I struck gold this weekend though! Gift shop was open and the plant sale was going! This little cottage feel gift shop is a gem to shop! Walking in the front door there is a fireplace to the left to greet you. I was pleasantly surprised to see a huge tree of life wall art piece- one that I have hanging in my dining room! Great focal piece. The front of the store is filled to the brim with glass art, jewelry, wall art and more! As you go through the hallways- more wall art! Dip into various rooms for pottery, glass and wood art. The back room to the right has more traditional State Park items- shits, hats, patches, magnets. The rest of the store is art! I love local art finds, they have plenty of local art! I left with a patch- if you don't know, I am a patch addict & a gorgeous tree of life pendant. I brought my two-year-old daughter in with me. She absolutely loves fashion and jewelry, so naturally she was interested in looking at and gently touching some of the jewelry. An employee expressed concern that she might break something. I immediately assured her that if my daughter broke anything, I would of course pay for it. She has never broken anything in a store, but I completely understand a small business being concerned about its merchandise and was happy to take responsibility for her. Apparently that wasn't enough. I was then told that my daughter could not touch anything. So we left. I understand asking a parent to intervene if a child is being destructive, mishandling merchandise, running wild, or actually causing a problem. That was not what was happening here. My daughter was simply interested in the things around her and exploring them as a two-year-old does, with me right beside her. Children learn how to behave in shops, restaurants, museums, churches, and other public spaces by actually being allowed to participate in society. We cannot simultaneously complain that children don't know how to behave in public while expecting parents to keep them away from anything they might be curious enough to touch. What bothered me most was that I was a paying customer. I was literally holding merchandise I intended to buy. Instead, I was made to feel that my two-year-old's presence and normal curiosity were incompatible with shopping there. Message received. We put the item back, walked out, and will spend our money somewhere that doesn't make families feel unwelcome.

They ordered in some colors that I was interested in, but they didn't tell me that if I didn't like them, that there would be a 10% restocking fee. When I pointed out that they hadn't warned me about this, they weren't very pleasant. They rescinded their offer of a discount because of the size of my order (almost $1,000), even though I did finally get the same pieces in a different color. Later, I ordered a casserole baker ($200). They never called to tell me that it had come in. When I finally went to the store and asked, they gave it to me, and then warned me that it couldn't be put in the oven until it had soaked in water for 20 minutes. Unfortunately, that wouldn't be much use to me, so I returned it. The worst part was their lack of communication. When I pointed out all the misunderstandings, they pretty much ignored my emails and ignored me, though I tried very hard to be polite and professional. I can't believe that any store owner would purposely ignore a customer who had provided that much business! I will not shop at this store again.

They have unique real alligator heads with real teeth as a weird qwerky gift. There are real live baby alligators in a fish tank to look at. Stacey was very kind. The bathrooms were clean.
