Last year my experience was 5 stars. This year it was horrible. The tech was condescending, rude and did not do a thorough job of the preseason check. My boiler is located in a different part of the building and he never set foot in my unit to see if any of the vents worked. Last year's preseason check was over an hour and this year's was about 30 minutes. This year's tech very much came across that since I wasn't going to buy a new boiler, he wasn't going to service my equipment properly. I called and spoke to someone who was appalled, but they wanted someone else to call me back. That person defended the actions of the tech to the highest and refused to listen to my concerns- so badly I hung up the call. I decided to give Air a call based on positive reviews from a local Facebook group and from a neighbor that has used them. My AC wasn't working and I called at 9:00 am and someone was there by 9:30. They charge a $186 diagnostic fee just to come out. The technician came, took the lid off the unit. I had a broken capacitor. He went to his truck, got a new capacitor, installed it, put the lid back on the unit. Left before 10:00 and it cost me $568. Seems like a lot to replace a capacitor. I had them replace my old oil fired furnace with a tankless high efficiency gas furnace. They were not the cheapest, but I thought I got the best value with a quality installation and a superior product. I now have had the unit for two years. It has cut my fuel cost by at least 30%. I like the fact that I have a tankless hot water heater and only heat hot water when I need it. They are now my serve provider and I am happy with their service. They always do their best to meet all my needs and never had any issues with them. I have a 10 year warranty on my unit (which I paid extra for) so I will not have to incur any major costs with my unit. So far, I have not had to exercise my warrantee. read more

Do not use Air Inc. of Branford, CT. We have had nothing but problems with them since they installed our furnace and central air conditioning units. We bought our units through Home Depot so didn't have a choice on installers. When we started using the furnace, we got an error code. We called and had our annual service done and the technician told us it was the filter. The code kept coming back and the service reps kept telling us to change the filter. When it got to the point we were changing it weekly, Air Inc. finally sent someone else out. The technician informed us that the gas manifold was not properly adjusted at the time of the original installation. He fixed it and we haven't gotten another error code since. Next we noticed our central air conditioning system wasn't cooling as well as it used to. We made repeated calls to Air Inc. and their customer service staff rudely dismissed our complaints as due to the hot weather. The problem worsened till we had no air conditioning. Then they sent someone who determined it was a slow leak in the system from installation. When it was repaired, there was a leak in the repair and there wasn't enough pipe to fix the new leak. So we had to have a perfectly good coil replaced. When they replaced the coil they failed to reinstall the condensate drain line. This caused water to pour into our home since our furnace is in the middle of our living space. When we called to have it repaired, we were again dismissed by customer service. They would only send someone out to fix it after we sent them pictures to prove we had a leak. Due to this leak, there was water in our ducting system, our wall was damaged and our carpet was wet for at least a week. Air Inc. sent a ServiceMaster representative out to survey the damage. He recommended a carpet cleaning and duct cleaning. Air Inc. refused to do the duct cleaning. A different ServiceMaster company came to do the carpet cleaning. After explaining what happened they told us the carpet padding needed to be replaced because it was wet more than 72 hours and the ducts should be cleaned and sanitized because of the standing water that had been in them. Both needed to be done as per industry standards to prevent mold growth. They sent their recommendations to the original ServiceMaster inspector. After several weeks of phone calls and e-mails, Air Inc. has refused to discuss these recommendations with us. We have only gotten unsolicited responses from the original ServiceMaster inspector. He is now trying to say our carpet wasn't wet for more than 72 hours so the padding doesn't need to be replaced. He didn't even come to our home until three weeks after we had contained the leak and the carpet had dried. We had told him at the time the carpet was wet for at least four days. He is also claiming that our ducts are dirty and a cleaning would be routine maintenance. He is totally ignoring the fact that there was standing water in them so they should be cleaned to prevent mold growth regardless of how dirty they are. The first recommendation of his is based on a fabrication and the second is just discounting the facts. Making these recommendations look like he works for Air Inc. and not ServiceMaster since he is making excuses so Air Inc. would not be liable for completing the mold remediation in our home. All of these problems were easily avoidable mistakes caused by their technicians during installation and subsequent repairs. Air Inc.'s technicians caused water to leak into our home and now doesn't want to remediate the damages caused by their own incompetence. A terrible company. I am a renter, and unfortunately my landlord chose this sorry outfit to install an AC system several years ago. Despite being very new, the system failed twice last summer. To be clear, it was twice because these dolts didn't properly diagnose the issue the first time. The service guarantee Air Inc proclaims on its website ("24 hour service guarantee!") is apparently meaningless, because both times they made us wait over a weekend to come out, including 6 DAYS the second time! One of the women dispatchers was a nightmare to deal with, appallingly rude. The second woman was more courteous, but wasn't any more helpful, as she didn't bother getting anyone out to us before 6 days. Save yourself a lot of aggravation - avoid this company. read more

