It took me about a year to realize that these folks actually have an in-house fishmonger. From what I gather, most people order ahead, then pick up their bounty on an appointed day, so the actual fish counter itself would appear to be under-stocked. On my visit to the shop today, I saw a small selection of crabs, medium-sized, pink-colored fish, and some larger, similarly hued fish. There was a wee sign over head that let one know what was on offer; I didn't read it. -same old solid selection of some fresh veg, citrus and herbs, dried goods, sauces, 'exotic' sodas, and spices. And, unlike in other like shops, Aggarwal sells the liter-size Old Jamaica ginger beer. Why buy a can, when you could buy a HUGE bottle? Yes. read more

Good morning,…
A spectacular selection of fresh, frozen and dry Asian ingredients. The only real shame is the lack of a fresh butcher. They do have some frozen meat and fish, but not a huge variety. The fresh produce section is quite well-stocked including fresh curry leaves, numerous chilies, bombay red onions, taro, sour green mango and much more! Prices are, in general, very reasonable. Staff is not friendly. read more

Just spent a whole hour in this store... Despite my highly precise grocery list :)) stock up here for good home cocked food, be it Indian, Thai or African. Or just nurture your curiosity what food you could possibly prepare with all these specialties and keep counting the years you would need to try everthing that could be prepared with products from this place. read more

This is a great store stocked with Asian ingredients, but I actually went there to buy achiote paste for a cook-at-home taco night and ended up going home with habanero sauce, a huge bag of limes and many different pouches of whole and ground spices. Great variety and prices very reasonable for Zurich. read more

History
Established in 1986.
It was in 1986 when wholesaler Ghansham Aggarwal opened his very first store. Much has changed since. The retailer developed to a specialist and today imports over 2,000 different articles. 70 percent thereof from India. The wide range includes dry items, fresh fruits, citrus fruits and vegetables, fresh fish, frozen items, beverages, household and cosmetic articles. The private labels Paras - named after the head of the family, Mohini Fine Foods, Khalis and Seaqueen are of particular source of pride.
Meet the Business Owner: Ghansham A.
He followed his heart. It is out of love that Ghansham Aggarwal moved to Switzerland in 1980. The young man wanted to go out into the wide world and took a job in Germany. And then it happened. He met his present wife, who is from Switzerland, and moved to the Alpine country. Shortly thereafter, the couple began to import and sell Indian spices. Later, his brother Dinesh moved to Switzerland. The families grew and now the two daughters Sangeeta and Chetna, son-in-law Karan, as well as nephew Amrit work in the family business. In a few years, Ghansham will retire and hand over the scepter to the next generation. Or not... it will take time to get used to doing nothing.
