They wouldn't give my Mom a receipt and acted like it wasn't a big deal. (My Mom, a teacher, had worked at Penelope's in Keene as a side job for years and is quite familiar with antique and consignment shops). Since this date, my Mom has made multiple phone calls and visits to the store to speak with the owner and continues to get the runaround from all of the employees, including the owner's Meanwhile, my grandmother's furniture is no where to be found and my Mom has not received a single penny for these high quality/high ticket items. I find it completely disheartening that a business like this is still running in my hometown and hasn't been investigated by the better business bureau to date. Further, I'm sickened that they have taken advantage of my mother and will not come clean and own up to their greed. Do not shop here. Buyer beware!

First, the goods here have been carefully selected and displayed. We're convinced most of them are of very good quality, if used, and priced at extraordinarily good prices. In other words, they are priced to move, not to see how much money you can pay. The staff is agreeable, and they can deliver for a small charge. It's not a big store, but they have a good turnover, so frequent visits are suggested if you're looking for something specific. We found what we were looking for and more, and we have returned several times. We highly recommend it, along with a visit to Find It in Keene. (See our other review.) We'd suggest avoiding Penelope's in keene, which sells higher priced, lower quality items, in our opinion.

When we walked in we were quickly assisted by staff who made a point to try and find the perfect necklace. When we weren't able to find the one we were looking for, they told us that they would put a few together the next day so that we could see the options. This alone was incredible and we are excited to see what they come up with. This store also had an incredible selection of vintage jewelry. Overall the staff here is great, the merchandise is incredible, and the prices are reasonable. We will make it a point to stop here in the future as well as for our future necklace.

From start to finish, working with Snow's was a smooth, responsive process: phone gets picked up by someone nice, Ed swings by to estimate because he was in the area, they follow up with day & time later that day, a 2-man team descends on the yard (3/4 acre) a couple of days later and cleans up w/in ~3 hours, including gutters, just in time for winter. Other than exchanging pleasantries and pointing out a couple of things to watch out for, I just sat back and watched the "SWAT team" from inside my cozy kitchen. I then had Snow's come back during a warm week in January to take down 4 hemlock trees. The original thought was to trim the branches over my roof but after discussing with my neighbor, I decided to have the trees taken down. Ed and another SWAT team arrived to reassess early. 1 day to trim (including 2 other trees) and 1 day to take down. Anything that could be chipped was. Any debris was blown & cleaned up. Communication at each stage was very good. They're pleasant but not overly chatty. The guy who's up in the bucket for 6-8 hours with the chainsaw is amazing. He also cleaned out a gutter that's hard to reach. The care taken with my neighbor's driveway & lawn was appreciated. Other than a few tracks, you couldn't tell they'd been there. Once the ground refroze, they sent over a heavy-duty lumber truck to pick up the big trunks. He took all of 20 minutes. Taking down trees is not cheap. But, if you're going to do it, and you're picky, and you don't want it to drag out over days and weeks while some weekender figures out when he can do it with ropes and hiring a chipper, call Snow's.

So I went to the hardware store and got an off-the-shelf carpet cleaner for $7.99. The stain came out. Later, they contacted me about payment, but never asked if I was happy with the service. I paid, and informed the owner that I had some feedback to share that could be useful, if they wanted to improve. I received a curt note from the "co-founder" that made it clear that she had zero interest in knowing anything about the situation, or how her customer felt about it. She simply wrote: "Thank you. I will keep that in mind the next time." Your experience may vary, but you may want to try the $7.99 off-the-shelf approach before you spent hundreds of dollars with Catamount. I wish I had.

After talking to my partner about wedding invitations we decided to stop in at CopyCat to look at…read morewhat options they had available. When I walked into the store I asked one of the employees for what items they had and he seemed a bit confused. His co-worker pointed me towards the books they have for invitation templates and I spend some time looking through the items. While looking at what they had for invitations I quickly realized that the prices were high and that I could probably get better options online for cheaper. Since that was the case I ask the employee if I could bring in my own stock and have them printed on it. This was an option and he politely gave me the business card to call about further questions. In the end I didn't print anything but was able to ask them a few different questions. The staff seems nice enough but it would have been more pleasant if I had received a little bit more support around questions. Even though that was the case, I know that what I was asking of them probably isn't typical day-to-day questions so I appreciate the time they took to support me.
