It is clean, neatly stocked and has a good choice of newspapers - from the Express and Star to the Independent. The sweet counter is also pretty decent, with all of the e-number laden and neon coloured confectionery you could wish for. Towards the back of the shop, they sell all of the basic foodstuffs and household products you'd expect, including bread, canned foods and washing up liquid. I was quite impressed with this shop, mainly because the lady who served me was really friendly and jolly. That said, they didn't stock my favourite chewing gum (Wrigley's Extra Ice White, for what it is worth). They did sell chilled Diet Coke in a can, which is the best drink in the whole wide world. Over recent years it has become less of the giants in shopping centres of the UK. There are plenty of places to eat from Burger king to Pizza hut, however there are quite a few smaller cafes to eat from and a Millies cookies! Parking is not a problem in the weekday, however on Saturdays and around Christmas you have to be there when they open. Other shops in Merry Hill include Disney Shop, Game, HMV, WHSmith and much more. However, Over recent years it has gone down hill slightly purely at the groups that hang around the bus station and the general crowdidness of it at times. I would recommend a trip to Birmingham to the Bullring which has better shops and better ambiance anyway.

I'm an A-grade snob, one of those snobs who makes out like I'm really not a snob because I sometimes travel by bus and eat Pot Noodles. Due to my snobbery, I wouldn't normally buy my clothes from a shop in Old Hill. Yet in the name of Yelping, I decided to visit Glam Boutique. I wouldn't wear about 98% of the stock, but I was surprised by how trendy some of it was. There was 2% that I would wear and had been looking for for some time. I'm very particular about my leggings - they have to be made out of a specific fabric and have a seam free waistband. I'd been looking everywhere for them, only to find them a 2 minute walk from home and for a fiver. Glam Boutique sold the leggings I'd been looking for! Hurrah! I got really excited and went to the till only to find that they don't take card. It was all fine, there was a cash point next door. I got the money out and returned to pay, then the woman said that they hadn't got change for a £10 note. She then sent me to get it changed. By this point I was slightly miffed, but at least I still had my perfect leggings! I got home and they were too small. The moral to this story is: try on your perfect leggings before buying them, take cash and make sure that you have five pound notes.

They have big furniture items like wardrobes, beds and dressing tables - all at ridiculously low prices. I saw a fabulous 1950s dressing table in there a couple of months back and they wanted £25.00 for it. I love looking at the glassware - I've picked up some very cool Babycham glasses from there (£3 each) as well as some pretty pressed glass serving bowls and vases. They must get a lot of stock from house clearances - there are complete dinner services and tea sets to be snapped up. There is a glass cabinet by the till containing jewellery and more collectable items, though even these items are still really cheap. I love going in around Christmas time, as it makes a great place to pick up "vintage" style stocking fillers without breaking the bank.

Cradley Heath's charity shop stock tends to be of the fairly low-end high street variety (Primark, George at Asda etc.). But Sense seems to attract some more quality labels - were not talking Gucci here, more M&S or Laura Ashley! They have a big menswear section, with a ready supply of budget tailoring. The whole shop is clean and tidy, with the rails well organised. The staff are super-smiley and helpful.

They always have smart "special occasion" shoes and comfortable looking sandals. Prices aren't exactly bargain basement, but you can tell that the stock is well-made and excellent quality. There are always plenty of cars parked outside and ladies going in and out of the shop. I popped in once when looking for some shoes for my Mom - staff were helpful and friendly.
