All the way from Botswana I found Aerostar through LinkedIn after a referral from my colleagues. They had previously enrolled for their ATP-CTP and had a great experience especially on the A320 & B737 SIM. Shaun Scott wasted no time in assisting me & my training partner with all the enrollment requirements including VISA application processes & even the crew rate discounts . Fast forward to my training, both ground and SIM Instructors had a wealth of knowledge from airline flying backgrounds in both American based and international airlines which convinced me not to only complete my ATP-CTP with Aerostar but also to complete a fast track program and initial type rating on the A320. I had an option to take up the B737 but with my AT76 experience I was comfortable with the Airbus. Unprofessional behavior, failure to honor promises, suspected scam To all international applicants -- be extremely careful with this training center. They do not follow their own written commitments. Before enrolling, I specifically clarified what would happen if my U.S. visa was denied. An Aerostar staff member, Alyshia Sargent, clearly confirmed in writing that the enrollment fee would be refunded in full, minus the $200 I-20 fee. Based on this, I made the payment in August 2025. In April 2026, after my visa was officially denied, I submitted all required documents and requested the refund. At that point, the same staff member attempted to refuse the refund by introducing a "new rule" (effective January 1, 2026) requiring two visa denials. This requirement did not exist at the time of payment. They are trying to apply new rules retroactively. After I pointed this out, they stopped responding completely. Even if my case is not very common, it clearly shows how this business handles non-standard situations -- by ignoring their own commitments and avoiding communication. They may appear cheaper at first, but this is misleading. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend avoiding them. read more

Pilots, Be Very Aware - My Experience With Aerostar I want to share my recent experience with Aerostar so other pilots are aware before enrolling. Be very aware. I paid $11,000 in total, including $7,000 for the Airbus type rating and a single-pilot supplement. Shortly before my written exam, Aerostar suddenly added an unexpected $3,900 extra charge without any clear explanation. When I questioned it, some of the messages related to these charges were later deleted. Despite multiple emails, I received no response, no clarification, and no refund. I was removed from the course without proper justification. In my personal opinion, the simulators were outdated, and the communication I experienced was highly unprofessional. In my view, this was an extremely rude and unprofessional outfit. Avoid them at all cost. There are many other training options available. They may seem cheaper at first, but in my experience, it ended up costing a lot more--and I ended up with no service delivered and no refund, forcing me to consider legal options just to recover what I paid. Company did not have my certificate ready when I completed my training. They said they would ship out a replacement certificate which they did, however the certificate had the wrong information on it. I notified them of the error and they sent me a bill to replace the certificate. I emailed them saying I should not be billed for their error and they blamed me for not double checking my certificate prior to leaving. i told them I could not have checked the certificate because they had misplaced it. I completed the ATP/CTP certification program on September 3, 2024. Despite multiple outreach attempts AeroStar they did not record the completion of my program until December 3, 2024. The recording of this completed certification was critical for verification requirements for the VA Benefits Office. AeroStar received financial benefits owed to me on December 9, 2024 and as of the date of this review then have not returned my funds to me nor have they responded to multiple attempts to address and receive my funds. I would not recommend this organization for any certification given their complete lack of business practices and abuse of a Veteran. read more

If I could give this place less than 1 star I would. AeroStar has the worst customer service you can imagine from a flight school. I called to obtain info about their instrument rating program and two mins into the conversation the admissions lady (ALISHA) thinks I'm lying about having my pilots license! I greeted her very nicely so I was shocked with the amount of negative energy and lack of willingness to help that came from her. With the few questions I asked, she had so much attitude and would reply as if she was irritated with only a hard "No" or "Yes" knowing she could take the extra step to explain more about the program. I confronted her about this and her response was "what else do you want help with?!" I kindly ended the phone call and looked to continue my flight training elsewhere. read more

