We had a small renovation done in our kitchen. We were replacing our wall oven for a larger one. Many companies we asked would not take on the project because it was not a full kitchen reno. We spoke with Ronal about our reno and he was able to accommodate our request. We felt that Ronal was very honest and up front about our kitchen modification. He wanted to point out all the potential complications that could happen with the reno (colour matching, floor modification, toe kick modification) We also wanted to save one piece of the old cabinet to be used on the new installation. Home renovation is inherently stressful for most homeowners. It is typically riddled with horror stories and unforeseen problems leading to high unexpected costs, but Aero Kitchen and Bath services were invaluable for our project. I am extremely pleased with the end results of our home renovation. We decided to embark upon an ambitious renovation of the main floor of our home, the scope of which included renovating the kitchen and the main washroom. We wanted to knock down a non-load-bearing wall to create a more open concept kitchen and dining area for entertaining our guests. In addition, it allows us to monitor our children more closely when they are playing in the dining area. We had a vision, but we did not know who to contact to execute on our vision. We perused through Houzz for professional contractors and noticed that Aero Kitchen and Bath had a solid reputation and high ratings. And as the saying goes, the rest is history. Transparency: 10/10 We scheduled an appointment with Ronal for a free consultation. Ronal was one of the few contractors to arrive on-site to quote for our project at the agreed scheduled time. Within a few days, a preliminary quote was emailed to us. After receiving a few quotes, it was clear that we would hire Aero Kitchen and Bath. Ronal's quote was very detailed. The quote gave us a detailed breakdown of every line item. The other contractors just gave us one figure for the entire project. We were disappointed with the lack of details from those contractors. In our opinion, it leaves room for misinterpretation and the false assumption on the scope of work. With Ronal's quote, we knew exactly what we were paying and receiving. After signing off on the project, Ronal provided us with a 3D layout, which gave us an opportunity to get a feel for what types of design will look good to us and look good in our home. Procedure: 9/10 Throughout the entire project, our main point of contact was Ronal. From the beginning stages of conceptualization and preliminary discussions through to the finished job, we were consulted, informed and kept appraised of all aspects of the job and status. Any problem or issue that arose during the process of construction was addressed immediately, easily and effectively. Our renovation completed within the agree timeframe. Budget: 9/10 Working within the agreed budget was a strength of Ronal and Vinesh. They both were committed to working within our budget for our home renovation. Overall, we were pleased with the management of funds during the entire project. Team/Crew: 10/10 Thanks to Ronal, we only needed to talk to one person to address any concerns we might have. If we had any questions or concerns, Ronal always addressed it quickly by presenting us with possible options on how to proceed. The people doing the work are professionals, and they work fast and efficient. Their crew were reliable, courteous, and respectful of our property and privacy. Aero Kitchen and Bath is an all family company with excellent specialists in the fields of plumbing, construction,electricity, flooring, and are competent in all areas of house renovations. Their specialty is custom cabinetry. My kitchen was transformed from an older non-workable kitchen to a larger, modern, serviceable work space. The utilities were moved strategically at our request and funds were saved by replacing upper cupboard doors with new better quality Shaker doors. Drawers and a new quartz counter top replaced the lower cabinets. They are able to work on and complete many different tasks simultaneously. During my kitchen reno my flooring was changed throughout my entire house. Throughout demolition, construction, and the ups and downs of renovations, everyone in the employ of Aero Kitchen and Bath were courteous, showed initiative in suggestions to do a better job in many areas, cleaned the area each day when they left, and collected and removed all waste as best they could. My kitchen renovation took only six weeks to complete. It would have been done even sooner if there hadn't been the unexpected delays in production, required drying time, etc. There were many days when they did not leave until late into the evening when preparing a specific stage of remodelling. We hired Ronal and Vinesh in spring 2015 to renovate our kitchen, ensuite, hall bath and then do some additional tile on two small landings and a basement bath (which also included some new drywall and paint). I waited for nearly a year to post a review because I wanted to do so after some emotion had subsided. We were assured they could work with both our timeframe and our budget and this is the area that was most problematic. There