I was told the sealant they were using was an "asphalt based" product. I looked into Star Seal…read morebrand they use and discovered that the products they used is actually a coal tar-based product which is very nasty stuff and incredibly bad for the environment and anyone living in close vicinity of the sealed pavement. Several states have already made it illegal to use this type of sealant.