I prefer to remain anonymous, but I feel compelled to share my experience with this facility. It is currently under investigation by the FAA certificate office in Dallas--feel free to reach out to them for further details and to report them. Both the facility and the instructors have been sent compliance letters. I enrolled for training here, but the experience was frustrating. They repeatedly scheduled and canceled sessions, and on one occasion, the instructor didn't show up at all. The center manager, Jerry, lacked the necessary expertise, and I discovered that training records had been falsified, indicating activities that we never actually did. Despite claiming to have qualified instructors available, I learned through the scheduler, other staff, and instructors themselves that they did not have the personnel to fulfill the course within the planned timeframe. Additionally, they were unable to provide a fixed schedule or even confirm a date with an examiner, who also served as the instructor. The instructor could only manage so many lessons before having to act as the examiner, which limited their ability to follow through with the training. The FAA requires specific ground training, which they did not provide, and they failed to administer the required systems exam before our sim sessions. As for scheduling, they often gave us little to no notice--sometimes only 15 minutes--which didn't leave enough time to even drive to the location. I also discovered that the owner is involved in ongoing litigation, and there are records of past and current legal proceedings under "Aerostar" or "Diedra Toye or Wilson" in Osceola court includes the repossession of a simulator and suing a former employee for a gift of Louis Vuiton purse. They also haven't paid for the software to run the simulator which results in you looking at the watermark on the screen which is a distraction in training. The company's lack of transparency, combined with constant falsehoods and threats of additional charges, made for a highly unprofessional environment. After over a month of mismanagement, I decided to leave. When I informed them of their breaches of the contract, they claimed I was in breach instead. A former partner and a friend who works in aviation advised me to leave as well. They warned that the owner is quick to engage in litigation, often bringing in international students, keeping them on site to rack up additional costs for hotels and cars, while dragging out training unnecessarily to ensure students don't complete their programs. If you're looking for serious training that will be recognized on your pilot record, I strongly advise against this place. The CPAT program is poorly structured, with little to no guidance for the written or oral exams. When I asked for help, I was told I couldn't speak with an instructor, even when I offered to pay for their time. For a more reliable and structured training program, I recommend ATP Jets. They have paper trainers, a simulator lab, and a clear-cut program that outlines exactly what you need to know for your written and oral exams. You will get done on time, with support, and feeling at ease. Worth every dollar. I hope the FAA reviews their certification thoroughly, and I encourage others to report their experiences to the FAA as well. read more

I was a student of Aerostar doing a 737ng type rating however the owner of the school stolen my money and other students money I was also put on hold for 4 months and a half between Simulator breaking and instructors availability and lies and lies and more lies . The owner of Aerostar hires specialists to delete her bad reviews from Google and I can assure you that school rating was 3.7 and all of the sudden they managed to delete 20 one star review within 3 days by paying some special company who have specialists to dishonest reviews but leaving 2 or 3 bad reviews so it looks normal. Avoid this company it is a scam stealing money from you believe me I lost 3 times the money I paid to the rating itself . read more

