Airstar came out and the technician said that 1. the equipment was from 2009 and no longer under warranty. 2. The evaporator motor/module computer and transformer/circuit board blown. 3. He said on Tuesday they would call with an estimate for replacing or repairing (holiday weekend). 4. In his opinion, it was very old and should be replaced. He "felt bad" leaving the dog with no air conditioning. On Tuesday, the Airstar office called to say that it would be $2,900 to repair and $3,950 to replace. They could only come out that day to do the work or it wouldn't be until next week. A couple of my neighbors recommended a different company. I called them on Tuesday to get an estimate to repair or replace, explaining what the Airstar technician had told me. Thankfully they were able to fit me in that same day. The technician from that company said, 1. The equipment panel states it's from 2019, not 2009 (doesn't know why the other guy said 2009). 2. It is still under warranty until 2029 and we will only be charged for labor. 3. The Airstar technician wired it incorrectly and then didn't check it properly (on Saturday). 4. All it needed was the transformer replaced (which he did). Parts covered by warranty. 5. The condensation pump was installed in an unprofessional manner and needs a tray under it. 6. The equipment wasn't sealed either, so he sealed it. 7. Air conditioning now working and the house began to cool off. I have major concerns about the fact that I was told the system was old and out of warranty, which it was not - they put in the equipment. It was clearly a quick fix and not the complete system breakdown I was led to believe. There was no need for us to be without air conditioning for 3 days. When the office gave me the estimates, I felt as if I was being pressured to have them come and either repair or replace the system because it could only be that ONE day. In my opinion, either the technician was inept or we were being deliberately misled. Either scenario is very bad. They have lost our business for sure. I have only given 1 star because that was necessary in order to leave the review. If I could mark this as -5 stars, I would of.

It cost me $1,400 to repair the leaks. They finally agreed to pay $360 seven weeks ago. I have not seen a penny. I am very angry. If you like your ceiling, do NOT hire them! Oh, and I still have 3 years ($300) left on my service contract. Needless to say I will never let them in my house again. So I'm out $1,700. So here is the update: one day after I posted my reviews, Jeff, one of the owners, called and said they are writing the check. He asked once I receive the check would I do an update. My husband searched and called a company he found online. They charged twice as much to come to evaluate our air conditioner. They said we needed a new fan and motor which, with labor, would altogether cost 2,000.- but they said we should really consider getting a new one for approximately 7k because we'd get free financing for five years and a ten year warranty. My husband insisted we did not need a new one but I did not want to pay 2k to fix it and have no warranty. They told us these were our only two options. After much debate and getting opinions from family who all wanted a new one, a neighbor told us about Reynold's. They charged half the price as the first company and I told them I need someone to come out and prove to my husband that we really do need either a new air conditioning unit or truly explain to him what is wrong with ours because he doesn't believe the first company even tested the motor. They understood and made arrangements to come when my husband could be here. Low and behold they literally just lifted it up, secured it with industrial zip ties and it totally worked. The motor was fine and the fan was fine. They said they could not tell how long it would last but literally that is all they did! So you'd better believe when this thing finally croaks I'm buying my next air conditioner, and every one after that, from Reynold's and I am telling everyone I know (even at the risk that they'll be too busy to come service us)!
