I had the Maki set dinner. It also came with miso soup. The miso soup here is ok. Its well blended and tastes fine. It just wasn't jumping out at me. The sushi however was good. I had the spicy tuna, spicy salmon and california rolls. as part of my set meal. I'm glad that the spicy ones were actually spicy, so many places are afraid to go spicy. One of my kids isn't really into asian food, and needed ketchup to help out his chicken tempura. As someone who absolutely loves sushi, I really enjoyed their rolls! The portions are great and everything was prepared well. Service was quite quick and the waiter was quite nice and accommodating and refilled my water without asking. They also had some special rolls I've never quite seen before and so I would come back just to try them. Overall enjoyed the vibes and the food.

I remembered hating the spicy salmon roll last time but I've been back twice in the past 2 weeks for this specifically. I was craving ramen and with the limited possibilities I came back to Bentobox remembering their udon wasn't too bad last time. I loved the interior of the restaurant; how clean and homey it was. The booths are so welcomed for some privacy. The first time I went I ordered beef ramen and spicy crunchy salmon roll. Ramen was on point. The noodles were al-dente and the miso broth can match bigger chains in Toronto. The beef was plentiful and thick. Will definitely order this when the weather gets a little cooler. The spicy salmon roll both times were great. Huge chunks of fish and the spicy sauce had a nice kick (more sriracha than mayo). However, their tempura bits were not crunchy. They were somewhat hard and soggy. The hotpot bulgogi came out in a huge set. Definitely worth the $14. It had 3-set side dish (bahn chan), salad, and cucumber roll. The bulgogi hotpot was delicious. Rich in flavor and filled with generous chunks of mushrooms and beef. The rice was soggy but maybe it's because I'm not used to their rice. I'll be back sometime this week or next to either eat their ramen or udon. Tip: The sushi is somewhat expensive ($7.50 for the spicy salmon roll) but great quality and great service.

We ordered 4 meals, too much for the 3 of us, but we wanted to try different dishes. The soondubu was a favourite, and although not the best I've had, and lacking a bit of heat for me, it was still very good, and my colleagues enjoyed the spice level. Lucky for me there was some gochujang on the table, so I was able to warm things up! The bibimbap was good, not sure the bowl was hot enough, as there was only a bit of crispy rice, and the egg was a bit over. The gochujang came in handy again here, but the flavours in the dish and accompaniments were good. Same for the bulgogi...the best part of the plate was the buchimgae (pancake). Not that the bulgogi was bad, it was just good. We also had a maki platter not pictured that was decent as well. They have little individual table rooms (we weren't in one this trip) which adds to the authentic feel of the place. Service was good, though a little slow on the maki (hence no photo) A good introduction to Korean food for my friends, enough to inspire them to want to try more.

The restaurant was pretty busy around 7pm on Saturday evening so you might want to make reservations. We got 5 dishes to share for the 5 of us. Note that they are pretty slow with preparing the food so don't come here if you need a quick dinner.

Service is friendly, fast, and efficient. The menu consists of all the typical and traditional Korean dishes. The banchan comes in 3 small dishes (bean sprouts, pickled radish, and fish cake slices). The warm Korean rice tea is also great as usual (one of my favourite tea types).

I have been craving soup and decided to try this place and I am so glad I trusted my gut. First of all the portion size was huge. The flavour was dynamite. The pork was so tender and practically fell off the bone. With every bite I had a little pork and potato. During the winter months this is definitely going to be my go to. My order also came with rice and kimchi. I added the kimchi to the soup and that was delicious as well. I can't speak to the whole menu but this soup was a 10/10. The service was fast. I got my order within 20 minutes. But I placed it at around 9pm during a weeknight so chances are that is a slower period.

There are several mispelled words and other issues with spacing and formatting printed in the menu which for me personally gives off a bad initial impression and lowers the overall vibe of the dining establishment. The food and service does make up for it a little bit. Our waitress was quick to offer house tea early on after we have arrived. The complimentary kimchi and onion for each diner was also always welcome. As an appetizer, I enjoyed our order of small Boneless Fried Chicken flavored with Cheese *Sprinkle. (The other available flavors include Sweet & Sour, Soy Garlic, Honey, Spicy, Spicy *Honey) There were enough pieces of the chicken for sharing between our group of 5 people. Something else I appreciated was the authentic feel of the rice being served in a hot stone pot inside the wooden crates. My main order was menu item #1 Combination Soon Tofu (Beef, Shrimp, Mussel) + Hot Stone Pot Rice. I find the order OK to good. There was too much going on in the soup to find any unifying or distinctive taste. If I have to order again, I would choose a different soup dish sticking to 1 main topping instead of 3. Another main dish I have gotten to sample was menu item #12 Pork Bone Soup. I wouldn't rank it among the best Korean Pork Bone Soups (Gamjatang) I have tried. The meat could have used more time cooking as it was not as tender as I normally expect for this dish. Lastly, I find the overall theming of the place lacking. Considering the restaurant's name, I expected them to specialize with tofu dishes or at least to have a signature menu item having tofu as the main ingredient. The tofu I did have included in my dish was nothing special.

Fast forward to 2026. We're in the Toronto area and I notice there are a handful of Myung Dong style restaurants on my search. We ended up picking this one because it was the closest one from our hotel. Without knowing the quality of the other options, we were so glad we made this choice. Similar menu and the kimchi is one of the stars of the show. Slightly unripe, but loaded with garlic, we couldn't get enough of it. The kalguksu had a mild, but peppery broth; and all members of my family thought it was the best they'd ever had. We also ordered the bossam (pork belly) and steamed mandoo. Eating here was the highlight of our trip. We even considered going back the next day!