I am deeply disappointed by Aerostar Training Services' lack of professionalism and their failure to meet their commitments. On June 21st, I enrolled in Aerostar Training Services' flight school with the expectation of completing the ATP/CTP B737 combo upgrade course within 7-9 days, as promised. The course cost was $9,500. However, from the first day of the ground school, they were unable to provide me with any simulator schedule. I received my schedule only on 10/26, two days after completing my ground school, stating that my first simulator session would be on 6/29 and the simulator check-ride on 7/6. At this point, it was already obvious that I wouldn't finish my training within the declared dates. On July 2nd, the simulator malfunctioned, resulting in an unexpected delay in my training that has lasted for over a week. Moreover, they were unable to provide adequate information about the repair time, so I could plan my return to Russia, even though I called them every day. I requested compensation for the unexpected expenses incurred due to the simulator malfunction and urged them to prioritize scheduling my remaining training hours once the simulator was operational. Despite their assurance of prompt attention, I received no response from the company. When the simulator was eventually fixed, they were able to provide ATP/CTP part of the training and schedule my check ride for the 15th of July. However, it was canceled on the evening of the 14th of July without providing a satisfactory explanation or alternative solution. Their subsequent email cited a last-minute personal emergency involving their examiner, leading to the inability to fulfill his responsibilities. They provided potential dates for rescheduling the check ride (7/28-8/22), which were unacceptable for me due to my job with an airline. They offered no compensation or resolution for the previous delays and financial losses I experienced. After receiving no response to my request to schedule the check ride earlier, I was forced to return to Russia. For approximately two months, I sent them letters inquiring about the availability of check airmen in the near future so I could schedule my job vacation for the check, but I received no response. Finally, on the 9th of September, they were able to provide me with a check ride date of 10/12. However, when I arrived, the local instructor assumed that I needed additional training due to the long break after my July training, and the check ride was rescheduled for 6:30 AM on 10/13. When I arrived at the simulator in the morning, I waited there for an hour only to find out that they had canceled my exam for mysterious reasons, without even notifying me. Later, I was told that they failed to send my documents to the FAA in order to conduct my check on 10/13. They then rescheduled my exam for 10/17. On 10/15, I received information that my check was again rescheduled for 10/18 because scheduling manager David, for some reason, decided to prioritize other individuals who had enrolled after me with an October start date for training. When I asked him why this was the case, he simply stated that "it was important for them" and that he was unable to switch our positions because he had already sent the check ride date information to the FAA. At 8:30 AM on 10/17, I received a call from another Aerostar representative asking where I was and informing me that the examiner was looking for me. I had to rush to the training center to avoid missing my check ride. As I later discovered, scheduling manager David had attempted to postpone my exam but failed because someone had already filed documents with the FAA for a check ride date of 10/17. Instead of the declared 9 days, it took 4 months to receive my ATP certificate, costing me an additional $5,000 in expenses on airline tickets and accommodation. read more

I came from overseas for 737 NG upgrade however the Simulator was broken and they don't have examiner on the 737 . I asked to return my money however they declined and I lost my money and I had to return home because I have a job for an airline. I lost all my money and I can't get it back because they fooled me with a wire transfer which is impossible to get it back. Very bad experience. I regret choosing that school.  To enroll you they are very good, but afterwards to give you information, details, to answer questions, fill out forms like TSA, IACRA, answer the phone or emails... a nightmare. Pilotservices like nonexistent, no receptionist, no customer service. A fixed phone that nobody answered. They didnt tell me the info about fingerprints, so i had to do a specific trip to the US to give my fingerprints, which could have been avoided. They messed up the sim schedule and gave me less time. They said i had the correct time, and i insisted so they accepted it. They give you the CTP course and they dont use any of that time to prepare you for the type rating. Then at the type rating course, they put all our training sessions for the checkride on the same day. Four hours for me, and four hours for my partner, plus briefings, 13.5 hours in one day, can you believe it, and then the checkride the next day, no rest time, nothing!!!! Also there was a misunderstanding and i missed 3 hours of ground CTP time one day, and the instructor volunteered his time, 1.5 hours to give me what i missed. The school charged me for 3 hours, even thought the instructor didnt charge them, and it was only 1.5 hours. They didn't pay him nothing, he told me. I tried calling to sort it out, sent emails, no answer whatsoever. I was anyway willing to pay for 1.5 hours and they kept sending me the invoice for 3 hours, 315usd. The day before the checkride they told  me if I didn't pay in full, i couldn't do it. Reticently i paid. The day of the checkride  a saturday, the manager asked my on a WhatsApp message at 6 am if i had paid, and at 8 am he wrote me that the checkride was cancelled. I was asleep. I saw my messages at 9 am. I called him, no answer, i messaged, no answer. Same on sunday, same on monday morning. Around midday on monday i received  a rescheduled checkride for Tuesday. Altogether it took me three weeks to do everything. I asked for two extra sessions to feel ready for the exam, but it all could have been done in  10-11 days. And every day that passed i had to pay hotel, car, food. This is a short version of it all. My recommendation, avoid this school by all means. read more

