You lift off and you land...you are aces in my book. Air Canada is pretty no frills... as most carriers are these days. Air Canada has an alliance with United which explains a lot. Prices were pretty reasonable. Plane was clean and pretty new.....screen in seat or computer streaming of entertainment.....good selection of movies and shows. read more

The flight was fine. The stewards and stewardesses did their best. The ground staff was disappointing. At the check-in machine a visibly frustrated attendant insisted on helping me. He asked what citizenship. On my saying US, he grabbed my passport and scanned it. Although my handbag fit into the measuring thing he said he will not allow me to take it as handbag. He checked it in and made me pay $48. I later noticed many people carrying a similar size and even bigger bag as handbag. He was rude and seemed very angry. My husband said it's better to be quiet and pay rather than have an angry staff call security. When we were done he even commented a derogatory remark as to traveling by United compared to Air Canada. I think it was uncalled for. I'm giving three stars only in the hope that this was an isolated unfortunate incident. read more

I was traveling air Canada with my 10 yr old daughter. I booked my flight months ago. As we were boarding the flight we were told our business class tickets were changed to regular cabin so another passenger who was "super elite" could have our seats. I have been traveling for the past 30 hours and my flights are getting delayed every single time. I flew out of Marrakech into Frankfurt where everything was good because we weren't flying with Air Canada. when we flew 8 hours to Montreal our flight back home to Philadelphia was redirected even though we still could of made our flight. (We were somehow late) we then flew to Toronto where i'm sitting right now and my flight has been delayed for a couple hours again. Flew out of Pearson on Air Canada's 1.8 year old Boeing 737 MAX 800 in their Business class and it was a rather lackluster experience. Despite being a relatively new jet, the seat cushions were already pretty worn out. The width and pitch of the Business class seat was almost identical to the Premium Economy seat on the Dreamliner. In fact, the menu was almost identical too! Check-in online was a breeze and managed to get a boarding pass via the app which included priority security. The Maple Leaf lounge post security was lackluster, it felt worn out. The food and beverage options were limited compared to the SilverKris lounge at Changi. Food options were limited to vegetarian pasta, Korean chicken, sliders, cookies and some other sweets. There was a mini salad bar too. There was a shower room, business center as well as a quiet area. They had complimentary beer, wine, and soft drinks too. Coffee was limited to drip coffee... The boarding process was choatic at best. Passengers lined up in the priority lane before their group was called... Once on board, a hot towel service may have been the highlight of the experience. A beverage service began shortly thereafter which included some warm nuts and cashews. Despite being a new plane, WiFi wasn't available on the 737 MAX...bummer. The meal service was a huge miss. Opted for the vegetarian gnocchi meal and the meal came with a side of greens along with some vinaigrette. The greens seemed a touch withered at the edges... The bun was on the drier side, although still edible. The gnocchi was extremely lackluster and the sauce felt like it came from a can. The cheesecake was extremely sweet... Halfway through the flight, the cabin attendant came by offering some snacks along with drinks. read more

Unless unavailable or over-priced I get good seats when flying internationally. There's no way in hell I would live in a straight jacket chair on a 10+ international trip. Asia is over 16 hours. It's not worth to fly internationally and you didn't sleep well, ya claustro-cramped up, and it takes you 2 days to recover and enjoy your journey. This is a review of Air Canada's business seats and service from LAX to Scandinavia: CPH. I'm a United airlines loyalist so United's Polaris is the only North American business service I know until I discovered code share flights. Air Canada is a new fave. I booked a United flight, picked an Air Canada code share flight , so I got the United miles and points. Done. My thoughts? Excellent experience with Air Canada flight in: 1. Maple Leaf Lounge (vs United Club Lounge). United's Club Lounge is large and in charge. It fails in many ways in that there are so many members and business passengers coming through, it is cramped and food has never been good. The Maple Leaf lounges are smaller not as modern but much better food and some options packed to go for visitors with tight connections. 2. AC Signature Suite. United Polaris is visually stunning over the AC product and I Love it. I could meditate in a United Polaris lounge because the space is super zen and calm. Both lounges require a long haul international business ticket for entry. Both lounges have showers, buffet and full service restaurants. AC's Signature Suite has far and above superior food, superior wines over United Polaris's offerings. Even bread was warmed nicely on both AC flights I took to Denmark. 3. Seats. Both airlines have similar lie flat seats. I found the massage lie flat seat for AC's overnight flight so comfortable that I slept a good 6 hours on this 8 hour flight. 4. Service : Hands down I found Air Canada's business flight crew much warmer, attentive and caring-- I was asked if wanted to be woken for the breakfast service. Not you snooze you lose United. The AC business cabin is much cleaner and felt like I was flying on a top-tier Asian airline! Will be back Air Canada on another code share flight. Looking forward to my trip home from CPH. 3 of my last 5 flights resulted in lost baggage, and at least a full day until reunited. Today has a flight delayed, then delayed again, then cancelled and rescheduled for 6 hours later (weather related, not their fault!)... then the connector was delayed by over 5 hours due to too many planes and not enough gates, four gate changes, then it took an hour to load all the bags, then the tug moving the plane back from the gate broke an axle... now we're told it'll be about a half hour before a tow truck can get it out of the way so another can move the plane... Helpful hint - do Sign up for text & email alerts. Our Air Canada flight was delayed to Toronto from the states on the way there and on the way home from Toronto Pearson Intl airport. Seeing a big trend of delays for every flight that was on the board for arrivals and departures. Air Canada appears to be extremely short staff and disorganized. That and airport and other company agents like baggage workers appears to be a mess. Don't be surprised if you are delayed. 8 delays on the last trip (6.27.22) and emails and texts came after announced at the gate. We had to wait for pilots and flight attendants to arrive from other flight that were delayed as well. I know they are blaming COVID impact but they can do better. I really felt for the gate agents as people were so rude. I made sure to thank them upon boarding. I am only giving two stars for the texts and emails. That and the fact that we made it home same day just in the late evening instead of the afternoon. The flight attendant did apologize for the "extreme delay" once we had landed. Should really be one star but some effort was made. I will probably drive to Toronto instead of flying as it would have been faster. read more

