First off before you even get off the ground Gary has some really creative photography skills and includes photos of video of your flight on his Facebook page. The take off and flight was a breeze, which is good because breeze is the only thing keeping you up there. You are towed up in the air until you reach about 1500ft then a quick swoop down to ease the tension off the rope and you are free as a bird. We took the offer to extend our flight another 10 minutes and to about 2500ft and that was really worth it. You get to see just about the entire Lake Pleasant, Anthem, Desert Hills & Ben Avery from the air. A few times around The marina where Dillions is located and more lake. Gary welcomes you to talk about gliding, the instruments and just about anything you want, he is a great wealth of knowledge and an expert pilot. Want to loop in a glider, sure he can do that!!! Flyby just like I. Top gun! That too! I would say the loop and flyby was well worth the adventure on their own. Take your GoPro (no stick) but plenty of room to use a helmet/head mount or just hold it. If you are small enough the back seat fits too, it's a squeeze though. All in all this makes a great adventure and a really cool gift!

Boggs is an accident waiting to happen. Port staff requested that the committee discuss a proposed concession agreement for Northwest Sky Sports, although the final decision rests with the Port's executive director. In the past, Northwest Sky Sports operated its glider rides, scenic flights and instruction from Hangar 1, now under lease by Insitu. To operate a commercial activity on Port property, a business must have a concession agreement with the Port. Since there are no other concession agreements at Ken Jernstedt Airfield, Port staff felt it was appropriate to consult with the Airport Advisory Committee. Safety was the primary concern. Michael McElwee noted the Port had received some complaints regarding pilot Gary Boggs, especially during the September 2007 Fly-In. Young noted he has access to video documenting low flyovers that were beneath the Federal Aviation Administration's regulations. Yannotti expressed concern about possible repeated safety issues regarding Boggs and objected to the concession permit. Harris noted that he has witnessed the glider approaching the airport that were flying too fast and too steep, noting it was some of the most dangerous flying he had ever seen. Boggs countered that he was not flying at low altitudes and felt he was flying safely. All sides of the issue were allowed to offer input, which McElwee will assess as he considers a concession agreement for Northwest Sky Sports. McElwee plans to make a decision prior to Blossom Festival Weekend (April 19-20), when Boggs has some scenic flights scheduled.

Kelly is understanding of my hectic schedule and creating/changing flights at a moments notice to ensure I can still fly. We informed him this was for our 8 year old grandson, who happens to be very bright. He acknowledged and we were escorted to the sim room, which was very disappointing. It was a hotel room loosely which was converted into a simulated cock pit. It was not realistic, more like an arcade type game. The instruction and interaction was minimal. My grandson was given 3 tips on how to fly the plane. Very little conversation or interaction between the Instructor and my grandson took place. Very disappointed with the entire experience. My husband ran an ATC sim room at Sky Harbor Airport and is very well versed in flight simulators. This missed the mark, don't waste your money.

It started out bad as my reservation was cancelled due to weather and no one called. They said they did but i never got it. Anyways, I wasted a trip there only to find that out. Strike one. Next week we tried again. Weather was perfect. Our instructor, Steve, was very friendly and patient. We proceeded to the simulator. The deal was for one person, but they let my wife come in and watch and then come along on the flight as a passenger so it really becomes a deal for 2 which was cool. The trainer explained a lot before i started the simulator. He was quite thorough. I was nervous just on this thing, but I flew that and did fairly well. Then we moved out onto the flight line. He went through the pre-flight inspection on our Cessna trainer with me. Boy, there is like a hundred things to check before you fly. But I'm glad because it's all about safety. He fired up the engine and taxied over to the runway. As we were waiting for clearance from Clarence he asked if i want to take off? I nearly crapped my pants. They usually don't let you do things like this but i guess i exuded such confidence. (LOL). We ended up having to hurry out of the way of more traffic so he took control to get us going. Then he had me take the wheel and pull up when we got to speed. It was awesome! I was flying! He let me fly the whole way as we climbed, banked around and headed to Lake Pleasant and back doing different maneuvers and teaching me about navigation. As I descended into the airport he asked me if I wanted to land. Again I nearly soiled my Fruit of the Looms. I've had trouble with the rudder pedals before and declined knowing I could send us into the ditch by wildly swerving left and right. But I got us pretty close to the ground before he took over. I've done this one other time at another facility and they didn't give me this much control and time at "the stick" or training. If you are looking for something different and novel to do, I highly recommend this. I was on an adrenaline high all day!

I met with Sawyer Flight Academy several times to work on a plan to accomplish a multi-engine/…read morecommercial add on. I was impressed with the professionalism and how structured the process was. I ended up working with them to get the rating done. Jonathan, the head of the flight school, was the CFI I'd be working with. He was able to teach to my learning style and we worked really well together. We met early and stayed late to get me ready for the check-ride. Coming from northern California, I booked out a week to accomplish the task. Unfortunately, the DA-42 Twin Star broke. A broken fuel injector in one of the engines made it impossible to train in the limited time frame. I had to leave and come back. On my second trip back, the night before the check-ride, I got news of a friends passing in an aviation incident. Thanks to Jonathan's prep, the following day, I was able to pass the oral portion of the check-ride with flying colors and discontinued on the flying portion. I re-booked for a return visit. Upon coming out, the aircraft had another issue during one of our flights. Sawyer's in house mechanics both times went above and beyond to get the aircraft back in service but the parts needed to be special ordered from Europe. Being in aviation and an aircraft owner, things like this just happen no matter how well an aircraft is maintained. Throughout this process, I was able to witness a side of aviation that most don't get to see. All of Sawyer's team working to get me back up in the air. Their maintenance team rocks and worked their butt off searching their global network for the correct parts and to try and overnight them. Even though I wasn't able to finish my multi-engine commercial add on at Sawyer Flight Academy, they did take care of me. Jonathan built a foundation for me to finish a few months later back in northern California and I earned my ratings. I wouldn't hesitate recommending Sawyer Flight academy because not only did they treat me well, the training I received was top notch.

I was recently visiting Arizona with my family and ended up with a flat tire on our airplane…read more We were desperate and looking for help, not to mention, it was Sunday at a desolate airport. To our surprise, GGR Aviation called us back, ended up finding a mechanic that flew out to fix our flat tire and got us back in the air and on our way home!! I think actions like this say a lot about how a company that really cares would treat their customers. It was a longshot calling them and they did it just to help us on our way. we were treated like good friends or family. Thank you so much GGR!!

I wasn't sure what to expect but the instructor Dominick Grossi was fantastic! Dominick was extremely knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. This made for an enjoyable learning experience. Dominick had a way of making you feel comfortable to stop and ask questions at any time during the class. If you still did not quite understand he would draw you a picture and explain in detail in till you got it. I would of given 5 stars but some of the powerpoint and course study still needs some minor adjustments to make it perfect. I would recommend this course to anyone thinking of becoming a Home Inspector.
