It may be nascent, but there is clearly a burgeoning craft brewing scene bubbling in Mexico in general, and especially in Oaxaca. Not a surprise given the import of taste in their glorious food and Mezcal options. This special spot is looking to be at the forefront of this scene.
Featuring craft offerings from all over Oaxaca, this is a delightful market where you can sit and enjoy a beer or a flight and learn about Mexican beer, or just pop in to buy some to go. They feature a few other artesian market items as well (honey, granola), but are primary a beer spot.
Tried a couple of solid IPAs from Ammon brewing (a single and a DIPA) that were excellent as well as a super-special porter made with Mezcal from Cervesa Portforio. Unique and a perfect example of how this region can contribute fresh options to the beer scene. Janice was a perfect host/barkeep, chatting with us/informing us on styles, but also leaving us alone to chat as well. Also told us they'll be adding taps for drafts soon.
Tl,dr--great spot to pop in to try out some new beers in a casual setting or buy some quality stuff to go. Hope this quality addition to this wonderful town thrives, and new beers keep brewin' here in Oaxaca. read more
