Not a place I like going but needs must. The jobcentre in…read moresunderland is opposite Joplings. The nearest car park is at the Limelight (next to the casino). The building has automatic doors and a ramp so is easily accessable, especially for prams or wheelchair users. The staff at the help desk try their hardest to help, but always seem busy as the queue is never ending. Downstairs there are a few computer screens where you can check the latest jobs and print out any that you want to know more about. There is often a 'runner' so if you need help with the machines just call them over (had to a few times as there was no paper in the machine). Upstairs is where you sign on. There is no lift, so if your in a wheel chair or have difficulties going upstairs they will arrange for someone to see you downstairs. But if you have a pram or kids then tough. You have to leave your pram downstairs and take the kids through the heavy doors and up the stairs. The help desk people are good in that they will try to keep an eye out for your pram (don't take you most expensive poshest pram as they state they are liable if it gets stolen!). The staff upstairs seem really stressed and overworked. They always keep you waiting but that is not because they are doing nothing, the always sseem to have people at their desks. So if you have to visit Sunderland jobcentre, get there on time, use the machines, but have some snacks on hand as you will not be seen on time.
