WOW! My friends and I took a trip to queenstown and we wanted to experience the most adrenaline packed activities that we could and the AJ Hackett Bungy was by far the best one we did! Although the price feels a bit steep, I think it is totally worth it. This is a once in a lifetime experience and the facilities here are definetly where you want to be a for your first Bungy. The staff was extremely friendly and encouraging when I was feeling a bit nervous. The price also includes free picture and video downloads which is a total bonus. I did the Kawarau bridge jump and I cannot recommend it enough! Shoutout for giving us fellow adventure tourism employees and great industry discount - we LOVED it!! :)

As the saying goes, when in Rome do as the Romans, so you can't visit the world's 1st commercial bungy jumping site and not go for the full experience and jump too! I never imagined I would ever partake in bungy jumping but all the fun adrenaline rushing activities that Queenstown has to over is contagious and rubbed off on me. Honestly had I not convinced my husband to jump and purchased our jump time for the following morning the night prior while enjoying wine at a local winery I don't know if we would have had the guts to sign up once we got there. Walking into the building they have videos playing of jumpers and all sorts of cool pictures and gear. Upon checkin they weigh you twice and write your weight on your hand with a permanent marker to ensure the proper counter weights are used when you jump. Safety information is reviewed, sign release of liability and off you go to the bridge. Huge crowds are cheering, taking videos and photos at the viewing area but it seems like few actually make the trek to jump. The crowd was huge as tourist buses stop to watch. Once at the bridge two staff greeted me, weighed me again to check the weight written on my hand and then started getting me all harnessed up. Safety was reviewed and before I knew it my time to jump was upon us! I wanted to go for the full experience with a water touch, or as they said sometimes turns into a full body dunk into the water. However temperatures were too cold and they weren't allowing water touches the day we jumped. I was bummed to learn I couldn't do the water touch but also comforted that they took all factors into consideration to make sure it was a safe experience. Super glad I didn't chicken out and did the jump at the world's 1st commercial bungy location, which had pretty views! While I had a blast and my adrenaline was pumping like none other, I was relieved to land on the boat safely and get the harness off my feet as it was super tight! Granted I would rather have it super tight any day than not tight enough. This is the place to have your bucket list bungy jumping experience! Be sure to check online for discount coupons as they tend to offer deals. We also got the photo package with the video as we didn't have friends or family to capture this once in a lifetime event for us. Highly recommend A.J. Hackett Bungy and getting their photo and video package!

Now this bungee jump was on my bucket list of things to do if I ever visited New Zealand. I had to convince my friend who is afraid of heights to just join me as a spectator. I had signed up for the nevis jump and the swing but the swing ride was sold out. Once inside the office, the staff are real cool and explain what to expect. By this time, my heart is pounding out of my body from anxiety. You see the pictures and videos and start second guessing yourself like, do you really want to do this???? This crazy New Yorker says, just do it. YOLO and the journey continues. I get weighed and asked about medical issues. We board the cool tour bus to the jump site and I have never felt so nervous in my life. I'm looking around and seeing all these younger people and have to keep calming my middle age azz down. A sista was shook and II'm just on the tour bus. Thank God for the tour driver who was hilarious and helped calmed my nerves. He played a lot of related music like "you got to have faith" and " hanging on a prayer" while telling jokes. But the higher the bus travels up those mountains and you get to see how far down you are jumping, the nerves are back! We get our protective gear on and I'm still calming my self down as my friend walks around without a care in the world with her spectator stamp on her hand, lol. Her azz was supposed to get my pics throughout this journey and when it's time to take the cable ride to the jump location, she hauls azz talking about she's too scared to ride over. So I am really on my own. I must've looked terrified because several staff ask me , are you ok? I say no, my heart is racing fast and they smile and say ok you're good that's normal, lmao. Right before it's my time to jump, a guy who just completed his gave me some pointers. He told me don't look down before I jump and enjoy the views as I'm going down which is what I did. I didn't wait a long time and after the staff explained what to do. I jumped!!!!!! I kept my eyes open the entire time and my heart returned back inside my body after the 2nd jerk down. We were told after the 3rd jerk to yank this cord hard to the left and it lifts you back up in a sitting position. I yanked and yanked but nothing happen. Soo of course, I had to be lifted back up like some rag doll enjoying the views upside down. I didn't care as long as my azz was back to safety. Overall the adrenaline, anxiety, excitement and fear was worth it all. I was soooooo proud of myself for completing the jump. There were about 10 of us in our group and only 1 guy refused to jump. My friend paid for my pictures since her azz had no personal pics of me with her hiding out back in the office area. I paid for the video and laughed hysterically at my experience. This was definitely one of the most whirlwind of emotions experiences I've ever endured. The crazy part about it is I would do it again, lmao. I still have my eye on that swing and another one called the catapult. To be continued....

