Eddie was very kind and attentive. He gives the best haircuts. I would recommend this barbershop to anyone looking for a new one.

Bili's Hair Braiding - scalp slippage and extreme poofing of natural hair from failure to properly integrate into twist

    Bili's Hair Braiding

    (1 review)

DO NOT GO HERE. They are incompetent and refuse to accept accountability for their inferior work…read more I've been doing Kinky Twists on myself for years, I learned from watching Nafy, the inventor of the style. I gave this company one star simply because zero stars was not an option. I got Kinky Twists done on 8/3/14. I had to repeatedly correct them on how they were doing the twists. The parts were not uniform, there was and insufficient and inconsistent amount of extension hair used. The style is supposed to end with twists that are like rope--tight and uniform with no distinction between where the natural hair ends and the extension continues. That was not the case. They did not twist each strand tightly enough so the finished twists were poofy and my hair bulged out. After two weeks, the twists in the back were sliding off--some only 1/2" but others were almost to the limit of my hair. When I contacted them about this, they simply apologized and admitted that they needed to learn more. When I sent photos showing: how my hair was bulging out of the twists, how far the twists had slipped and how shoddy the work was, I got no response. I requested a refund and they ignored me. I gave them a deadline by which to respond to me but they continued to ignore me. Again, I say, do not go to this "salon." I would never have paid $250 for a style that they said would take 2-3 hours and would be done professionally since it took ~6 hours and was shoddily done.

I really wanted to have a great experience and leave a corresponding review. Found this person on…read moreStyleseat and requested crochet loc maintenance, which she said she can do. I showed up, was sat right in a chair and she started working. Long story short, she only did a retwist service, not a crochet maintenance. I kept thinking that she was doing the prep on my locs, the crochet work would start any moment. But then she was finished. I said I had asked for crochet work, and she said that my locs didn't need that; she did one interlock on one loc to show me... but I said interlock isn't crochet maintenance. It was so shocking and disappointing that I was a bit speechless. It seemed apparent that she was not familiar with the service I had asked for. There was so much goop in my locs that I had to wash them out--it looked awful. I washed my locs out two days later because they were so bad. I don't often follow up with bad experiences, have never been good at that. However, I wanted to offer the chance to make it right. So I texted through the Styleseat platform, got slow response, and eventually texted and called on a direct number. When I said how disappointed I was and sent pictures of the result of her work, I was told they don't do refunds. She would consider a discount on additional work to fix what was done--she said she would probably give me 20-30% off on my next appointment. So... I left with the wrong hair treatment, no resolution to that, and don't plan on returning.

I decided to give it the "ol college try" by trying the student salon. Noah was awesome, he listened to all the concerns I had, asked some great questions, was a great conversationalist, and was mindful of my time (had a meeting at noon). His teacher consulted on every important step and they were helpful too. At the end of the appointment my hair looks fantastic, the green is gone and I'm one step closer to getting back to my natural color after multiple mistakes on my end. On top of that, including tip it was less than $100. I'll definitely be back to try other services!

While I had been to Evergreen Beauty College Salon for a wax a million years ago, I had not taken advantage of much else. I found that they also offered student facials, which could be booked online, were an hour and 40$. While this was more than I was paying previously, the ability to book online and having better evening hours really worked for me. The room experience is pretty similar, they offer a lot of the same type of services and best of all you don't have to show your face to the teacher for inspection at the end of your session. I've been going semi regularly for awhile now, I've been satisfied with every service I have received. I've learned that you need to bring cash for a tip. I almost always opt for the customized facial. I tried the back microdermabrasion and I have a gel manicure scheduled for the future. I am starting to debate a face microdermabrasion or a chemical peel next. The price has gone up, a custom facial is now 50$, which is still reasonable, but I also now have some kind of paid membership card that gets me 20% off services making it 40$ and came with a free facial included in the cost. I'm a fan. I keep dreaming of checking out the Shoreline location, but their spa hours don't seem to include evenings. Do beware if you find someone you love they might not be there for long, but if you do try to book a follow up facial before you leave.
