If you have a sick child.. stay away from here!! the front desk will try and self diagnose over the phone without even seeing my child. For example a month ago I called to let them know my 8 month old had a fever and red ear.. so I thought he needed to be seen for possible ear infection. Front desk and doctor T told me both that it's nothing to worry unless he has a fever for over a week!! So I kept pushing to be seen today and seemed angry. As soon as my son was seen that day... he was diagnosed with an ear infection and prescribed antibiotics. If I wouldn't of pushed him to be seen he would of gotten worse. I decided to give him another try after this.. then it happened again. Then this last Friday.. my son appeared sick again. This time it looks like he has an sinus infection with yellow and green discharge that won't stop coming out of his nose. I decided to call the doctors office and get him seen since he's sick! Once again they said unless he has a fever he's fine and don't come in. I asked how do you know if you haven't even seen my son? You're just guessing over the phone AGAIN?!?. Then she could tell I was getting mad so put be on hold for 20 min to .. talk with the doctor. . Then she says a runny nose isn't something you come to the doctor for?? I almost lost it. I told her this is the 2nd time now they are refusing to book an appointment to see my sick BABY! Then she said no if you really feel like he needs to be seen we can book an appointment but we don't think you do? So I gave up. I went to another doctors office and what do you know.. my son had a SINUS INFECTION! But Dr. Tamamoto thinks he can diagnose over the phone without even seeing the child. He has horrible bed side manner and doesn't seem like he cares about his patients. Im a mom of two and I'm so glad I switched because of my gut feeling. He also hands out pamphlets to you when you ask a question. Instead of explaining anything to the patient or parent. If you like doctors that are personable Then this doctors office is a huge NO! I will also be filing a complaint with my insurance too! Because this is the 2nd time he's refused to see my sick child.

I was expecting my second child and were very unhappy with our pediatrician at the time. We were…read morereferred to CMA by my sister, whose kids had been going to Dr. Yano for years and she always spoke very well of the practice. At the time, the only doctor available was Dr. Morita, who we loved instantly. It's been 7 years and she has been so wonderful with our children, very patient, and she relates well to the little ones. Our oldest is autistic and struggles with going to the doctor but she's always so easy-going with him, is super flexible with his comfort levels, is always on top of where he is at with his autism services, and offers advice and referrals whenever needed. Our little one (4) loves going to see "Dr. Dorita" and when we drive by the building, he shouts "my doctor's office". Dr. Morita's assistant, Daniel, has also been amazing, he's always so good with the kids and very patient and calm when my son freaks out about shots. He's usually there as soon as we walk in and will just wave us into the room. We have never had to wait more than a minute or two, which is a relief when you have three kids who won't sit still. I haven't really had to deal with the front desk staff, usually we just talk to Daniel or Dr. Morita, so I can't speak much to that area of the practice. We also really like that there is always a doctor available if Dr. Morita is out. The other two doctor's we've seen there have been really nice and equally as patient with our kiddos. We're moving out of state and are going to miss Dr. Morita and Daniel very much! We highly recommend you take your kiddos here, they've been so wonderful to our family!

That means if you already have a child--even just one, like me & want to switch to a closer doctor, HE WON'T TAKE YOU. Staff says he's unable to take new patients because he's "full"... however he would take me if my son was unborn? Full-of-bologna. What happens to families who relocate? Or are seeking better/closer care? EVERY CHILD DESERVES ACCESS TO CARE, NO MATTER WHEN THEY WERE BORN. His policy makes it really hard for parents who need care now. This tells me that some families are less worthy of care based on timing, NOT NEED. This kind of policy (which I've never heard of) may help manage his schedule & maybe he's looking out only for his own convenience, but it feels unfair to families who aren't expecting but still need support. They won't even give you a chance, they don't care, so don't bother calling.

It was very easy for me to set up a phone interview with Dr. Young and he hooked me from that very first call. He was very friendly, answered all my questions, gave me a bunch of information of what to expect for my newborn and the first year, and made me feel so welcomed and cared for that I decided to select him as my son's doctor. If you give birth at Kapiolani, Dr. Young will come see your newborn and make his assessments which I was a fan of (I believe he does not make any rotations at Queens, but be sure to ask). It was assuring to have him check on my baby those first couple days of his life to ensure he was healthy and able to leave the hospital and head home. My son is now 2.5 months old and we have been to Dr. Young's office a few times for his routine check-ups. I love that the office policy is to schedule newborn babies for the office opening hours (around 8am) to ensure that babies are not mixed in with older children, who are most likely sick. In addition, I have never waited long to be seen. I have had 8am, 8:30, and 8:45 appts and each time, we were swiftly brought in, I think the longest I've ever waited has been 2 minutes. I would definitely recommend Dr. Young for anyone looking for a pediatrician in or near Aiea. Only downside I can think of right now is his office does not validate parking so it'll cost you a couple dollars to park each time.

I heard about Dr. Yano specifically from a magazine article naming him one of the top pediatricians on Oahu. They highlighted how this office is open 6 days a week. LOCATION: This office is located in the Aiea Medical Building (yes the same building where Aiea Heights Drive Inn was). Parking is always a pinch here, and it's best to bring cash to pay for parking. CONSULTATION: Once I heard about Dr. Yano, I scheduled a consultation because I was pregnant with our very first baby. After I would say 3 minutes of our initial consultation I immediately knew I wanted him to be our baby's pediatrician. He is a man of god and he's not afraid to be honest with you. Our initial consultation felt almost like a marriage counseling session to prepare us as brand new parents. DAYS: This office is open 6 days a week. What office does that? They are AHHHH MAZING for that!! On Saturdays they recommend you call first thing in the morning to schedule an appointment, because they usually only work half days or up until they have appointments. FRONT OFFICE STAFF: They are all amazing. You can always call to schedule / reschedule appointments and make payments over the phone with your card. Mind you my issues had been going on since i was 12 or 13 years old and each time i went to him i complained of the same things and it got worse over time. If don't want your child to end up as I did, I suggest you find a different pediatrician. This is coming from a child that was under his care for years and who now has to suffer the consequences of his ignorance and irresponsibility! I might also add that a fee times i went in and had complained, he would tell me I never complained before since he "didnt document it" but i know for damn sure I told him what was going on and was simply brushed aside.
