I felt compelled to write this review about ER Select, a staffing firm which has an office in Des…read moreMoines, IA -based on an experience that I had with them while I was looking for work (I've since found permanent work and don't need them anymore). I applied to a job listing in early May for a marketing position, and shortly after I was contacted via email by a representative of ER Select, or, Employee Relations Associates. Of course, the first order of business was for me to come in and meet with them. They instructed me to bring two forms of ID, and to dress business casual, which I obliged. I was set to meet with ER Select on May 7th at 1pm. I ended up meeting with Lacey, the director of recruiting operations for their Des Moines, IA office. We talked at great length about my previous experience in Marketing, what positions ER Select had available, as well as what career I was looking for. I felt we had a great rapport, the interview went great, and I was generally excited to find out what positions I could potentially be placed at; after having spoken to Lacey about all of the Wells Fargo positions they supposedly had upcoming. Everything sounded very promising. Lacey stated at the time that ER Select obtains positions pretty much all of the time, but when I met with her it was the end of the week, so I probably wouldn't hear anything until early next week when they usually hear of new positions. I never heard from Lacey, and so I followed up with her a few times; on one follow up, the overall tone of the call was if I was disturbing her, or she was too busy to talk. I got the impression that I probably shouldn't call back to check if they have any positions available. Ever. Lacey told me that whenever they got something in, they would call me. I probably made a total of three follow up calls at most, maybe not even that many. In any case, I wouldn't waste my time with ER Select. It's much better to deal with more professional, well established staffing firms who already have a solid footing in the Des Moines, IA metro area. According to ER Select's website, they've only been around since 2011. This is probably the reason why I had the experience that I did? And if ER Select doesn't like this review, then they need to take better steps EVERY TIME, and make a reasonable effort to be a resource for a job seeker. I would NOT recommend ER Select to anyone. They are a waste of time and space in Des Moines, IA.

A few months later, I was hired into a full-time position with this bank. ER Select helped me so much in getting me ready for the interview process for this position. Every few weeks, the agent who hired me from ER Select would come to the bank and check-in with me and see how I was doing. ER Select cared so much for me throughout my time with them and I cannot say enough about how much they mean to me. Absolutely AMAZING staff and incredible passion from all of their employees. I swear by this organization and know that you will have a fantastic experience with them. Thank you, ER Select!

My communications with them were always polite and professional, yet for whatever reason(s), they refused to help me. I tried many times to reach out to them. I only got one real reply, but it was only empty lip service with no actual follow up. They never told me why they ghosted me. I can only speculate since they refuse to even explain their behavior. Regardless, when I was unemployed and most needed their help, they completely abandoned me without any explanation. So, I would warn you to think twice about doing business with this particular staffing agency. They are callous and need to do better. Shame on Robert Half.

This employment agency is worthless. Assuming I don't get transferred to some voicemail to leave a message that's almost never returned, the agents always say the position has been filled, even if it was posted that day! The one time they said they did have a job available, it wasn't even vaguely related to my skills and interests; and it was for Wells Fargo, which is one of the worst companies that has ever existed. Also, they never respond to e-mails. Messing with Robert Half is a complete waste of time. This employment agency is an absolute joke. Do not use it.

I have family in Iowa, so I reached out to Remedy and asked for their help finding work. They found me a great job within a week of me reaching out to them while my family found me an apartment. I went from being incapable of paying for a place to stay and living in a basement to having my own two bedroom apartment and a full time job with overtime. And I just got hired on full time by the employer! Thanks Remedy!

And like recruiters usually do, she simply said they didn't have anything else. Well I told her I would begin looking for another job and give my two weeks notice when necessary. Within 2.5 weeks of this conversation, the assignment mysteriously ends. This really put me in a bind financially as I went a few weeks without any income due to this foolishness. And I know for a fact Remedy is looking for another replacement because I saw the agency wide email sent out in regards to this after they let me go (I still have friends on the inside). Needless to say Stacy is petty and unprofessional, I would never return to Remedy again or recommend anyone else either. They also make you go through a scam artist company called Comdata if you want direct deposit. I had several problems with them and they charge fees for everything. There are far better temp agencies in Des Moines especially ones with higher paying jobs. In the end, I'm glad it worked out this way because my new assignment pays a much BETTER wage based on my experience and it's Remedy's loss.

I was waiting there for 30 minutes before someone came in to see me. We went over my resume pretty quickly, discussed jobs I was looking for. I called inquiring about a web designer job on or around the last week of June and spoke to a Blair Underwood. He immediately suggested that I should come in for an "interview." I first declined, as there was a sense of urgency in his voice to get me to come in, for whatever the reason (subsequently wasting my time). So I reluctantly agreed to meet the folks at Midwest Professional Staffing. Blair said I would be meeting with Darin Longman. I meet with Darin, and everything sounded hopeful to get me in front of their client, Seneca Tank. Darin specifically explained to me, "if I was the account manager, id submit your resume." Long story short, I call Darin Longman on Tuesday of this week, and he states that he hasn't heard from the account manger; as I am writing this review, they have yet to submit me to their client! Any other reputable staffing agency will get a potential employee submitted within a day. I was shocked to say the least. On top of that, Darin said he would be out for the rest of the week; I didn't really buy that. I take it upon myself to email Seneca Tank to see if they are actually even hiring for a web designer position. Two days later I get an email back stating: "Marlon Thank you for contacting us. Currently this position is not available for hiring. We will be looking towards the end of the year to begin to take applications. I will definitely keep yours on file and contact you for an interview then." In my opinion, I feel I was lied to or misled by Midwest Professional Staffing, even after I repeatedly asked Blair Underwood before I met with them, if the web designer job was still available. Blair told me it was, and so did Darin Longman. Based on my experience, I would steer far and clear of Midwest Professional Staffing. There are far more reputable staffing agencies in the Des Moines, IA metro area that actually submit employees to clients, rather than hold out on them with their account managers.
