But I decided to give them another chance after learning that they had strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and Marion berries available for U-Pick. I'm so glad I did as I had a much better experience this go around! Not only did we get a TON of delicious, perfectly ripe berries, but decided to enjoy lunch on the little patio of the farm store. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with blueberry spread and it was fabulous. We also got the Dubai chocolate strawberries for dessert and WOW! Delicious. The employees there the day we went were kind and helpful. We'll definitely be back again!

While our first stop ended…read moreup being the best of the bunch, this farm specializes in marionberries (26 acres) with some organic blueberries (1-1/2 acres) on the side. My son is fixated on blueberries, so he happily sat on the grass and picked berries from the low hanging bushes while the rest of us focused on the marionberries. The highlight for my son is that the family that owns this farm are serious Oregon Ducks fans, so they get bonus points from him. Compared to other farms, the pickings were a little slim, but the folks are very nice.

There was only about 3 people already picking and while we were there probably only 10 other people came so there was plenty of space to pick with out people crowding you! There were 2 different kinds of blueberries although we only picked 1 kind, but gave a nice variety between sweet and tart. The owner was very nice and had buckets lined with bags all ready for us so we could just pick into the bucket and take out the bag when done and ready to take home. You also cannot beat the price at $1.75 a pound! I believe we looked at the organic farm in Portland and it was about $3.50 a pound and I am sure a lot more crowded. I am going to try and get back here again this year and definitely next year.

Today was a perfect sunny day to stop in for some fresh sugar snap peas and of course a strawberry shortcake. The peas were great. Big healthy peas. And my shortcake was amazing. I love this time of the year. My only negative about my shortcake I suppose would be I wish they had more strawberries in the sauce and maybe even topped it with some fresh cut strawberries. That would take it to the next level. I will definitely return for another go around as they offer a variety of fresh produce. Oh and I also snagged a bottle of local Bloody Mary mix. Anyways go stop by and check it out

I wish we had a kitchen where we were staying at because I would have loved taking back some veggies and berries with me to make something special on our trip. Instead, I got a selection of preserves in the farm market bing cherry, farm market boysenberry, wild and rare huckleberry, old fashion mountain blackberry, and old fashion red raspberry. I also got two jars of pasta sauce in roasted garlic and the other was portobello mushroom. I got one jar of Carolina reaper salsa as well. I thought these items would be great to bring back home and enjoy. Cashier was very friendly. Everything came out to about sixty bucks which wasn't bad at all. I have already tried the salsa and it is nice and spicy. The huckleberry preserves are good. I spooned a little into a small bowl and topped it with Tillamook vanilla bean ice cream and some granola crumbles. There are so many possibilities with the what I got and I am looking forward to trying everything. I look forward to trying more items from Farmer John's when we are in the area again.
