they are a little warm and crispy. Great job! Then I grabbed a grilled cheese and a bowl of soup from "Superb" and I can't think of a better name for their food stand! Their food is just that SUPERB!!! The sourdough bread was off the charts good!! And their soups are super hearty and made with fresh veggies!! We will definitely go back!

This farmers market is a little less hectic I'd say, and I dig it!…read more Nestled in a square parking lot, next to a few small businesses and a New Seasons, is the Orenco Farmers Market. Many times I've seen it and many times I've avoided it. But now I regret not checking it out the first time they opened up a few years ago. Here's a few tips and details: * Parking * Most folks park in the New Seasons parking lot, or down the residential streets. The times I've been here, the lot has never been full. So I've never had any issue finding parking. * Favorite Vendors * ~ The Pie Guy - out of North Plains. If you yelp that, you'll see why he's different. Love their variety of pies. ~ Pilgrim's Roasted Nut'z - Another North Plains favorite! You can literally go nuts buying more than one bag. ~ Kookido - UGH, mochi-filled cookies! I'm a mochi lover and chewy soft cookie kind of guy. These are heaven in a container! ~ Pablo Munoz Fruits - I'm all about their peaches and berries! ~ Martinez Family Farms - Come here early for these guys. They always have a long line to pay. ~ Favorite Produce - I dig their fresh flower bouquets. ~ Helvetia Vineyards & Winery - Another local wine favorite. Try a sample! ~ Baird Family Orchards - mmm mmm, gotta love them peaches! Especially their Sweet Sue yellow peaches. ~ Our Little Farm and Nursery - Haven't bought anything from these guys, but they're the ones that freshly roast peppers. People love'em! ~ Slow Rise Bakehouse - Located out of Forest Grove. Check out my ROTD for them ;) ~ Thompson Farms - The "pear guy"! He's picking bosc pears soon. I cannot wait! ~ Papa's Sunflower Seeds - Flavored roasted sunflower and pumpkin seeds. These are the guys that do team fundraising. ~ Ochoas Catering & Events - Necessito burrito! They wrap up fat burritos (and more) and their salsas are simply el mejor! For the most part, if it's a hot summer day, the market can close a bit early due to excessive heat. I've yet to go here on a rainy day. But in closing for my next visit, I'm trying the pasta lady, the hot sauce guy, and the fresh mini donuts. Oh and the mouthful momo stand. Support your locals folks!

From…read morethe moment you step foot into the market, you're greeted with the vibrant colors of fresh produce, hand-craft goods, yummy food, and more! It's a good opportunity to support local and small. Parking wasn't an issue as there is desinated parking areas in apartment lots in front of the market. My favorite part was the local food vendors! We grabbed momos (delicious), tacos (best tacos in Oregon in my opinion), and hummus. HIGHLIGHT OF MY WEEKEND! S/O to Ochoa Catering and Events and Hummus Spot for putting my partner and I in our taco and hummus era. The service from these vendors were great and it was fun chatting about how their business started. Orenco Station - Hillsboro market is laid back and a good break from the hustle and bustle of city life. We will be back!