Thrill seekers, this one is definitely for you. There's nothing quite like the rush of you voluntarily jumping off 134 meters up into the valley below. The staff everywhere are super nice, and for those who have jitters they do a great job talking you down. Our pod had a staff member with great hype music which helped pump everyone up! The only caveat is how long we spend waiting to actually jump for a minute. The 45 minute bus ride is understandable, but then we had to wait another hour in the pod before we were able to jump. For those not in Queenstown for long, it really sucks up your time.

AJ Hackett Bungy at Queenstown, New Zealand. freefall of 8.5 seconds, 134 meters

The most insane, thrilling, nerve wracking experience I ever had and it's at Queenstown New Zealand (Nevis Bungy) , Woot woot! I experienced 8.5 seconds of pure adrenaline rush as I freefall for 134m. Completely safe experience, the staff were very friendly and always assure you that's its super fun and completely safe. . The bungee motto is " Live more, fear less! YEAH! I become a completely different person after, I have this sense of achievement, overcome my fear of heights. I no longer observing life but experiencing life. Bucket list # 2 DONE! Checked!!!

A must do when in NZ!! An experience of a lifetime and would bungy off Kawarau every day if I could :) definitely recommend purchasing photos, they are great! The atmosphere as you're waiting to jump is phenomenal -- good music, great employees, and good vibes that relive the pressure of the jump. Highly recommend getting dunked in the water!!

I love this place so much!! It was my first ever time bungee jumping and it was just overall a really great experience. The staff and instructors were all super nice and good at their jobs. The place was beautiful.

Ever wanted to jump off something really high, but totally not in a suicidal'y kind of way? This is your place. For visitors to New Zealand, jumping off of crazy shit is practically mandatory & where else to have a crack, but the bungy jumping capital of the world. Located in the heart of Queenstown, AJ Hackett is the industry leader for anyone wanting to jump from white-knuckle, fear inducing heights. It's also worth mentioning that these guys invented it back in 1987, with the first recorded bungy jump from the Eiffel Tower. With over 27 years of experience & 1.5 million jumps under their belt, why would you bungy with anyone else? These guys are organised, safety focused & extremely reassuring; there's no bones about it, they know what they're doing & their enthusiasm for it is infectious. You bet you pretty pants it's f*@%ing scary & of course it's predictably spendy, but genuinely, it's one of the most incredible experiences you'll have to account for your time in New Zealand. I can't recommend it enough. Strap your big boy pants on, man up & jump dammit!

I never thought i'd bungee.... I've skydived before and love a good thrill but catapulting myself off a bridge was never in my top 5. I'm so glad i decided to take the plunge so to speak. So very happy that I got the opportunity to Bungy at the ORIGINAL Bungy jump!! The guys that harness you are really upbeat and I watched them calm people's nervous - getting them to talk about their life. The day I jumped was beautiful. Blue skies and we had people in canoes passing us by. I passed on any photos or videos because they were just too expensive - but they are professional made and finished super fast. Don't forget to grab your free t-shirt and jump certificate. If bungee is not for you- they have a zipline available. The center itself is huge - upbeat music blaring with a live feed on those that are jumping from the bridge. Quite a lot of merchandise for available too as well as a cafe for some caffeine! I highly recommend AJ Hackett - if you're scared - just DO IT!! you won't regret.