Earlier this year my wife and I were tossing around the idea of replacing our 20 year old oil boiler. We wanted to switch to gas, but were told it wasn't available in our area. Tom Clement, a salesman for Air, Inc. came to my home and not only told me I could convert to natural gas, but also walked me through the Energize CT program. His quote came in below other's I've received (even from my current service provider), and it included running and capping extra gas lines for eventual appliance upgrades. The most frustrating part of the process was getting the gas company to come out in the later winter months. Obviously this was no fault of Air, Inc., and I was impressed when Tracey, another member of the company, used her contacts to facilitate the conversion. Once the conversion was complete, Tom had his installation guys there right away, and the process was smooth. We purchased a newly designed system, so there were a few glitches with it. Air, Inc. sent out their service techs right away, at no cost to me. My only complaint is that it did take a while to be contacted by the service tech one evening, but to be fair it was in the dead of winter and he had a number of calls to handle. Other than those two minor issues, it was a pleasure using Air, Inc. Tom Clement is a no hassle salesman, explained everything to us, never pressured us, and was a consummate professional. When there was a question or slight issue, I just had to call him and he made sure I was taken care of. I highly recommend Air, Inc., and especially Tom Clement. read more

On June 8, 2011 I scheduled a service call to my home with a technician from Air Inc., located at 171 Short Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405, which is located less than one mile from my house. While the initial call was for service of one air conditioning unit, the technician strongly suggested that I have, what they call, a "precision tune-up" performed on both air conditioning units in the house since no service was done on one of the units since installation four years earlier. I was led to believe that a "precision tune-up" involved a lengthy and exhaustive examination followed by some basic testing to each of the units to ensure optimum performance. In return for this service, I would be charged $239 for each unit. I reluctantly agreed. Well, as it turned out, a "precision tune-up" consisted of washing off the air filter to each unit with a hose from my garden!! I kid you not. The only testing done was the turning on the system to feel the air flowing from the duct work. No parts were replaced, no coolant was added to either system, nothing was repaired, and nothing was cleaned except the air filters. No tools were required except a Phillips head screwdriver. And apparently, one of the condenser units was never even examined even though it was actually in need of repair (see below).. The entire time required by the technician to perform a "precision tune up" on both units was between 60 to 90 minutes, of which a great majority of the time was spent by the technician talking on his cell phone in the driveway. Unfortunately I did sign the invoice presented by the technician which I have regretted ever since. Though I was not pleased with the bill, I do not believe the technician sets company policy service rates. However, I did immediately called the owner of AIR Inc. to complain about the bill and to see if something could be done to rectify the situation. Over the next four days I left three separate messages on the owner's voicemail system after being told by the receptionist that he was away from his desk. This was followed by a registered letter sent to Mr. Wayne Krasnow on June 14, 2011, along with a copy of a complaint letter I sent to VISA Billing Complaints department (copies enclosed). Ironically, when I finally did turn on the air conditioning for the season, one of the units was not working, forcing me to place another service call from Viglione Heating and Cooling in East Haven, CT. For obvious reasons I did not call Air Inc. After three phone calls and a registered letter, it was apparent I was not going to get any satisfaction from them. The Viglione technician discovered a loose wire in the condenser unit which he found immediately upon removing the cover. Obviously the technician from AIR Inc. never removed the cover and since the air handler was blowing air through the vent, he felt there was no reason to ever check the condenser. It is worth noting that the Viglione technician only charged 1/2 of their regular service rate because the problem was so basic (see notation on invoice). My whole experience with AIR Inc. has been a complete disaster. Basically I was charged $506.68 to have two air filters washed off with a hose. Another company had to be called to do a simple repair which should have been discovered had Air Inc. even attempted to do the job as described. And then, on top of all this, three phone calls and a registered letter to the owner are completely ignored. In my opinion, this is complete fraud. I do not use that term lightly. All too often people don't complain because of the embarrassment of being ripped off, of not having enough time, or just a general feeling of being powerless. I truly hope this prevents at least one other consumer from being ripped off in the future by Air Inc. read more

If there was a zero star option I would pick that. They were terrible. I wasted 2 hours with this company and got nothing in return. Very disrespectful! I had an estimator out to my house for an AC quote. I spent nearly 2 hours showing the house and answering his questions. I was told I would get a quote in a few days. The quote took almost a month and I had to call twice and email 3 times to get it. The quote was a joke - a scanned copy of some form with a few lines filled out in handwriting. There was no detail, no explanation and left me wondering how they got to the estimate. The worst part was the estimate which was 50% higher than the next HIGHEST quote. This is a 20-25k job and they came in at 37k. Other estimates were typed with lots of detail - theirs was a joke. I was very upset I wasted my time with this company. I can't understand why the quote was so late and so out of line. Makes me suspect they were trying to take advantage of me. I feel nervous I even let these guys in my home. read more

