Our heat pump system was 22 years old. Looked at various reviews of different heating/AC companies…read moreand Blue Ridge Heating consistently had the best reviews. Communication was easy with people at their firm. The technicians communicated with us and were not in a hurry when discussing our questions. We had been looking for a company and one of our neighbors uses Blue Ridge. Spoke with the technician who was servicing our neighbor. He gave me a card and I called the firm several days later after looking at on-line reviews. Technician came out and suggested we consider new equipment due to its age, and some very obvious problems. He actually made suggestions on not spending more money. Scheduled the following week to replace the equipment. Two technicians arrived to install new equipment. They were very responsive to questions and made suggestions on saving some money. The condensate pump had tripped the night before and left a small trail of water on the floor. The breaker had tripped and the pump was not operating. Testing the pump we discovered it was barely, if at all, working. We at this point were glad they were at our place. All of the work looks like showroom quality. The technicians obviously were conscientious about their work and took pride in their workmanship. They cleaned the work areas. We had, overall, a good experience. We certainly recommend Blue Ridge, and suggest looking at the amount of very positive reviews.

Tell me you don't want to do a job without telling me you don't want to do a job…read more.. We reached out to BLUE RIDGE HEATING & AIR, INC. to install a mini-split system for our massive--and by massive, I mean 125 square feet--cabin. That's right, basically a glorified walk-in closet with dreams. We requested a simple 110/120v unit, nothing fancy, just something to keep us from melting in the summer or freezing into popsicles in the winter. You know, the basics. The quote? $5,212. FIVE. THOUSAND. TWO HUNDRED. TWELVE. DOLLARS. I wasn't asking for the gold-plated, whisper-quiet, sings-you-to-sleep-at-night model... just something that plugs in and blows air. So yeah. Message received. You don't want the job. And that's okay. But hey, future buyers--consider this your "tiny home, big invoice" PSA.

While I appreciate this company for making it out to my rental in a timely manner and addressing a…read moreclogged toilet, there are just some things that don't sit right with me and I think people need to be aware of. #1- they were called for a CLOGGED TOILET. I (the landlord) was not able to be present during the repair. Instead of just addressing the issue at hand, they walked around my entire house to include the basement and pointed out to her several things. ("Water pipes needed to be completely replaced, along with all the sewer lines", etc). I've had repairs done on the sewer lines last year and had a clean out installed by another company. This is totally noticeable because it looks brand new. The sewer line is fine. #2- i believe this was a fear-mongering tactic used to try to get more work and money out of her. Taking advantage of her not understanding these things. Again, they were called for a clogged toilet. Not a "broken water line", not a "backed up sewer", none of that. #3- the fill valve in the toilet needs to be "repaired". They quoted me $400 to repair a fill valve, flapper and supply line. This is absolutely OUTRAGEOUS!! A total rebuild kit costs $30 at Lowe's. They told her that she would need to replace the entire water tank as well. *** Can I just mention that a brand new toilet costs $100 at Lowe's??*** This is really sad and honestly criminal. I hope to god that you don't try this on anyone who doesn't know any better. I've been around this type of work my entire life and never have I EVER seen this kind of pricing. Absolutely not happening. Reevaluate your prices and be honest about what you're doing. Thanks for responding and unclogging the toilet quick, though. I do appreciate that.

After having some seriously negative experiences with home repairs in Christiansburg, we were…read moredelighted and impressed with Air Tech's professionalism and curtesy! They installed a whole house HVAC unit from scratch in our 150 year old house. The work was done quickly and the workers were polite, respectful of our home, as quiet as they could be, and nice to our dog. We really appreciated that they weren't yelling across the house, there was no cursing (which in my experience is pretty common). We also really appreciated that they were careful not to damage our belongings, despite my house being in utter disarray at the time, and they even vacuumed up the dust from the drywall when they cut the necessary holes in the ceiling. When we had a small problem, the owner was quick to respond and fix it himself. I can't say enough good things about our experience with this company! We are hoping that this system will hold up well and all of the installation was done properly, but so far so good.

Air Tech installed a Mitsubishsi heating system for me four years ago. Since that time I have had…read moretwo major repairs to a wall unit they installed by an Air Tech technician who had no idea what he was doing. Not too long after the work was done the guest room flooded. When I first called to tell them about the leak they told me it was simply condensation, I didn't understand how the unit worked-- and they refused to come out. Air Tech ultimately had to replace the wall and the new wood floor, I replaced the bedding that was ruined. Once they knew there was a problem Air Tech would not answer the phone when I called so I got the general contractor involved and he got Air Tech to take responsibility for the faulty installation and repairs. In the last three months we had another failure with the unit leaking oil down the wall. $500 later it is fixed (by another company) and we again have to entirely repaint the wall. The Mitsubishi units are very reliable. In both cases it was confirmed as an installation failure. Air Tech was trying to grow at the time and the owner had hired incompetent technicians, one could not follow directions for assembling the logs on a gas log set. Air Tech has since changed its staffing but the owner/main repair person is the same. He's the guy who would not answer my phone calls and would not service the units until absolutely forced to do so, he just wanted us to go away as a bad chapter in his business history--sadly we still had the problems his business had created.
