I should have known better than to trust "I'll have my associates work on it and they charge less but if I work on it I will charge my fees (300+)". The bill was almost 4k and I started crying because I didn't know how I was going to swing that. Then she sent a notice saying they would not submit my returns and would file for an extension if I didn't pay her invoice. I had every intention of paying and did on time. I asked for a breakdown of the costs for the price of doing my taxes, and she only wrote back "I saved you in taxes blah blah blah" but never gave me an explanation or breakdown of service fees. I still have no idea what her associates were charging hourly. Lesson learned. I will never do business with a firm that isn't clear about their charges for service. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE.

We had a nice meeting with basic advice, and she stated it would be a couple of months before she had any numbers for me since she was currently working on quarterly taxes. We had a few email exchanges with Melissa over the next months and a phone call but never received any numbers. This year around March, my husband reached back out to them to do our yearly taxes. Melissa emailed us a few times answering some questions. For the past month, my husband and I have been uploading our tax documents into their platform without anyone from the office asking us penitent questions needed to complete our return. We still didn't know how much we were going to owe so we put our information into Turbotax to see an estimate and to make sure we were sending them everything they needed. A week before taxes were due, we asked them directly if they were going to have our taxes completed because we hadn't heard from anyone nor been asked anything about our different tax situations. We told them in the email that if they were unable to file in time, we could use Turbotax so we didn't receive a penalty but we wanted them to file them. I also told Elizabeth that it looked like we were going to owe a lot more than we expected next year because we failed to meet an exemption that we were unaware of before selling our home. I told her that I would have expected that to be something she told me during our first meeting because it makes a huge financial difference. Instead, of calling me to discuss the matter, Elizabeth sends us an email six days before taxes are due telling me that she is discontinuing our relationship because I questioned her integrity. She was also offended we had used Turbotax. The entire situation was unprofessional and immature.

You definitely get what you see, with no surprises... As much as I liked 7 Nightingales, their prices were just a little out of my comfort zone. I don't have a college degree and I'm in a job transition due to recently moving to South Carolina. However, after interacting with 2 other companies, I came to my senses real quick! While certainly I could have done it all myself, I wanted the benefit of tax advice and assurance that each return and associated schedules would be prepared correctly (read: lowest tax liability). As I was interested in a small office/sole practitioner, Allan G.Bolden, C.P.A., presented exactly the interface I was looking for. The front office staff is friendly, professional and efficient. Each January, we receive a notebook in which I complete tax-related proprietary forms and attach official documents which simplify the practice's information gathering phase. During our appointment, we discussed (with Allan) changes in our lives over the last year ... and anything that we could foresee ... that could affect our tax position in 2017. Allan does not actually key the input, that is completed by one of the staff specialists; however, he reviews every return and accompanying schedules. I like the fact that I've seen the same faces year after year. I know you're wondering about cost ... it's a function of the number and complexity of schedules ... so our cost each year has varied. We just signed off on our 5th year of returns. The turn around time was 3 days (including Sunday). If you're looking for a consummate tax professional ... Allan G.