were typical supplier and other issues which I'm not touching on below. With regard to things within Aero's control, I'll highlight things from most to least positive below. Trades (4 stars) For the most part, Tristan did the trades work on our place, with Vinesh working with him (more early than later) and he did a very good job. He was a pleasure to be around and was very diligent in his attention to detail. I do think more resources on a sizable job like ours would have helped, as he was seemingly overworked. Plus, one tradesperson to do electrical, plumbing, tile and most installation was definitely a key issue in time management. One negative was any drywall work. They didn't have a drywaller and it showed. Tristan didn't do the drywalling. Many places where patching, sanding and painting were done had to be re-done, sometimes after they had painted it. Big undulations that were very visible to the naked eye, but apparently good enough to paint. Poor quality control with regard to drywall. Finishing (3 stars) The finishing in the kitchen was generally fine, in the upstairs bathrooms less so. At first, Jerry was doing work like grout, caulking, cabinet door installation, etc. We found a lott of this work substandard. Initial installation of kitchen cabinet doors was crooked, he missed large gaps left in his grout work and even used the wrong colour caulking in the bathroom in places. In areas where he was doing caulking around bathroom basins, tile edging, shower doors, etc, as opposed to a nice bevelled bead, there were large finger smears (still are some). I've had to since remove it and re-caulk the tile edging myself. Largely the problems here were having someone without the skill to do finishing work and poor quality control again. It was clear in the last week of the project that they were so far over time, that they were rushing to get out. I almost forgot that, as they were moving our laundry set back into place after tiling the landing, they broke the doors when jamming them back. We only discovered this late, but ended up removing them. Project management (2 stars) When we hired them, we had a budget in mind and a date by which we absolutely needed to be done. While they made the date, literally at the last day, we had originally asked them to be done at least a few days in advance so we could clean before we were off on vacation. Originally they planned to be done a couple weeks early. They seemed really time crunched as the project had been originally a 6 week engagement, which ballooned to nearly 10. They started a week later than planned. Ronal 'thought' they could still do it in 5. I knew that wouldn't happen but also didn't expect nearly 10 weeks. As far as I'm aware, not once did Ronal ever do any kind of timeline planning or use any standard processes such as plugging actuals into estimates and revising. Budget management (1 star) In terms of budget management, we started at a $53k estimate with some uncosted things. We expected it to be as high as $60k, and had verbally indicated we could go NO higher than $65k. After multiple requests, we received the 'midpoint' invoice 5 weeks in and it was already at $64k. I pressed Ronal for a reason why and got silence and avoidance. He assured me that most costs were already accounted for. Knowing we would now not even come in at $65k, I told him to be VERY diligent for the remainder of the project. We even removed some work from the basement to keep the budget as low as possible. The final invoice came in at $74k, a nearly 25% increase over $60k and 15% more than we indicated our limit was. Thankfully, we had enough holdback that we were able to negotiate a small reduction. We had a lot of communication back and forth (mostly from us). We expected a reduction to get us closer to our maximum and we were trying to be flexible, going as high as $69k. Claiming 'unforeseen costs' as the reason, Ronal offered a list of things that were actually in the initial estimate and had either gone up or not had a proper cost assigned to them. The only unforeseen costs in the project were some additional kitchen sub-floor/tile leveling and straightening of frame materials for our ensuite. These additional costs had all been in the midpoint invoice, so the additional $10k from that point to final invoice was, in our minds, just poor budget management. We never received budget updates at any time. In the end, a 3% invoice reduction on a budget blown by about 25%. read more

Fabulous to work with. Very patient, accommodating and skilled at what they do. The workmanship was terrific as was the quality of product they used. We had chosen natural cherry. for the kitchen and maple for laundry and bathrooms. It looks amazing. Right from the beginning, we were impressed with the Aero Kitchen dream team. Ronal and Vinesh were very patient throughout the process, listening to what we wanted, and offering great suggestions along the way. They were also equally resourceful when trouble shooting a more complicated reno install and when fine tuning finishing details. In addition, Aero Kitchens had excellent follow up to ensure all was done to perfection even after the job was paid in full. I would not hesitate to recommend Aero Kitchens.
