This is my first review on a retail store. Our in ground pool pump and lights need replacement…read morerecently and we went to Pioneer Family Pool Service in Markham location. We are very impressed by the professional and knowledgeable assistance by the store. The store is big and has almost everything we need for our pool. We went many times as well as emailing. Every time we were treated very nicely and patiently. All their staff are very helpful. We highly recommend this store, we bought the Hayward pump and Retro LED light, our pool is now officially opened for the season thanks to Pioneer Family Pool Service.

We bought a safety pool cover in 2019 from Pioneer Family Pools with a 15-year warranty. We made it…read moreclear we needed it strictly for safety, and pool will be remain closed. Their team told us to drain one-third of the pool water every winter but this was wrong advice. In 2025, the cover collapsed and 8 straps broke. Pioneer's rep (Brian) blamed a leak without even inspecting. We monitored the pool no leak. After long delays and no real help, we contacted the manufacturer, who said the instructions we were given voided the warranty. Now we're left with a $500+ repair bill for following their guidance. We've filed a BBB complaint and found many others with the same experience. Their "Family" name doesn't match how they treat actual families. Be cautious. Like many others, we found this company online and relied on the reviews others have given. I now doubt some of the reviews they have on Google are legitimate. https://www.bbb.org/ca/on/burlington/profile/swimming-pools/pioneer-family-pools-head-office-0107-1296150/customer-reviews

I've been a customer of Tav Pools for years, and Tav and Frank always delivered outstanding…read moreservice. Since the sale of the business, the customer service has noticeably declined. I recently purchased equipment from the store, and when I needed help with an issue, the new owner redirected me to the manufacturer instead of attempting to troubleshoot or assist. His staff also gave me the runaround rather than trying to resolve the problem. I ultimately had to call someone else to fix it. If you're buying equipment here and are told it comes with warranty and support, be aware that the level of service is no longer what Tav and Frank once offered. Unfortunately, I would not trust this pool store anymore, and there are plenty of reputable pool companies in the Durham area that still value their customers.
