There was no understanding, empathy or genuinity. Just F off. But in a very polished manner. I was almost done with my training at another school. I had already soloed and all I needed was my cross country solo and then the checkride. I was going to go back to the other school which is near my family in California, but I was in NJ and did not seem like a big deal so I asked my instructor and he said try and do the cross country there and come back. Or if they can take you across the finish line, finish it out there. His words, were you don't need much more training. This place told me initially that they can do just what I had asked but after 3 lessons, they told me I would need additional time. After I asked the instructor, he said if I came 3 times a week, it might be one month --- to fly in the pattern at the airport. If it was not my time, effort and money this would be laughable. They also inisted I do my IFR there. Which I declined as I want to get a Cirrus and wished to do my IFR and transition at a Cirrus facility. I asked the instructor I would like to speak with the owner and I wanted a definitive structured plan to get from point A to point B. Not a nebulous come whenever you are free, get in the air, do some turns and then do it again in a few weeks when you have forgotten everything. So Alexy the owner called me. I explained my entire situation and what I was lookking for. Defintiive, structured training to finish my PPL requirements. After explaining everything, he in an extrememly polished with massive sleazy undertones, suggested I go to another school. A Cirrus school since thats what I want to buy. And its easier to fly, right... Since they could not provide what I am looking for and he did not want me to be "milked". I called him out and said, you are a true businessman. I understand translated in business lingo, you are telling me get lost. So this school for part 61, is for milking. The owner has clearly done this kicking people out before, who dare to question their unscrupulous "milking" practices. And he has his farewell speech down to an art. Mona Lisa style. Masterpiece. I was genuinely impressed with his articulate, caring and compassionate fakery. I can not attest to the CFI's here. Because the poor things need their job and will do whatever he says. But yes, the core here is milk. He is the dairy farmer, so he controls the milking. So if you want to get milked come here. Or find a place that can give you a definitive plan with structured learning and most importantly a goal and a realistic expectation of that goal from day one. An example of milking: During a ground lesson, I used this Sim for 15 minutes at the end of 2 hours of talking with my CFI. Literally one landing. But they charged me the full 2 hours of Sim. I did not say anything or dispute it. I was like they are a sdchool, I am not a young student. Let them have it. This is just one example of their nefarious milking schemes. And I do not take writing this review lightly. I write this with a very heavy heart. I have been to 2 schools before this one. And though they were not perfect, they absoloutely did not warrant having to post such a warning to others as this place necessitated. read more

Run by Elena and Alexey, you get the family run flight school feel plus a large fleet of 9 airplanes (172s, P28R, C182T G1000, PA44) and 11 instructors to meet your flight training needs. Rental is way easier here than other schools who won't let you rent unless you've graduated their program. I looked all over NJ and this place has the best bang for your buck. An excellent flight school! When I first moved to NJ I was looking for a decent place for my rental needs. I was fortunate to find Air Fleet right there at Essex County Airport! First and foremost, Air Fleet keeps a very well maintained and meticulous fleet of aircraft. They have their own maintenance facility that keeps them in a tip-top shape. These guys take safety very seriously and I've always felt safe flying their airplanes. I've been mostly flying the G1000 equipped C172 (which also comes with the sweet GFC700). This particular aircraft is a thing of beauty, in and out. I've also received dual instruction from their instructors- flight reviews, foreign instrument rating conversion and more. Every one of them is very professional. Safety is a top concern for them and I really like the fact that they stress it and make sure that their pilots and students fly safely. The owners and staff are super friendly, always accommodating and really care about your needs and concerns. It feels like a small family, everyone knows you and cares about you :) Most importantly - the owners really care. They really care about you, their airplanes, their facility and their business. That's what makes the difference in this industry in my opinion. The school itself is nice and clean, well equipped with multiple computer station for ground school and also a flight training device (simulator). Essex County Airport is a perfect spot for all your training and rental needs. It's not large, there are no long taxis and virtually no waiting for departures. Nevertheless, the traffic pattern is busy with GA aircraft of all types, which helps you gain valuable experience and confidence in pattern operations. I spent some time researching NY area aviation schools 2 years ago and find Air Fleer Training most interesting for my needs. They have a clean modern office, polite and responsible staff, ground school with a plenty of computers / desks. The school is located in a towered airport within a D airspace which is a big plus too. I recommend this school to everyone who is serious about aviation. read more

I bought a living social deal and scheduled an appointment about 3 weeks in advance. The pilot cancels the appointment the day before because he was sick. I called a few weeks later because I was busy with life and they were booked. They said to call back and maybe we can honor your deal otherwise it will expire. The merchant blamed me for not calling back earlier to reschedule. If you are running a business what happened to customer service. Other living social deals I purchase where the merchant caused the delay honored the voucher past the expiration date. After the cancelled appointment and lack of customer service experience I am hesitant in using their service. So this is something to consider if you choose to use this merchant. read more