Ground school was done with professional instructor. However, our long waiting has been started after that due to inoperative simulator. Students who started jet rating course in June are still on going. Students who started in July are still waiting. Most of them are not even yet flown with simulator. (we do not know how many guys will come in August) We are not sure when our simulator session will begin and finish. Burden is increasing due to additional budget for our base camp like hotel, car, food, changing flight schedule etc. since nothing is defined and scheduled. AEROSTAR does not allow refund or compensation to those students. Meanwhile talked to us directly that "AEROSTAR is doing our best to fix the simulator so please go back to your place and study more". All were very shocked after his sentence because we could feel how this guy treats us. (by the way, most of staffs are kind) We came to here with big dream but it became big disappointment. Most of international students want back to their countries but to due no refund, we're now staying somewhere in Kissimmee with sadness and regret. I think AEROSTAR should make decision to continue or discontinue the tens of students' HOLDING over Kissimmee. Because loosing TRUST for those will become bigger like tens of hundreds, tens of thousands internationally then no one would like to be with AEROSTAR in the future. In China, there is famous saying that 'feet-less words go miles' which could be similar that 'bad news travels fast'. So students satisfaction should be considered at first. read more

During my time here, I've seen multiple instances where people went home without finishing their training. The school does not communicate about delays and what the problem is. Just a week or so ago, some students went for their sim ride only to be met with the technician asking why they came. The sim was broken for weeks and nobody told them that their schedule was cancelled. This is a 10~26 day course. And people make temporary arrangements to be there. Aerostar does not even tell people what the problem is and is refusing to offer any sort of compensation. For ten grand, I would assume that people would get better treatment. Students paid the full amount to attend the course and they are not even providing a fraction of the training that they are owed. read more

I recently paid for an A-320 type from Aerostar - and if I had to do it over again, I would have gone somewhere else. My assigned sim instructor was a CRJ captain who had an A-320 type-rating. Sim partner assigned to me told me he hadn't flown anything bigger than a Piper. As you would expect, he crashed consistently - and repeatedly - all week. Very little improvement, even with his PNF skills. Nice enough dude, just in way over his head. I had never flown an Airbus, but I'm typed in a few other planes (all Part 121 training) - so I understand the typical protocol in getting typed. When I asked for a sim partner who was at least familiar with CRM, it seemed to really upset the executive mgmt at the company. In fairness, my instructor fully understood that I needed an adequate partner - and promised me it would happen. He probably tried, but the top brass was determined to type the other guy (my sim partner). After session 6 - where we're signed off for the check ride - we had a different instructor, who told me that he wanted to give me one more session before signing me off. He said that since he was an Airbus captain, he knew what needed to be addressed before I took the check ride. I agreed to it (any remedial sessions are paid for by the student - above the original ten grand), and expected to be called by Aerostar with the updated schedule. Instead, they put me back with the original instructor (CRJ guy) and the same sim partner (we were on lesson six, and he was still on lesson one). Since we had gone past the ten days that I had scheduled to be at Aerostar, I had to fly back home to check in for a four-day trip. I emailed the company and told them I'd be back immediately after my trip to resume training, and that I would bring a friend with me to sit in as my PNF - who was an A-320 capt at Virgin America. Aerostar's mgmt was clearly upset, and told me "I was not permitted to leave." This was in February - and I still haven't been rescheduled. The fine print says they have complete control over the schedule - and despite my efforts to get them to schedule me, it's not happening. They either ignore my emails - or respond with a promise they don't follow through with. They have my 10K, and I can't get them to 'allow' me to complete my training. After two months of not being scheduled back in the sim, I finally had enough - and went to the local FSDO and spoke to their POI. Now they're REALLY upset - and requiring me to sign a non-disclosure agreement to continue training. They had an opportunity to fix this from the very beginning - and for whatever reason they chose not to. By creating 2 month-long gaps between sessions, they are also creating the need for me to buy more sim sessions just to get back to my proficiency level from my last session. Not a good business practice - especially since they profit from it, and the customer gets screwed. As I said, I wish I had gone somewhere else for the type. read more

Anyone who has ever flown in an airplane knows that aviation as a profession is subject to equipment malfunctions - airplanes & sims do break. If Aerostar's policy is 2 hours or 4 hours or whatever, it is irrelevant. An Aerostar employee agreed to 1 hour and invoiced me for 1 hour. It's quite offensive that they respond to my review by tiptoeing around the truth and implying that I made the mistake. They would have more credibility and honor if they just admitted that they screwed up for their mistake. Pilots are not stupid; a politician type response to my review is foolish. read more
