All of their kimchi is made fresh just days prior, and they offer a great variety with different vegetables and sizes to choose from. It's a small market, but they also carry other Korean goodies, which is a nice bonus. The kimchi I got was really good! super fresh with a nice tangy flavor, well balanced seasoning, and a satisfying crunch. It wasn't very spicy, but still really flavorful and easy to enjoy. After trying their kimchi, I don't think I can go back to store bought kimchi anymore. I was a little worried about the language barrier since I don't speak Korean, but luckily their son works there full time and helped explain the different kimchi and their fermentation process. He was very knowledgeable and patient. It was really nice supporting a family business, and you can tell there is a lot of care and tradition behind their kimchi. We picked up two jars. The red kimchi is $15 and tastes just like the kimchi you get at a good Korean BBQ restaurant. It is very flavorful and pairs perfectly with grilled meat. Add some KBBQ, a fried egg, and rice and you have a great meal. The white kimchi is $19 and is lighter and refreshing. I enjoy pairing it with pork belly wraps because it balances the richness of the meat really well. It almost feels like a palate cleanser between bites. Both were absolutely delicious. Once I finish these jars, I will definitely be making the drive back again.

I didn't have much time to peruse coz hubby was hurrying me up. By chance, met Paul, our neighbor (about a half a block away) who was busy minding the store, dressed sharply and welcoming, friendly. Most of the food that was prepared from home is written in Thai, so I inquired what's in the containers. Hubby chose the shrimp & rice, I selected the pork meal. There was so much to see & I wanted to but more but that's just being greedy lol. I picked up dessert as well. I would love to come back to check out the rest. He also had Thai eggplant, chilies, mushrooms, very small produce table but it looked fresh! Come check it out for Thai inspired items.

I waited for a while and received no assistance so I asked the guy for help. The man did not speak Dutch so I explained to him what I wanted (salami deli meat). I asked him for a pound of deli meat. I went to shop around the store and noticed the fridges were empty as were the isles. After a few minutes I came back to the deli counter and found my uncut piece of meat (in tube form) placed on the weigh scale? To my dismay I asked him if he was going to cut it with the pretty slicer machine near him? I mean that's how it used to work and how it works at any other deli meat counters. As the man cut the salami I continued to shop and picked up a jar of silver onions that looked brownish ( the onions inside the jar) and I thought well maybe they are supposed to look this way. Maybe they were a different type of onions. When I thought to look for an expiration date again to my dismay I observed that it had been expired since 2023. Unfortunately I purchased extra pedas chili which looked ok but when I got home I found out that it has been expired since 2018 (please see attached picture). This wasn't the worst of it though because we found a jar of something with leafy green bits that had been expired since 2013. Yes 2013! Bro! You think I should try the chili? You think I'll survive? This place has gone to the pits. Hopefully a health inspector straightens this place out. Furthermore when I got the salami back the slices looked as if my he deli meat cutter blade was very dull.

And when I put it on the scales, it was only 0.8lbs. I told the fishmonger, who served me, to weight it again and put the right price on the sticker but he refused to do it and kept saying the weight is right, and if I want to complain I can complain to a manager. I went to a cashier and called for a manager. It took a while for the manager to come out but he took care of the issue. I attached pictures of the weight and price before and after it got fixed. The fishmonger name is RUBEN. He was so rude and not cooperative at all. and after talking to one of the cashiers, there has been a a lot of complain about his bad attitude and rudeness. I have been to this store for so many years and see their service is from bad to worse, most of the clerks are not professional at all, especially those are in meat and seafood counter.

So off I go to Amazon and found the Datu Puti soy and vinegar for $13.99 for both. But something told me to look around my supermarkets. Nothing at Ralphs. So I asked my Fillipino coworker and he recommended Island Pacific Supermarket in Cerrittos. I enjoy trying new places. Not only did I find my items but found a value pack for both at $3.99. I also picked up a bottle of 750 ml Datu Puti fish sauce for $4.29. This is not your regular supermarket. It's a fish market and boy do they have fish. Fresh fish on ice of all varieties. There is a deli with hot food of different cultures. Not aquited with the names or favor but I am going to do some research for a future lunch. Looks good though. I did a fast walk around. Found in the frozen section a big bag of lumpias 4lbs for $27.99. I put this on my wish list for a future dinner. And YES "I will be back".

Unfortunately, this store would not allow it, which was both surprising and disappointing. As a result, they have lost a loyal customer. Customer service and consistency matter, and sadly this experience fell far below my expectations. If zero star is an option, that's what I would give this store.
