Today, I went in for a haircut only to discover that this place (609 Blackhawk Blvd) is now a candy store. I don't know if the barbershop moved or closed down, but I'm sad that I wasn't able to get a good old fashioned hair cut. I happened to pass another shop that might be a suitable replacement between Portland and Merrill on 4th Street in Beloit. I didn't catch the name as I went buy, but it's a black building on the east side of the road.

East State Barber Stylist

Are you looking for a local Barber that isn't affiliated with a large chain? You can't go wrong…read morewith East State Street Barber Stylists. Having longer hair and trying to let it grow, I don't get it cut too often. The last time I had it cut, Dave from here did it, and he did a fantastic job. He also gave me a hot foam straight razor shave. I had never had one before, so I realistically don't have anything to compare it to, but I will say that I loved it. It was the closest, smoothest shave I've ever had and I will definitely get one again before a special occasion. I was more than impressed by his work. The location of the shop is a little hard to find. It's in a strip mall on State Street and the store front is located between the mall they are in and the neighboring building that houses the Secretary of State's office. Thus you can't see it from State Street. Once you get in and start looking, you'll find it easy enough. The feel of the shop reminds me of one my father used to take me to when I was just a little kid. It has that old time feel; I like that. So guys if you are looking for a barber or just want to try a straight razor shave, you should give East State Street Barber Stylists a try.