If you're gonna bungee jump, you might as well do it here. These guys have the process down, and will get you going on a trip. I'm pretty sure if it wasn't for the guys up at the top guiding us to the jump, I would have just froze, or at least tried my very best in stalling as long as I could. Four-eyes peeps like me may wanna wear contacts (unless you don't mind just going for it with the glasses off). Go with these experts, by the time you're pulled up, you'll want to do a second jump! Not sure if they allow go-cams, but if they do, definitely bring that along for that drop~ Of course, you'll also have a chance to pick up any of the pics and/or video documenting the entirety of your incredibly scary and exciting experience~

    Nevis Swing - Queenstown

Nevis Swing? More like the NERVOUS Swing. My partner and I are super afraid of heights/falling but we decided to take on the Nevis Swing. We booked it online two days before but I wish we booked it earlier - if you book any of the AJ Hackett activities 30 days before you get a discount! The anticipation of it sucked. Fear consumed us, but luckily, we got the last booking of the day - this meant that there weren't so many people left and we didn't have to sit there watching everyone fall (to their doom). It took about 40mins for the bus to get to the site so make sure you leave plenty of time. We were there for approximately 3 hours - but our group was quite small. Despite being afraid, we found the swing super super fun! Definitely recommend it. You're in capable hands and the crew working were so helpful and eased the process. They even asked if we wanted a countdown or surprise. This is probably way easier than a bungy because the crew press the button for the fall (not you). Be warned that if you purchase tickets you can't get a refund. We heard that there have been a lot of people who paid and completely backed out! A girl in our group paid for the combo to do the Nevis Bungy + Nevis Swing - but she was too scared to do the bungy and backed out. Such a shame :( We bought the photos and video to be downloaded online (it was expensive - but cheaper than getting it on USB).

What I found out, is that with age I have become more of a giant baby! You really don't realize how high up you are until you're strapped in! The Fox is higher than the swing, I was setup to run and jump (because suddenly the flip seemed to wild for me). I sadly wimped out and did the seated start. Had I bought one more go around, I would've jumped. It was a freaking BLAST though! There is nothing like it! Such an adrenaline rush! Is signed my husband up without asking him and he loved it! The Canyon Swing is another beast. What was I thinking!? I knew I would regret it if I didn't do it, but when it was my turn and I was a solo swinger (unlike the others), everything changed so suddenly. I couldn't even commit to the handstand. Luckily, I was told that taking 9 minutes to jump wasn't the worst, but it also wasn't brag-worthy. Hey! I did it, and wasn't pushed. That's brag-worthy! Haha! It reminded me of bungee jumping all over again- awful! On the fall I just remember tensing up, ad holding my breath preparing for the splat. The human body isn't supposed to enjoy this! Once the slack caught me, I could breathe and realized how exhilarating (in a bad way hah) it was. Not sure if I would do it again...well maybe with a friend. Utterly terrifying and exciting at the same time. I immediately had a large beer afterwards to calm my nerves and adrenaline. Only thing I don't like is that they don't have video of the Fox. I wore my GoPro but it's been having issues and of course didn't record it. I totally would've paid for a video of that like I did my swing. I do like how they had great places for observers to watch so they could see (and hear) you. My husband enjoyed making fun of my stiff jump. One tip- once you are at the bottom of the swing- don't forget to take in the stunning beauty of the Shotover River and Canyon. So peaceful, too (after all of that screaming).

There were a few times when customers stopped completely on the track or rear-ended other customers, which was really concerning. My mother-in-law got rear ended pretty hard at the finish by a reckless customer, which was really scary. There's only 2 tracks currently open and you can get some air on the dart track. They're doing a lot of construction on the tracks, so hopefully they add more tracks soon. If I were to do the luge again, I'd do the Rotorua location since the tracks are longer and more scenic and seems safer.
