Be waned though, they are old school, they only accept cash or check, they have an old school register and don't accept credit cards. I have bought some really nice black powder revolvers from them before, when I was becoming legal age to buy a gun several years ago, they taught me everything I needed to know about black powder stuff and gave me the supplies I needed. I'm itching to go back some time soon.

But what good is a Great Lake if you don't have great guides and expert fishing tackle locations to help the rest of us who love the sport but lack the knowledge? Or maybe the good bass fishing folks needs a reliable place to get top notch tackle? We now have a place in Hixson that has what all those looking to catch fish need to succeed. Talking Tackle. Conveniently located just outside Chester Frost Park, the owners of this new place are some of the best in both customer service and fishing knowledge. They have a small lodge with indoor parking for your boat. Yes, really. They have a great inventory of soft baits, live bait, and anything else you need. And they will share real hotspot locations with you, tell you what is biting and on what. They understand that if you aren't successful at catching fish then they aren't doing their job to their satisfaction either. You are missing out if you don't stop in. Promise.

An ultralight plane tows the glider up to altitude (about 5 minutes) then releases you to glide for about 10-12 min (or longer depending on the altitude). Dalton was a great instructor/guide whose love of flying was infectious. He showed me how to pilot the glider and let me take the controls for several minutes. The view from up there is amazing! I worried I'd get motion sick or have issues with the height seeing as there's literally nothing under you. But nope! One minute into the flight and all of that faded away. I would definitely do this again if I visit Chattanooga again. P.S. Be sure to read all of the website and any emails they send you. There's notes about what to wear, how early to arrive (much earlier than your flight time), where to go (one location to sign in and another for the flight; and you drive yourself), plus a no refund policy for poor weather. Also be aware you have to purchase the photo/video package before going up, since they don't attach or use the camera unless you've asked for it (it can't be an afterthought). If you buy it, they download them onto your phone as soon as you've landed; no waiting for them to be posted online days later. Loved that! P.S. If you're lucky, Gypsy (the cutest little dog) will be there to keep you company while you wait for your turn to fly. She was so adorable. If/when her owner takes her up (he mentioned she now has a harness but hasn't gone up just yet), I hope those pics go on your website.

I stayed in a cabin and was greeted on my first day by a couple named Bob and Susan who asked if my buddy and I were hungry and wanted to eat with them. I offered to pay and Bob said sure, with friendship only. It felt like the entire park was there some nights sharing flying tips and stories and just having a great time in general. I am coming back to get my solo aerotow and mountain sign offs and know I will be greeted by wonderful people and very saftey focused instructors and staff. I have always loved flying but this place is off the charts. I am already booking my trip back for the end of June and can hardly wait. Thank you all for making it such an enjoyable experience and thank you Kelvin for bringing me back to the sky again!