We didn't have any delays with our flight or lost of luggage issue. Now we did have to add on an additional bag for check in because Air Canada have you put your suitcase in this pre measured frame. Set-up like the overhead of the plane which is a tight fit. So any very small suitcases would probably fit. If not that's an additional $30 We didn't deal with any rudeness from any of the employees there. So I would give them a 3.5 ratings. Just know about the luggage rates. Not bad but not the worst. They are between Spirit and American airlines. Boarding is 5 Groups I was booked with a fellow traveler she boarded in 3 , I was 5 and we was on the same itinerary. Overall the flight was ok . Service was fine nothing to write home about . You were served a meal I think it was chicken didn't partake . Overall watch them unload luggage off a incoming flight. And a passenger suitcase slid off the truck and sat cracked and overlooked by several employees who rode by. About a hour later someone came to retrieve the lost cracked suitcase to return to customer after it didn't show up at baggage claim. read more

I fly on Air Canada more than any other carrier. I have been flying with Air Canada since I could afford to get a plane ticket in my undergraduate years. I haven't stopped since. I had one mishap when I was moved to Winnipeg from Toronto. I shipped a few items through Air Canada cargo, including my Sony stereo. When I picked it up in Winnipeg, part of my stereo was bashed in. I was disappointed. However, Air Canada worked with me to get Sony to fix my stereo and the former picked up the entire tab. I was pleased. I have far more positive experiences than what I have read here. For a year, I did manage to hit the bottom rung of the Altitude Prestige privilege. It meant that I could go into various Air Canada domestic lounges, and eat, drink, and lounge for free. I could also get upgraded to executive flights. I had the best experience flying from Denver to Toronto a few years ago. I went to board my plane and got upgraded to executive class. Staff were super friendly to find a spot for my rolling bag, and asked what I'd like to eat and drink. I felt like I was being spoiled to death. These days, an Air Canada flight has four passengers randomly selected to do extra security screening before you board. It means that you have more of your carry-on items scanned and swabbed, including your laptop. It does take more time to get through everything, but I didn't mind it. What I didn't realize is that once your extra security screening is complete, Air Canada tries to make up for this inconvenience. I was supposed to be seated in seat 24A on a flight to Minneapolis. I was handed a new boarding pass and got seat 3A. I got extra leg room, which I appreciated. You get every perk in executive class except for a full meal. I was happy with snacks and a Diet Coke with a lemon wedge in a fancy glass. It made my long day much better. Even in economy, which is where I typically am, I like the occasional nicety that I don't expect. Small things make me happy. On my last flight from Minneapolis to Toronto, a flight attendant offered me an entire can of Diet Coke. Normally, you get a cup. I was happy with my full can. I have been doing the YYZ-MSP flight segment monthly for the past five months. My flights going to MSP are on time, except for my most recent flight. It was late by five minutes, which wasn't horrible. My last two flights coming home were early by twenty minutes. I can't complain, especially with a strong headwind. I have never lost my baggage (knock on wood) on any Air Canada flight. I have flown internationally to Copenhagen, London, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, and Shanghai on Air Canada without a hitch. Staff have always been friendly towards me. If I need extra time to board a flight, they are more than accommodating. If I need a cup of water, they are happy to get me some. I'm an anomaly. On 7/14/2023 travel on AC 1093 flight from Toronto Pearson to San Diego, we were told by an Air Canada employee that we have to check in our carry on luggage although we never did