My 4 yr old daughter started last week and Julio and BJJ are all she talks about now. If you want strong, confident, respectful kids - sign them up today! If you want to be strong, flexible, and happy - sign yourself up today! Julio, his staff, and everyone I've met make this school a welcoming and safe place to learn BJJ. Each class offers quality instruction and fun exercises to improve your technique. Everyone is supported in doing their best, no matter where they are starting from. The instructors' passion for the sport and attention to students makes you excited to keep training. Come join us and experience the joy of being on the Vermont BJJ Revolution team!

Vermont BJJ is an amazing school that has completely changed my life! My wife and son and I have all joined; and have found every one here, from the instructors to the students, to be welcoming and inviting.  I leave every class loving life and feeling hungry for more. My time between classes is spent tuning my body and mind to prepare for my next class. I had my eye on this school for years after coming to Vermont, and now wish I had not hesitated for so long. If you are wondering if Jiu-Jitsu is for you... it is!  And there is no better place to learn than here, from a BJJ World Champion. Join the team.

The instructors at Water and Rock are excellent. Japheth, the owner, is another story. He is an…read moreextremely aggressive business person who uses stringent contracts to bind his customers (and employees) into unreasonable situations. Japheth has an excellent sales pitch but fails to deliver on his promises. He is not a medical professional or even a certified yoga instructor. He is not an expert in martial arts or any of the other services he claims to provide. He is a cutthroat business person, more concerned with making a quick buck than helping his clients. Worse still, his advice is bogus and in some cases dangerous. After my wife was diagnosed with ovarian cysts, Japheth (completely inappropriately) suggested that she soak her tampons in essential oils to cure her cysts. Ever heard of toxic shock syndrome Japheth? He also believes that static electricity is only due to "toxic load" and that changing your lifestyle will prevent it... (Yikes! That's sounds like a crazy person!) Give him five minutes of your time and he'll surprise you with some other insane unfounded health advice. This business IS Japheth, don't be fooled by the marketing or the sales pitch. The instructors he employs are fantastic, but he pays them less than minimum wage (again, he's an aggressive contract oriented business person). And worse than that, he peddles absolutely insane health advice and truly believes his own nonsense. DONT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH HIM! He will fight you tooth and nail to cancel it and he has no conscience. ***Also, his studio is a filthy unkempt mess....***

Kojo Academy of Taekwon-DO

Just for a little back ground here first. I used to train in TKD when I was much younger. I had…read morebroken my ankle and I was forced to stop training for 6-8 years. I personally decided to come back and train at Kojo's after looking at 3-4 different dojang's. Including the one I started at years ago. I did stop at each of them and spoke with the head instructor. Before I had to stop I did make it to green belt. Master Barrett made it very clear that I may keep that rank but I felt like I wanted to start over at the white belt level and he respected that. So now lets get onto the review shall we? If i have to put this is the minimal amount of words I'd say Kojo TKD is amazing! Master Barrett and his team of instructors are great. It's really that simple! Master Barrett is the main instructor for the TKD classes. He provides a lot of structure for his classes. The classes are built upon Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-control and Indomitable spirit. Every class is different and I feel like I leave learning something new! Not to mention the workout that comes with the each class. Even the senior students help out students of lower rank. Its always done with respect and they are willing to answer any question that you can throw at them. This is a huge plus for me! I like to pay attention to detail. (Personality trait!) The Dojang is also kept very clean. Recently they just put in new training matts. So we are currently breaking them in! Kojo also offers a lot of different class times. You can pick from 2-3 on M-F ranging from early afternoon to later at night and on Saturday they have a few morning classes. Classes offered here are TKD class, Sparring, Senior belt and they even have classes for the younger kids. Over all Kojo comes highly recommended from me. For any of you that follow my reviews know that its hard to put stamp a 5/5 stars on a review like this. TKD has become more of a personal choice of fitness for me so I had high expectations here. So I'm happy to report that I can not find any thing negative to say here. If you are looking for some Martial Arts training, new dojang to train at I would really consider stopping in. Their beginner class is a great deal! They even let you take a free class and they have no contracts.

I learned respect, self-confidence, and courtesy, in addition, to staying healthy and active. I would go to Kojo almost every day after school when I was in middle school and high school. It was a home away from home. I was able to earn my 1st dan black belt and compete at the regional and national levels. However, opportunities in my life have taken me away from Kojo and continuing my training, but I am always excited to drop in, say hello, and get a class in whenever I am in the neighborhood. In short, the instructors at Kojo have so much experience, insight, and energy to offer any new student, who wishes to start or continue on in their training. I cannot recommend Kojo Academy highly enough. Try out a class and get ready to have a great time with a fantastic community!
