Yesterday I had to get a licensed plumber to install a gas range stove in my house on an urgent basis. My service call was quickly answered by AID Appliances who managed to send a technician after hours on the same day. Vigen was my technician, who was on time, friendly, honest, and knowledgeable about the job at hand. He informed me that we would need a different gas adapter as the gas line in my house was installed decades ago and is now dated. After obtaining my permission, Vigen drove to the nearby Home Depot and bought back the right gas connector and provided me with a receipt. With the right part in hand, Vigen was able to complete the installation quickly. The final invoice was very close to the initial quote I got from AID Appliances, and Vigen was kind enough to write off the time he spent on purchasing the gas adapter from Home Depot. We were very lucky to get AID Appliances in response to a home warranty claim. VIgen arrived the morning after we put in the claim, right at the beginning of the appointment window. The communication for scheduling and the morning of the appointment were both excellent. Vigen was polite and helpful, and he work a mask throughout the visit. He had the parts to repair two broken igniters in my oven, and he was able to clean the burners on the stove. He also checked the health of the refrigerator compressor and gave some feedback about the condition of the other appliances. My husband and I were assigned AID APPLIANCES through our warranty company (Old Republic Home Warranty) to help fix a broken dishwasher door. My dishwasher door broke 10 days ago. I called Old Republic and explained in detail how the dishwasher was slightly off-axis and finally gave out when I was closing the door before starting. The agent assured me that my problem was covered under my warranty, so I agreed to pay the $75 service fee. They sent out a contractor from AID APPLIANCES, who looked at it for 1 min and decided that it was "physical damage." Specifically, they noted that this damage was not normal, and thus it fell under the 1C code: "Damage by people, pets or pests". We have no pests or pets, and I am the person they are rejecting. I specifically told Old Republic that it broke while I was closing the door to start a new wash, and yet they had me pay the $75 knowing full well that it would be rejected. When I asked the AID APPLIANCE technician what the next step would be, he said that he "had no idea" and that I would have to talk to my insurance company. He knew full well. This company is contracted by Old Republic for a reason. He knew using the word "physical damage" would reject the claim. He also never even asked us how it happened, he just had his conclusion in mind with no proof that the damage happened outside of normal use. When we appealed, they sent a second technician out. Before he even started, we thanked him for coming on a Saturday and offered to give him a good Yelp review as a thank you for his time. He flat out rejected our offer, saying that he didn't need a Yelp review. He had already made up his mind to reject our appeal before he even looked at the dishwasher. Both of those "in-network" contractors likely have kick-backs from Old Republic to reject claims. We do not trust any of the lot. We are making our story heard on Yelp, and would highly recommend avoiding AID APPLIANCES. read more