on our to Toronto 5 days ago. We mentioned that but she said that they have stricter policy in Canada. We ended up paying $80 so as not to be delayed. While waiting for our flight at gate 70, I noticed that most have the same if not bigger carry ons as shown on the photos. Our trip started in Windsor. We were connecting in Toronto to then go to Edinburgh. When we arrived to Windsor they had delayed the flight by 30 mins, no big deal we can still make the next flight. As we were checking in the lady goes, oh it was just delayed another 1.5 hours. Okay now panic is setting in. We aren't going to make the flight from Toronto if we stay. We drove the 3-3.5 hours to Toronto and when we arrived were told we were too late even though we had been checked in and just needed to drop our backs off. The only option they gave was to take our essentials out of our checked and put in our carry on. We are going to Scotland for 10 days, we can't live on "essentials" for 10 days. It doesn't end there, we were told to go down to aisle 15 to phones and they will help arrange a new flight. When we got there the customer service said they could book us for a flight to Paris in an hour. We asked over and over if we had enough time and they said since we are in the airport we are okay. So we hurried to the counters and were told again we could not get on this plane either. And yet again they told us take your essentials. Despite calling themselves customer service representatives there is no such thing where Air Canada is concerned. They are great at kibitzing among themselves while ignoring the passengers and their needs. They can't get information correct if their lives depended on it. And if you enjoy being kept in the dark during a 4 hour plus flight delay, then this is your airline. My flight was delayed 5 times (4 hours). 3 delays in the airport and 2 delays while on board. When in the airport, no one at the Air Canada counter was able to assist. I was told no one has any information EXCEPT the bosses in the office who can't be reached. It appears like they couldn't fully sell the flight and so they brought in a smaller plane so they wouldn't lose as much money. This plane had zero amenities: no pillows, no blankets, no charging ports, no movie or screen. Flight attendant was coughing up a storm and NOT wearing a mask. Hoping I don't get COVID from him. Before takeoff, the cabin had a faint smell of exhaust. Consider using another airline. Reminded me of flying with Spirit Airlines. Well, my wife had a medical incident at Air Canada in Toronto. Canada, and these people were extremely helpful in getting the paramedics there and helping to take care of her. After that, they said they're going to rebook our flight hopefully will be able to leave in the morning for no extra charge. On top of that they gave me a voucher for free to me. Taxi ride from the airport to the hospital. I have to tell you I don't know what bad things have been said about Air Canada. All I can say is they have been fantastic. Always seem to have a good flight. Really never been delayed of late thankfully, and they get me there safe. How could I complain? Flying first helps in order to have a favorable experience. Bonus if you fly with a child since the meal, drinks, and nuts break up the monotony of sitting for hours. She feels like she's in a restaurant and it's become fun for her. Super kind flight attendants who go out of their way to help. All of whom are very cool and wonderful to my toddler when she also flies. Food could be more appetizing. It's consistent in the sense you know the quality of what you're going to get. And often the same menu (over and over!) I do wish dessert was a nice chocolate like on some United Airlines flights (Ghiradelli caramel and sea salt!) because the desserts on Air Canada flights are typically cakes that are far too sweet to eat. Oh, and make sure to use the washroom before boarding - the ones on the planes I've been on are way too small...and I'm not a big person so I haven't a clue how others use it!! And finally, over the phone, most reservations are great. I happily fly Air Canada. read more

