Ahhhh, Agent Provocateur. The absolute antithesis of the scratchy lace, static-inducing nylon and positively red-light-district mesh that lines the shelves at Anne Summers. Where AS seems to think sex is about unskilled innuendo and cheap knickers, AP knows it's about seduction, confidence and quality fabrics. The knickers here are some of the most special knickers you'll find on the high street. And yes, they're a bit pricey for everyday wear, but they are absolutely the ticket for a little bit of bedroom action, and absolutely the best thing for feeling a million dollars. Fashion Friend absolutely swears by her big AP knickers (I think they're the 'Love' full brief £55 for a luscious pair of lacy shorties that make you feel like Marylin Monroe) for feeling sexy and confident, even under her work clothes. AP isn't about dressing as a saucy soldier and flashing your nylon gusset, it's about feeling like a woman, and being all the sexier for it. As well as an awesome range of naughty and nice pants, AP ramps up the raunch with a fantabulous range of stockings, including the Europa hold up in a variety of colours (bagsy blue!) for £18, and the positively heart-attack-inducing latex stockings for £75. The former, you can wear to the office or on a night out with the ladies. The latter, well if latex is your thing and you've got the pins, go for it. They actually manage to come off classy! An array of toys and accessories will dazzle you with crystal whips, and make you giggle with heart-shaped nipple tassels. There's something for everyone who wants a bit of fun in the bedroom, with a classy twist. The playsuits, as mentioned by Sarah-Jane, are a bit scary for a prude like myself. They're a confection of straps and nipple tassels, none of the Anne Summers euphemisms, they are unashamedly about shagging. And the bedroom's not just for love, it's also for sleep, so relax in the luxurious Desiree PJs (£245) or slip on a kimono (£450). You'll feel like a million dollars, especially if you use the amazing Maitresse body cream; smells divine and keeps your skin incredibly soft, because as much as AP is about dressing up all sexy-like, they know that there's one thing that's really hot: a woman who feels good in her own skin. read more

I went in here a few months ago looking for that special pair of knickers for my wedding day. The lady (who was very nice) who worked in there directed me over to some off gold, silk, frilly, lacy knickers, they were OK, but not really what I was looking for. I humoured her a bit and asked how much they cost. She said £80. EIGHTY QUID!!! For knickers!!! No thanks! Now my wedding day was a lovely day, and no expense was spared, but I'm not going to pay eighty quid for a pair of knickers. Anyway, I went to Debenhams and bought some lovely ones (nicer than the AP ones) for much less. So, all in all, Agent Provocateur is very nice to look at, very posh and the staff are lovely but in my humble opinion if you pay that much for knickers you need your head testing. read more

Holly Golightly liked to go to Tiffany & Co when she got the blues. Me? I love to visit Agent Provocateur. Located in the grand old Reform club building, it's a beautiful shop that's set out like a saucy retro boudoir, with racks and racks of gorgeous vintage-inspired lingerie, swimwear and hosiery. There's also a big, old-fashioned glass counter full of beautiful heels, pasties and other accessories, as well as a back room that's home to the changing rooms and, um, a four poster bed. The staff, all clad in skyscraper stilettos, stockings and pink Vivienne Westwood mini dresses, seem a little intimidating at first, mainly because they're all so bloody beautiful! But they're actually really lovely, and are always willing to help you find something or just leave you alone to browse. In fact, the only problem with AP is the prices; everything is very expensive! Still, burlesque queens on a budget should be able to pick up a pair of stockings for less than £15 and, occasionally, they have fantastic sales, which make things far more affordable. And anyway, you're not supposed to visit this shop for the everyday stuff; it's much too special. Save it for a rare treat! read more

Yes, they're pricey, but the fabric and the craftsmanship is what you're paying for. This is quality stuff, not the kind you imagine scrunched up in the back of a knicker drawer à la Ann Summers. Agent Provocateur has some stunning underwear pieces in a fabulous range of sizes. They even go up to a 34 E! However, the products are very expensive. The shop is a luxurious haven of decadence in lace and velvet, and the shop assistants are friendly. The assistants when I went in were kitted out in some of the shops wares, a little shcking at first! I went in here to get some stockings with a line down the back for a friend of mine, and she loved the decadent gift. However, I have since found them much cheaper in Primark, but they were still worth it for a gift. read more

Helpful assistants are on hand for advice and tips on items to make you feel your sexiest.