After 8 days I contacted him and ask about the quote. He called me and started asking my house, how many zones etc. Said his notes were somewhere in the car. The installation of the AC system was good but service since then has been bad. During the first 1-year service visit, the technician (Mike) folded a 20x25 filter into a 20x20 space by bending it. I questioned why, he said that was the only size he had on truck. I called the company and they found it hard to believe but sent me a replacement filter. I installed my own filters after that. Recently I had a moisture problem with filter, it was drenched. The technician (Tyler) did a diagnostic 12/19/17 for $211, saying it was a very unusual problem but left no paperwork or written diagnosis. He had to ask Mark what caused it. Mark D'Onofrio called me 12/29/17 to ask for size of return duct. I could not determine it. He was supposed to reschedule a visit and build a trap or something. Never heard back. I changed the filter myself and the problem has improved in the winter months. I think the wet filter is related to the summer season but I didn't find it out from them. I would like to get a refund of that diagnostic charge. read more

They all have had manners and have been very respectful of my husband and myself and of our home. Our annual service calls have been kept pretty much on time and if there were issues they were explained to us in laymen's terms. The service tech came out to my house and asked to use the bathroom. I let him and realized he took a dump in my bathroom and after being in there for over 20 mins I knocked on the door to see if he was alright! Let's just say I had to clean up behind him and he didn't wash his hands!!!!! Beware if you have any service techs coming out to your house tell them your bathroom is not open for public use! Then after the bathroom incident the company sent out another tech on a different day and he was busy texting on his phone when I went downstairs in my basement to check his work progress, surprise he didn't expect me to catch him!! We bought a new furnace from Air Inc. in 2011. The furnace, the night of the installation, failed. A manufacturer defect part. Air Inc. refused to replace entire furnace, and only the replaced part. Mind you the furnace was less than 2 hours installed. The repair was not completed until 2 days later. And Air Inc. attempted to charge us for the repair. Since then, several other parts have failed and were replaced under warranty but with us paying an extortionate rate for Air Inc.'s labor to replace the manufacturer's faulty part. I first decided to choose Air inc out of several companies because they not only gave me a quote on the spot , but they were very efficient in giving proper information on equipment and pricing as well the amount of time it will take to install and remove old equipment. Tom Clement the rep I personally dealt with was amazing . He answered all my questions and continued to check in to make sure I as the customer was satisfied. As for the three woman in the office Kelly, Tracy and Cheryl they were all very friendly and did their best to get dates that fit in with my schedule . very considerate of my time . I've used AIR Inc for several years. Most recently, I had scheduled them to do annual maintenance. It was difficult to do so, because of my constantly changing schedule. Unknowingly, my service agreement lapsed in the time I scheduled the appointment to the actual appointment date. Unfortunately, we had an issue with our unit during that gap. AIR Inc was quick to respond and sent Ryan M. He came out immediately and worked a temporary patch/fix for the problem and ordered a new part. Being my service agreement had lapsed AIR Inc could have charged me full price for the service. After speaking with their customer service rep and explaining the situation, they agreed to give me the service agreement discount. Ryan M came back out a few days later and fixed and serviced our unit. He was prompt and polite. What's not to like? We are new homeowners and we were having issues with getting our hot water to be consistent. We called Air Inc for there services. When they came they stated they would have to put on a tiger loop to keep the hot water consistent. They installed the part and left. Later that night when we got home from work our whole house smelt of oil. When we looked at the part it was leaking. We called them immediately and they stated that they could make an appointment with us to come out. Obviously with a baby in the house we weren't taking that answer and they wound up coming out that night to fix it. The leak stopped however we were still having issues. We were still having issues with hot water and decided to call again to get an estimate. This time we made an appointment and they never showed up. When I sent them an email about it the girl was very nasty and pretty much called me a liar and that my husband was mistaken about the day. Instead of trying to make it right she just argued with me about who was right. Needless to say we didn't use them. We did get another quote from a company who looked at our oil burner and they stated that the oil was running very rich which would explain the soot coming out of the stack and that the tiger loop was not properly calibrated. The smoke coming out of our stack was black. Not to mention our oil reserve was depleting faster than before they installed this piece. To make it clear we had the previous owners have the oil burner inspected and serviced prior to moving in and also a few months after we moved in we hired air inc to do an inspection. I would not recommend these guys to anyone. They take advantage of people who don't necessarily know the trade. read more
