For us, One beef dish was quite good, One seafood pasta dish was just OK, but the calamari was beyond rubbery. One dish had beef that tasted liver-y and the overall flavor was more like a Chinese dish, like just soy sauce. It was okay. I've always heard that Peruvian food was bland and they were right. I had the chicken noodle soup with "too many" string beans and carrots and yes I can make it better, sorry. My husband had chicken breast with rice and what have ya but we can still make that better as well. I don't know what the specialty was because we were not told . We never had Peruvian food before. While eating the soup if I were not careful I could had choked on bones with no problem. Husband did not rave on the chicken. That's an issue. this was one of the worst experiences at a restaurant that I've had. First of all as soon as you walk, it's a small area and it feels like you're walking into a sauna. Myself and all my family that were there were sweating profusely. Felt like the air was set to 95° no lie. The whole time I was wiping sweat from my face and neck with a napkin. It was absolutely horrible. I would've got up and left, but it was my nephew's birthday so I really couldn't do that. Our waiter looked fresh out of high school and he hardly knew any English, which was very aggravating and made me very angry because he couldn't understand a lot of what we were saying. I never saw an adult in sight. It was our waiter who look like right out of high school and another boy about the same age. We had 13 people in our party and our reservation was for 5 o'clock. We did not leave until 745. He definitely should've had another person helping him preferably an adult who knew what they were doing. My fiancé and I asked if we could have water because he was going around asking who wanted what to drink and 20 minutes went by we still did not receive our water yet. So I asked him can we get our water? So basically he forgot about us, 10 minutes later he came back with our water that had no ice in it, it was room temp tap water. The food was OK. It wasn't nothing to brag about. My fiancé ordered the fried rice with steak strips that was included in the rice and the steak strips were very chewy and rubbery. Also, if you're gonna get the Peruvian rice with any type of meat in it. It's a really big portion so two people could actually share it. I do love Peruvian but I don't know if it was just that day or a daily problem-it really smelled off putting upon entry. Not a seafood smell but just bad. We were already seated so we did end up eating there but the waft of this bad odor was overpowering. My one true complaint was, I ordered something to go (fettuccine) and when I got home I noticed it had been poured into the styrofoam piping hot, melting it. This is a lovely family owned restaurant where they make you feel welcomed and appreciated. They have a dedicated vegan/vegetarian section on the menu with a number of different selections. I ordered the Tacu Tacu con champiñones and it was very good! There was enough for two meals! Just after we ordered, Manuel our server (who was absolutely amazing by the way,) brought us samples of Chicha Morado (Purple Corn Drink) and shared that it was vegan. He also told us how to make it and brought the purple corn to show us -- we changed our drink orders right away! Looove the food! But HATEEE their packaging. Styrofoam is not good for me or the environment. Nothing worse than seeing your fries melted in the styrofoam and know you're also eating that plastic. My expectations of Ají Limon were high, yet fell short as soon as I ate the first bite of the Ceviche. The squid (cuddle fish) was sponge soft and octopus was over cooked (possibly over boiled). The place is dim, small, and more of an eye sore. I am Peruvian, haved lived in Peru and take pride in my country's food. Such a great place to eat delicious Peruvian food. The ceviche is divine. I am from Miami and moved to this area recently and I am not use to ordering ceviche for less 15 dollars and getting such a large portion. A SAD EXPERIENCE & VERY SLOW SERVICE I was actually the "First to Review" this place some two years ago and had a good memory of our time there. We have been looking forward to returning & even purchased a restaurant.com coupon in anticipation of the event. We arrived early (Florida style) on a Monday at 4:30 for dinner. We started with the Palta Rellena Camaron, which was avacado stuffed with shrimp. It was a huge helping, plenty for two as an appetizer, but the stuffing had very little shrimp, and instead contained an abundance of mayonnaise, peas, corn and carrots. The result was not impressive. For dinner we had the grilled chicken with salad and rice and the grilled pork chops with rice and beans. The meal was average. The rice was undercooked. Our appetizer arrived after 30-40 minutes and the actual dinner at 5:45. We had a Tres Leches for dessert & it was quite good. At 6:05 I asked for & received the bill, and gave the server the restaurant.com coupon. She said, sorry we can't accept it after 6 pm. Huh? I've never run into this before, and we'd been there since 4:30. It was only after 6 due to their super slow service. She was steadfast and refused to accept it. We paid and left. Doubt we'll be back. There are too many other good restaurants around, including Peruvian. El Gaucho Inca shall remain our favorite. read more
