This place is wonderful for kids. There are so many things for them to do, run and play, however…read morethe young lady who works on Fridays for the open gym 9:30-11:00- she is INCREDIBLY RUDE, UNKIND, UNPROFESSIONAL and not a pleasant person, she has been this way several times when we have attended. Especially to be working in this capacity with children and the community, it's very unfortunate for Aspen. Because of her unkindness, it makes me not want to bring my children here to play. Very sad situation. However, Mrs. Heather who instructs the gymnastics times M-T, SHE IS INCREDIBLE! She is so wonderful with the children, parents, and EVERYONE! We LOVE HER!

I spent a week camping in the mountains outside of Aspen last week. The last time I was up there,…read morethe rec center on the far west side of town offered $6 showers to the public. They've since moved that service to the "red brick" facility in the middle of town, but they cut it off at 3:00 p.m. After I made a mad dash across the pass and down 82 to get there in time, I arrived at 3:06. I asked the elderly gentleman at the desk if I could just jump in and out really quickly, as I was only 6 minutes past the deadline. "Well, the rules are the rules". Please??? "You know, we've got other things going on..." Me looking around at the empty space. "Huh?" Lame. Unhelpful. Would not recommend.

My fiance and I recently had our first outdoor climbing experience in Aspen (we climbed…read moreIndependence Pass). Our guide, Mike, was absolutely incredible. We explained that we had experience climbing indoors, but had never climbed outdoors nor had we done lead roping -- he taught us the latter, and made the former an absolute joy. Mike found routes for us that were challenging but do-able, gave us pointers when we needed/asked for them (but let us figure out the puzzle on our own a lot of times, which I really appreciated), and even let us run over time to do one more climb. When we got stuck on a route, Mike would climb it and mark good holds with chalk. And, when I took a solid 20 minutes on one route, he didn't rush me or make me feel like a poor climber at all. Overall, a fantastic experience that was well worth the money. We'll cherish the experience for long to come! Note: Aspen Expeditions does climbing tours for level Beginner - Advanced. Mike told us that he has many "regulars" who visit him from all over to climb, and that he'll meet up with clients to climb in Argentina, all over Europe, etc.
