Finding parking wasn't bad and the venue is very spacious. My friend knows how to throw a good party so of course it was decorated beautifully and had awesome entertainment. The food and drinks were phenomenal and the outdoor space was so nice. My husband and I had a great time and we will definitely keep this venue in mind for the future.

It's a busy time of year with holiday parties but they made it absolutely perfect. The tables were set and ready by noon so that florals could be placed well in advance. They have an over-achiever event director, Courtney Swaid Mince, that treats us vendors just as professionally as she treats her clients. According to my client, Courtney created additional decor without additional charge. And imagine our surprise as a vendor to see the votives we used with the table centerpieces were cleaned and packed along with the florals for us to pick -up immediately after the event. Who does that?! We look forward to working with B&A again.

We also hired Park Crest's florist Bradley and he was an absolute angel! The highlight of Park Crest, seriously. He was attentive, responsive and so kind and full of personality. He worked within our budget and became the face of park crest for most of the engagement when the prior planner left the company. When we had to move the ceremony indoors for weather, he reworked the florals we had already ordered and paid for (in the shape of a swag on the outdoor cross and entrance florals) into the most gorgeous garland for the fireplace and some entrance decor. The upcharge was fair and minimal in my opinion. He is a gifted florist and a great rep of Park Crest. The facility is absolutely gorgeous in every way. The pics in the garden are incredible. The upstairs of the carriage house was so lovely for the wedding, the downstairs was a really cool reception space. They did the sparkler exit from the downstairs space up to the getaway car. All was absolutely perfect! We also were the first ones to book their brand new "speakeasy" event space for the after party. My daughter and her husband took the getaway car up the hill to the speakeasy and their guests just walked across the parking lot. It was such a great idea and cool way to wind down the night with a much smaller group playing pool, watching the games and we had a friend who could play the piano so there were some doing their own karaoke. I highly recommend the speakeasy after hours. Bar manager Angela was a great person and she worked really hard to make this a reality. The food was really good at the reception. I expected pretty typical buffet food. The salad was more than the cherry tomatoes and shredded carrots you typically see; nice toppings and several dressing options. we had the chicken piccata, chicken tenders, mixed veggies and mac and cheese. It all was actually really tasty. Staff did a great job keeping the food trays filled and were responsive to my few requests. Now to my complaints. Biggest is communication. Like others have said, several departments are slow to respond (except when they want a payment). When Melise, the original planner we signed with left, we were in the dark on what was going on. There were quite a few months after the initial contract signing where we didn't need anything anyways so it was no big deal. When Bradley started at park crest, he reached out to us and after we met with him, we decided to hire him for the florals instead of the outside company we were originally going to use. Thank goodness we did because most every other person at Park Crest was slow to respond and seemed very disorganized (I am excluding Bar Manager Angela and the new planner from the disorganized complaint because we did not meet with them until the very end). Bradley was getting questions that we had with other "departments" answered for us. Kaleb the catering manager and whoever was in charge of getting pricing for some things like the speak easy were just not responding. We paid in full at the start but after adding the florals and a few other upgrades, there was additional amounts due and there were some errors on the amounts due. It took all the way until 3 days before the wedding to finally get that corrected (because they wanted payment lol). In the end, I say this headache was worth it because of the beauty of the facility and Bradley's skill in florals. However, brace yourself for frustration with communication. Hopefully the new planner they just hired will be a huge improvement. They really need a person who is the point person for communications and knows to be responsive. Second, I feel like whoever is in charge of pricing and deciding what to bill is extremely nitpicky and overcharging at times. When we are paying tens of thousands and had to move indoors last minute, being charged well over $1,000 for the tall drapes that are already hanging in the upstairs carriage house every time we have visited was very annoying. I would have fought that but we didn't have the time and no one besides Bradley would have responded anyways. Be careful in the original contract negotiations to include every possible item you might need because you will not be happy with the pricing for these last minute add-ons. I would still recommend Park Crest to anyone who asks. Their day of crew seems like a well oiled machine had all set up and serving done well. I suggest a planner who has worked with Park Crest to help with the communication issues.

The hours seem limited despite their posted hours, making it unnecessarily difficult to get in touch or schedule anything if you have a normal job. It often feels like they have no real interest in working with their clients. The experience of trying to work with this place felt incredibly frustrating. There are plenty of venues out there that actually value their clients.

But we just enjoy the final product more than the actual maintenance. I have been in this building years ago when it was an art gallery. But it has certainly been a while. They have such an extensive variety of plants, books, and other gift ideas here at Shoppe. And it is nestled in Forest Park which is one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city. They made good use of the space they have for outdoor plants. The greenhouse they installed is absolutely beautiful! My wife said they will host some events in there. And the inside store also has a lot of great plants to put in your house. I was fascinated by some of the books they have for sale. Since they do fill their entire space inside and out with beautiful plants, this is a very aesthetically pleasing spot to walk past and also check out.