I recently traveled on Air Canada from LAX to Montreal (YUL) and from Toronto Pearson (YYZ) back to LAX. Prices 3: Air Canada is the only game in town for a non-stop from SoCal to Eastern Canada, and they take full advantage of this monopoly. They offer slightly lower prices compared to same flights code-shared by the US carrier United. However, once you are on the hook, they nickel-and-dime you for seat selection, snacks (yes, they charge for nuts!), etc. etc. Service 0: The customer experience is zero from ticket purchase to landing. Crew are rude and bossy at worst and arbitrary and indifferent at best. Signage and instructions at ticketing and at the gate are either confusing or non-existent, and there are long lines for any and every interaction with agents. You have to stand in line and get to a counter to be told that you are in the wrong line. The employees act as if the customer has no value and no bearing on their well-being, forgetting that Air Canada is a for-profit corporation competing with other airlines for paying customers. Boarding process 0: They have this ingenious method of boarding window seats first, then middle seats, and then the aisle seats. What do you do if you are traveling with elderly or children over 6 who cannot handle their own luggage? (Families with children under 6 can pre-board.) Boarding process is chaotic and no attempt is made to regulate the flow of passengers based on boarding priority. Whoever pushes and shoves harder gets in first. Seat Selection 0: I had purchased my tickets 6+ months ahead of the flight and had paid handsomely for 4 Exit Row seats at a whopping $60 per seat. And by the way, all you get for $60 is a standard seat with extra legroom: Not a wider seat, no snacks, no meal, no drinks, no internet, no priority boarding, nothing! A few days before the flight I get an email that tells me without any explanation or apology that my seats have been moved (and no, the aircraft type or configuration had not changed). They did refund the $60 per seat but then again if I have chosen to pay for a service and they have accepted it, they should deliver. Reliability 0: My flights, both to and from Canada were 2 hours late. Then you land and sit on the tarmac because there is no gate and no gate personnel available, causing even further delays. Luggage arrived at Baggage claim 1+ hours after the flight landed. Their standard excuse: This one gets a -10: "We are short-staffed!" This is what employees will tell you. As I understood from some employees, Air Canada laid off a large portion of its workforce when COVID hit, and now they cannot get them to return. To add insult to injury, I received a "form-letter" email from their president stating that we should all expect to see the chaos of bad service, long delays, and canceled flights continue for the remainder of the travel season! You would think that such a large global organization would take swift measures to rectify the problem instead of telling their customers to "suck it up" :D Also, if they cannot deliver the services that they have committed to, which they should have known 6+ months ago when they sold me these tickets, they should not have made the commitment. Website and overall use of technology 1: - Their website and mobile app lose your Frequent Flier and KTIN, and they will not let you re-input them once they disappear. They ask that you call Air Canada (good luck getting to a person on the phone). Website and App are also unintuitive and hard to navigate (lack of common sense and instructions seems to be tantamount at Air Canada at every level :D). - For round trip travel, you have to input the same passenger info such as KTIN, country of residence, etc. for both inbound and outbound check-ins, as if they had changed while you were traveling :D - When your flight is delayed, some web/app info and the gate monitor still show the original boarding time. Only way to know when you are really boarding is when they announce it. - Their self-serve kiosks at the airport go down sporadically, forcing people to wait until they are back online and having to go through the lengthy process of reinputting all their data. The Bottom Line 0: Worst airline I have ever flown. Bureaucracy at its peak (or at its worst?). Incompetence and disinterest at every level. Lack of regard for customers. Counter-intuitive processes and systems. The list goes on :( read more

i arrived to my gate two hours early due to a mixup with the shuttle, but as i was sitting in the gate area charging my phone, a gate attendant walked up and said "you'll have to leave the area to make room for the next flight" i said " i'm on the next flight and he said "sure you are buddy, don't make me call security" it was at this point i reminded him that treating customers like this is the reason air canada was ranked the worst airline in the world, to which he replied "that's right buddy, we suck" since air canada is so openly hostile to its customers i will find another carrier to abuse me, if only slightly less. These days, flight delays are unavoidable, but when the delay is the fault of the airline and they refuse to help you in any way, that is when I get angry. Awful. Just awful. If i could give zero stars I would. Our flight from Dublin to Toronto was delayed 7 hours. 2 of those hours were spent sitting in the plane at the gate because they did not have enough meals for everyone. This delay caused us to miss our connection by about an hour. Not even the worst part. When we arrive at the airport, the Air Canada pilot tells us there will be gate agents outside to give us our new, re-booked boarding passes and hotel stay vouchers (as we arrived late and there weren't any additional flights leaving that night). There were about 40 people who missed their connections due to this delay. When we retrieve our re-booked tickets, our flight is not until Midnight the next day! Over 24 hours after we landed. And it's not direct, so it means two additional unexpected nights of travel. No hotel voucher included, only two $10 meal vouchers to be used at the airport. Most others getting rebooked had it just as bad. The gate agents and customer service agents were extremely unhelpful. We received so much conflicting information that I can't even relay exactly what was said, but none of it was apologetic or sincere. We spent an additional 3 hours at the airport after landing, trying to help our situation. We tried to get an earlier flight out, but they would not accommodate us in any way. They even told one gentleman next to us that he would have to pay additional monies to be added to a different flight since it was a better flight than his missed connection. Most airport hotels were full, but we found a hotel that had one room left. Doubtful we will be reimbursed for this stay. They sent our luggage to our rebooked flight, so we have no clean clothes or toiletries for the next 24 hours. At this point, we will be lucky to make it home within 48 hours of our original arrival time... I will never fly Air Canada again, and will encourage others to do the same. It's not about the delays, or the chaos, but about the lack of kindness and the unwillingness to rectify their mistakes. read more

My wife and I flew for our honeymoon with a bunch of connecting flights, not ideal but we paid for it through points. Every flight along the way was delayed. This was our first time flying AirCanada but we heard from most of the people on our flights that they've had bad experiences with AirCanada.. major delays, cancellations, they fly AirCanada because on a lot of routes they're the only option out there. A 20 hour trip including connections is now estimated to be over 30 hours. AirCanada probably won't be my first choice if I can help it. read more
