The parking lot for pickers is just north of the address on Yelp but they had plenty of signs that made it easy to find. You have to go down a gravel road to get there so keep that in mind if you don't want your car getting dirty. They had quite a few rows of strawberries for picking, and had 4 different varieties available. We also saw some apple trees where the apples were growing for picking in the fall and some peach trees. They also have veggies to pick but we didn't walk that far back. A lot of the strawberry plants had been pretty picked over but still had plenty of fruit if you pulled up the leaves and looked. We ended up picking about 3 lbs of fruit to take home. The fields are super dusty so make sure to wear sneakers you don't care about because they will get covered in dirt. We enjoyed a relaxing time picking berries and enjoying the beautiful views. I will definitely be back with my husband and daughter to enjoy picking some more fruit.

Bailey's Farm is a dream. My mom and I spent the afternoon picking strawberries and raspberries together, surrounded by blooming fields and buzzing bees. The strawberries were bright red, perfectly ripe, and so fragrant it felt like walking through a natural perfume. That smell alone could heal your entire nervous system. The raspberries were generous and delicious too, but it was the strawberries that made time stop. We picked slowly, laughed often, and let the wind guide us from row to row. It wasn't just a farm--it was a pause button in the middle of our road trip, and a memory I'll hold close forever. The only thing that could use improvement is the parking lot. The entrance and exit are one-way, but it's not clearly marked. It's a small detail, but clearer signage would make arrival smoother. Still, nothing compares to stepping out of the car and into that scent. Bailey's Farm gives you more than berries--it gives you a reason to breathe deeper. And I already can't wait to go back.

We were also strongly admonished against 'snacking'. "Tasting is okay, but not snacking" the girl at the entrance said, standing next to a long list of rules. They have your pumpkin patches and apple orchard for picking. They have your classic corn maze with a hayride to take you to the entrance. They have plenty of animal friends to see and pet. And what kind of fall festivity would it be without foods, such as apple cider, corn, and brisket. The food portions were MASSIVE. I would highly recommend sharing and if you're still hungry, it's an excuse to try more food! The mac n' cheese was our favorite food, and our favorite drink had to be the cider slushy. I love hot apple cider, but their new cider slushy was so refreshing and apple-y. All the prices are reasonable too given how much food you get. For this farm, some activities are completely free if you just want to visit, such as their pumpkin patch, apple orchard, and country store. Otherwise, their weekday price is $15 and $23 on weekends (if you buy online). The caveat is that there are limited activities on weekdays depending on staff availability. I'd recommend going the weekend if you want the full experience, it's totally worth it. Swans Trails Farms is truly the perfect fall activity for everyone, and I haven't even been able to describe everything they have to offer. I was there for an apple…read morepicking event, although the organizers were a bit late, so when I showed up at the end of the apple trail I didn't see them. I tried asking the workers, but they didn't have any knowledge about it and then sent me to the front ticket booth. Let me tell you, trying to figure what was going on was a Kafkaesque nightmare. I crashed at least three other gatherings as I was being directed from one place to another. Whoops. Anyways, I finally found my group and we picked apples. I like how they had labels on each row of trees to identify the cultivar. It also turns out that they put a few crabapples in each row for pollination purposes, but they're very obviously not to be picked as the fruits are small. Apples were $3.50/lb, but slightly cheaper if you buy them pre-picked. The fresh apples taste much better than the ones in grocery stores, which can be stored for up to a year in warehouses. I was surprised to find the fresh apples were more crisp with thinner skin! I got a cider doughnut before I left, and it was so soft, tender, and pillowy! There was great apple flavor.

The adult maze is on the other side of the road, and you get their by taking the hay ride. More pumpkins and sunflower field on that side too. The maze is pretty big. Took me 20 minutes to walk out following the map. Probably takes 1-2 hours if you don't use the map. As for food, they have mini donuts, cider, burger, pizza, chicken tenders. Tried the mini donuts which were fresh and tasted pretty good. They have pumpkin and apple cinnamon flavors. Overall I enjoyed the experience, as an adult. All the kids there seem to be having a good time. Fall festival tickets not that cheap but most of the other farms charge similarly.

This week I walked home with pak choi, spearmint (cocktail anyone?!), asparagus, cauliflower, spinach and misome. I was excited about all of it but the misome really intrigued me (asian citrus-y green). My favorite part of 2020 with Skylight Farms was trying produce that was new to me but also finding a new appreciation for old favorites! I found a recipe that really showcased the misome and used mushrooms, onion, and garlic and I was a big fan!
